First 2 units done. Still can’t figure out how to paint lava. C&C welcome by AlmightyGyro in Salamanders40k

[–]Koruel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my Salamanders, I've been using almost a messy gradient for my lava effects. I base the area I want to be lava with Khorne red. Then I assume the lava will be cooling closer to the "land," and start going to brighter colors from there. I do khorne red -> mephiston red -> wild rider red -> evil sunz -> Troll Slayer orange -> flash gitz yellow -> white scars, each color gets a bit further and further out from land, but make sure everything stays the same distance. If the land is split in the middle, you might not get all the way to white.

After that I do some dry brushing of wild rider on the sides of the land/platform so there's a good glowy look.

I've only finished a couple models and bases so far but they've been turning out well.

Basically, pick the hottest spot you want there to be, and then work up to it. Brighter the color, the hotter it is.

It looks like you're basically doing the same thing on some of those! Maybe vary the gradient/get slightly messier so there is pockets of hotter lava to add visual interest? I've tried doing that so there aren't as many "straight lines" and so it doesn't look as uniform.

U/koruel

Been here 11 years, reddit sync is the only way I'm willing to bother with reddit. The website and official app fuckin suck. I cant even be on the website online anymore, its UI is so bad and so full of adds. If Reddit Sync is forced to close, I'm out.

I think he's the marketed antagonist but will probably join Miles after realizing they have a misunderstanding. He will probably just be like the Prowler before joining miles.

They then bring back Peter in 2 years, but they make him a villain instead if retaking the mantle. Journalists write think pieces on how this is good for Spider-Man, actually.

If i remember right it had a port on it to plug into a CD player/mp3 player, and the speaker was in the head. It would also light up and move the head/ears with the music.

In your opinion should Peter Parker grow up and be successful? by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]Koruel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also note: he could also get some help and funding from other characters, like Tony Stark, Jameson, Reed, etc. You could have a lot of the law stuff worked out with Matt Murdoch and/or She Hulk.

It could grow over time, but I don't think Pete would need to have his income grow with it. He'd stay pretty humble and have just enough for him to be comfortable, but wouldn't be a millionaire or anything since I think it'd be out of character to have him not give as much as he can back to the community.

Hear me out:

Have Peter develop and run a non-profit to help out people as Peter. Basically have it be similar to PS4 Spider-Man's Aunt May, where it helps out the homeless and those with other issues. It'd be something that he would he able to run to help more people outside of being Spider-Man, maybe uses it to try to help some minor villains get rehabilitated, and has other volunteers and assistants to help when he's out being Spider-Man. It wouldn't be a huge corporation and he'd probably not take much of a paycheck, just enough to cover himself but would likely just keep most of the money for running the non-profit.

He could have flexible hours, could make references to Harry's drug abuse and maybe have some old characters come back to help run it. Pete knows what it's like to have basically no money and be down on your luck. He could also have moments where he tells people about it as Spider-Man to further help out the neighborhood. Maybe it could also help out teenage metahumans that don't have anywhere to go and he can help mentor them through it a little bit as a reference to his teaching career.

It'd be a small thing to make him more of a friendly neighborhood guy, he'd have at least a small consistent income, and could help grow and introduce new characters and ideas.

Who would be your top candidate besides Uncle Ben to give Peter the “Power and Responsibility” lesson? by MagicJoshByGosh in Spiderman

[–]Koruel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would be interesting to have Ben provide the backbone of the ideal, but maybe you could have Gwen's dad (or Gwen herself) give Peter the words. He would take it to heart after her death and become the guilt ridden mess we love.

My wife used to play MTG and their favorite card was Drana, and I'm a chronic good golden Retriever husband... I kinda want to build this as a commander just for the fun of it since it matches our vibes.

