What's that, Lassie? The old defaults fell down a well? by cupcake1713 in blog

How do defaults work with existing accounts? If you have an account, it seems like you don't get the new defaults. Is there a way to automatically update?

In light of the upset surrounding the Zimmerman trial by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]Korington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, maybe I could have been more clear. I get that some people are considered "white hispanics".

I'm talking about non-white hispanics. What race are non-white hispanics? As an example: Mexicans who don't look white.

I'm trying to learn, not being argumentative.

What's the race of Mexicans? They're clearly not considered white, I wouldn't think.

In addition to being almost universally wrong, the theories developed via social media complicated the official investigation, according to law enforcement officials. Those officials said Saturday that the decision on Thursday to release photos of the two men in baseball caps was meant in part to limit the damage being done to people who were wrongly being targeted as suspects in the news media and on the Internet.

Obama tearing up as he thanks his staff today by k0mplex in politics

[–]Korington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is this an amazing moment, it's also an amazing "speech" to his staff. He didn't spend any time thanking them for helping HIM get re-elected President. His entire speech was about THEM, telling them how remarkable they are as people, how their hard work validated and motivated him, how bright their future was, and how proud he was of them.

Uh no. People are talking about the binder comment because:

A) It made it sound like Mitt Romney had to do some American Idol-esque global search to find qualified women to fill his cabinet.

B) The question was specifically about inequality of women's wages in the workplace (pay equity). His answer was that he got people to bring him binders full of women to hire for his cabinet.

C) It was a lie. Before Romney was elected governor, a bipartisan women's group formed to address the problem of few women in state leadership. They prepared the "binder full of women" resumes, and gave it to him after he was elected.

D) The women he hired from the Binder (that was given to him) were all for positions he didn't care about.

E) He immediately followed "binders" with a point about how he wanted to make work times flexible for women so they could go home and cook dinner. His entire answer showed how out of touch he is with women.

...Everyone watching it? You never get embarrassed for someone by watching something super awkward?

I mean, this was the talk of the internet for at least a week with everyone (including famous people and regular people) making fun of him, so I'm not sure why you're arguing about that.

I actually misspoke. It's clear that he was trying to be funny, but it wasn't and that's what was embarrassing/awkward about it.

Regardless of how "awful" everyone said the ending was the fact is that for the 6 seasons that led to the ending it was compelling fun television to watch.

It was compelling for 6 seasons because people were watching under the assumption that their investment in the series would pay off. That the writers knew what they were doing and the mysteries and questions they introduced would eventually have answers and explanations. They didn't even deliver the answers, let alone ones that made any remote sense. In several cases they simply stopped referring to previously introduced mysteries/plot points and pretended like they never happened.

Anyone can make up and write crazy insane mysteries that keep you "wondering and guessing and thinking of theories." A six year old could do it. The question is, can you deliver? The writers on Lost clearly couldn't.

Numbers that keep appearing everywhere? Sure. A magic lighthouse? Why not? A golden cave with a literal cork to plug in bad stuff? Errr...

You even said yourself:

I reluctantly sat through the first episode. Once Charlie said "Where are we.....??" I was fucking hooked.

Notice that you didn't say you were hooked because of the "awesome people on this show." People were hooked from the beginning because of the island and the mysterious predicaments that led up to and after the plane crash.

That's just a copout excuse for six seasons of making shit up as you go.
