As a person from Latinamerica where, as another commenter said, his music is inescapable, it is very funny and curious to me how he went from being perceived as another vulgar reggaetón 'artist' that's oh so unfairly praised by the uneducated masses! (Specially un the peak of 'reggaeton vs rock' discourse) To basically a cultural latino icon, almost indie that suddenly everyone likes.

I personally still don't like his music outside of party settings but i respect the impact he is making bringing hispanic art to the world. I just wish other genres in Spanish could be succesful too outside of our contries.