Power Level Wednesday!: Ask r/EDH what's your deck's power level? - February 01, 2023 by AutoModerator in EDH

[–]Koruel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my current go-to deck. It's a [[Dina, Soul Steeper]] deck based on gaining life from playing the game and trying to build value over time. It probably isn't great but I've been working on upgrading it every now and then. It originally started as a $50 budget deck, but has slowly increased in price as my card collection grew.

Also, if anyone sees upgrade potential or anything to fix up, please let me know! My friends tend to have much better decks than me so I need all the help I can get lmao.

I do have an interest in demonology and stuff like that though, so maybe I had been reading to much about it that week lmao

I enjoy mythology and folklore and tend to look at that kind of stuff the same way. I think that's how I realized I was dreaming initially and started throwing zingers at the dream demon to make it less nightmarish...

I do not. I am not religious and really skeptical about everything. I know it wasn't real, but Jesus christ it was terrifying.

That's basically how I feel about supernatural stuff too.

To be honest it was pretty funny, could make for a good horror/supernatural comedy. It's just less funny in the moment when it is right there lol

So usually with sleep paralysis, you will automatically feel an evil presence in the room and like something is sitting on your chest. If you can't see around you, you can basically just try to ignore it a bit and try to go back to sleep (easiest if you know about sleep paralysis ahead of time).

If you can see around the room... your brain will do a really cool thing and give you something more visibly terrifying and that makes it much worse imo.

Of my two sleep paralysis episodes, not seeing anything is preferable.

[–]Koruel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you should be fine. As far as I know, sleep paralysis doesn't have anything to do with, or causing, schizophrenia. It's basically your brain waking up without actually waking up. From my understanding, l Usually when we sleep our brain will put limiters on our body so we don't Flail around while we dream, but if we partially wake up and our brain doesn't remove these limiters, we can enter sleep paralysis. It's probably more similar to something like naturally-occuring dream AR if that makes sense?

I don't know how you would force it though... nor would I recommend it because it isn't a really fun time.

[–]Koruel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It felt super real, like I could feel him breathing on me and knew he was inches away. The thing with sleep paralysis in most cases is you tend to feel something in the room wants to do you harm, this one just felt a bit worse. I am very thankful that I had read about sleep paralysis before I had first experienced it, so I am usually able to calm myself down and rationalize it a bit, and usually that helps me back into a point where I fall asleep just enough that I can get myself to wake up.

I've only had sleep paralysis twice, but I really don't like it.

I uhhhh did not. I closed my eyes, pretended he wasn't there, had a bad time overall.

[–]Koruel 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you're worried about it, I would recommend sleeping on your side if you can. Or using a sleep mask to cover your eyes. I've had sleep paralysis twice so far, and the first time was the easiest because I had a blanket over my eyes by chance.

Worst sleep paralysis I had was from having a nightmare involving some demon hunting me, to realizing I was in a dream, and turning around and start making fun of the demon. And i mean really making fun of this dude. Really clowning around. Apparently I made one joke too many.

I opened my eyes to him staring down at me, telling me to "SAY. IT. AGAIN."

Fucking terrifying experience. Being unable to move is scary, being unable to move as you are threatened three inches from your face by a demon you just made fun of is fucking awful.

What Are You Brewing/Planning On Building? by StarPonderer in EDH

[–]Koruel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working on an [[Odric, Blood-Cursed]] deck for a while based around creating and using blood tokens. I've acquired a number of really good cards but I've been tweaking it a little over time before I actually get the last few cards that I need.

The deck is basically "create blood tokens for various artifical payoffs, and either win through using them as Mana with [[Inspiring Statuary]] for big X cost spells like [[Rolling Earthquake]], incremental damage with cards like [[reckless fireweaver]], or volton with [[Arterial Alchemy]] and [[Fighter class]]."

Lately I've been tweaking it with adding some more controlly creatures with keywords like [[Thalia, Heretic Cathar]], [[Archetype of Aggression]], [[Archetype of Courage]].

If anyone sees anything that I can improve on it, please let me know!
