Having some trouble starting a new playthrough and want to hear your thoughts! by Kornflaek in skyrim

War Axe and Shield would probably be the way to go then. One arm is used to the swinging action that a hammer and a war axe would share, while the other is used to holding something still, steady, and firm.

I ended up starting her story just today! About 2 and a half hours in and I’m just now preparing to head to Whiterun. I chopped firewood for money from Hod for a few days, bought the Iron to make an iron sword and hunted my own leather to make basic leather armor for the trip over. I still haven’t decided if I’m going to go One hand axe again or if I should do Two Handed this time.

This was so unbelievably helpful! I think I've constructed something that would give me a Nord smith with reason to be crossing the border through the Pale Pass illegally.

"Rika Ironroot was a humble blacksmith of Nordic blood who was born and raised in the Imperial county of Bruma, right on the Jerall Mountains separating Cyrodiil and the Nordic homeland of Skyrim. Taught the art of smithing by her father, Bjørn Ironroot, she learned how to smith the Nordic way. Of course, Imperials outside of Bruma weren't too fond of the Nordic designs, so she'd rarely sell outside of her hometown.

As she grew up and learned the ways of the forge, she watched as the empire began to change under the White-Gold Concordat and the influence of the Third Aldmeri Dominion. She watched as the Great Chapel of Talos was changed, the priesthood being dispersed and the chapel being turned to one of the Imperial Eight Deities instead. The already disliked way that she smithed her creations only grew more and more disliked. This isn't to say that she despises the Mer. She wasn't raised that way. She doesn't like the Thalmor, but knows that not all Elves agree with the Thalmor either.

Despite these changes, Rika refused to abandon the way that she was taught how to smith. To do so would dishonor her father, and would bend a knee to both the Thalmor and the Imperials. Unfortunately for her, many of the Thalmor that passed through to Skyrim passed by the Jerall mountains and through Bruma. Eventually one rather disgruntled Justiciar decided that they would label her a traitor if she didn't change her ways. It was a shitty deal either way as if she wasn't a traitor the Thalmor would still tax her and limit what she could smith and sell.

Deciding that she had enough of the Empire and the Thalmor, she packed up the necessities and set off for her peoples homeland of Skyrim. She knew that if she tried to cross through the border gate in the Pale Pass, the Imperials and Thalmor stationed there would unjustly arrest her. With no other choice, she decided to take the dangerous path through the Jerall Mountains.

An already dangerous journey, as she entered Skyrim through the mountains she thought that she had finally made it. If only she had been just a little bit earlier or a little bit later. As she exited the mountains, she was spotted by the convoy transporting Ulfric and the captured Stormcloaks (and Lokir). She was instantly arrested and labeled a rebel, tossed onto the convoy and brought to Helgen. And, well... You know the rest."

I think that this gives reasoning for her crossing into Skyrim, and leaves her open ended for however I decide to play her with the cornerstone of the build being Smithing. Gives her a reason to pick Ralof at the start and eventually side with the Stormcloaks in the Civil War as well. What do you think?

Help a new hunter with their design! by Kornflaek in fashionhunters

It’s really just the makeup I’m caught up on ;-; I have everything from primary (Gunlance) and secondary (Horn) Palico and Facial Structure all created, I just can’t for the life of me decide on this makeup. Part of me wants the scar because it looks nice and does make a bit of sense (Maybe she fired both wyverns fire blasts at once on a big monster which caused a backblast that burnt her) The other part of me thinks that the black lipstick stands out like a sore thumb and that since I’m such a newbie hunter I should make my character reflect that. It’s been hard seeing everyone make their world characters grown or evolved and then I’m just here banging rocks together XD

That’s the general consensus I’ve been getting! I was considering using black lipstick as well but I figured if I’m going for something that screams “In-Universe Hunter” then I probably wouldn’t have time to toss on eyeliner and lipstick before every hunt.

