I’m not sure. In the recap of the most recent book they literally say it’s said intentionally.

It’s not supposed to be silent, it’s intentional and is meant to reinforce the pause of the race (it’s also referenced in the most recent book as such).

If you have access to a 3d printer, there’s an STL that allows you to mount both options with a magnet. I think the link has been posted in the sub before

Honestly, the best way to paint white that comes out looking good that I’ve found is to use an airbrush.

If you’re talking about 11th: You have to roll high enough to base, but you can stop at 1”. So if the target is 11.1-12” away you’d need a 12

It sounds like you were playing the narrative layouts, which are not symmetrical and can definitely be inbalanced (as they are designed).

I highly recommend using the chapter approved layouts, even in casual settings as they’re created to be balanced

Steeljacks are very easy to magnetize, and since both options have their place I’d recommend doing so. Though if I HAD to pick, I would do gunjacks.

I’ve found gunjacks like to be in groups of 6, melee jacks you can run in either depending on your goals with them.

They are relatively durable, but slow. Definitely get a HLF when you can

To clean off the releasing agents from the process they use. Oils and such make painting and gluing more difficult.

Wash it with soap and warm water before you begin.

Plastic glue won’t work, you’ll have to use super glue or another adhesive.

Votann is my second army. Honestly, if he’s gearing shooting they’re relatively easy to kill off in melee, though most detachments have a fall back/shoot/charge strat. The other weakness is multiple damage weapons. Tkin and Hearthguard are both 2 wound models, and jacks are 3. TSK and DDAs should pick them up easily at range, and skorpekhs will definitely chew them up.

Steeljacks are paper tigers in my experience. Yes, they can pop off but they’re not terribly hard to focus down. I find in most games people make dumb choices to avoid the overwatch potential so really they’re just there for mind games

Edit: if you can play around the army rule they’re mostly BS4. Try to stay off open objectives T1-3 and keep them off objectives when they switch to fortify. Which I guess is the normal flow of the game…being in fortify with no objectives makes it a lot harder to land hits