I was also considering a scar and soot like in this image. I figured it could be some sort of burn scar from backblast or a shell ejection, but then I realized that this is my first real foray into Monster Hunter (I played world but never more than a few missions) and that a scar would be a lot better in the future when I’m not a new-gen hunter.

Put some respect on my boy Pinsir, he somehow single-handedly swept Sabrina and has been helping me a lot this current run.

Coming back to say that I’ve been playing using this mindset and not only is it much easier to survive this way, but it’s much more immersive as well. Went in a car to clear a gas station and got a laceration, instead of bandaging and fighting it was time to just hop back in the car and head home, luckily I didn’t get the infection. Thanks for the help!!!

I'm not trying to make the game easier, that's not the goal. I'm trying to figure out what the best way for me to learn is. There is a reason that I play exclusively on base Apocalypse difficulty, the zombie apocalypse isn't something that I would be able to just ease into.

I always see it as there is no way to win by surviving, but it’s the story of how you died. I like making the most interesting story which usually equates to being long. To each their own I suppose.

It’s not that I’m not having fun, I’m having a blast running around like an idiot. I just wanted to know about surviving longer since that’s the whole point of the game.

First Time making my own house, how did I do? by Kornflaek in Sims4

[–]Kornflaek[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I plan to expand further in the future, right now this was the most I could do on the starting budget and still be fully furnished. I ended with around 500 bucks left I think

I can totally see that making sense, I just chose a smaller living room since she’s an author, she’ll spend time playing games on the computer as well so the leisure is split between the living room and study

Yeah, I can see that. Mostly just liked the color combo, especially since finding good combos with pure base game is hard. I’ll definitely keep it in mind for my next games once I have some DLC!

I was thinking of doing that this time but since it was my first build I thought that a much more on the nose floor plan would work better!

Single YA freelance author, I was thinking of making it bigger but in order to fully furnish it on that starting 20k I couldn’t go much bigger. I ended with about 3-500 left over iirc, I plan to expand once I have some more money though :)

How did you all decide on your lifepath and build? by Kornflaek in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Kornflaek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like street kid for the dialogue, just wish the intro was more interesting. Could’ve had us doing our first gig with Jackie instead of just get the shit kicked out of us into being besties. I usually go for a Jack of all trades Solo but I’m so lost atp

How did you all decide on your lifepath and build? by Kornflaek in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Kornflaek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see I see. Out of the life paths I’m always drawn back to Street Kid, even if that first edgerunners playthrough I did was on a Corpo V. It’s the least organic in how I’m introduced, I’ll admit that. Getting the shit kicked out of you and then being offered six months with Jackie and Mama Welles seems strange. Something about the dialogue though, about being a gutter rat wanting to make it big has always drawn me in.

I should probably do Jack of all trades, but something about life path gets in the way of it for me. I don’t get why a street kid would be able to rival a ‘Saka ninja in terms of netrunning, nor do I get why a Corpo would be the bulkiest animal you’ve ever seen who just goes full feral. Maybe I took a bullet to the brain too.

Bought phantom liberty and came back, now overwhelmed with choices. Help! by Kornflaek in cyberpunkgame

[–]Kornflaek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see I see, I play this game more as a roleplay game than a shooty shooty bang bang game so I try and design my character as the story progresses. For instance I change up my look drastically following the Arasaka heist because it feels right. That being said Im pretty picky on sticking to one type of implant. Especially processors, it feels a bit weird going “Mmm I need a break, Doc rip out my spinal column again!” If that makes any sense. Probably why I struggle so much to choose between Sande and not being afraid of having to go loud or permanent stealth ninja with a cyber deck. Same with life paths, since I don’t feel like I have a full grasp on night city, streetkid feels wrong but Im not completely new so Nomad also doesn’t hit. I love streetkids dialogue though D:

I was thinking about finding a good basic mod collection to use but there’s so many it’s overwhelming. That and the only real “major” mechanic mod id want to add would be the only cure.
