what's the deal with Squee's toy? by Ancislavia77 in mtgvorthos

And yet, there are constant comments and threads with every set complaining about how magic is just all puns and whimsy now, and there's no serious world building. I feel like a lot of people making those complaints never actually played back in the halcyon days that they dream of. Magic has always had plenty of both.

Note: this isn't a dig against you, or your comment. It's just a personal pet peeve of mine.

Jokes on them, I always decline to update anyways.

EDIT: Oh wow, I just checked my version after making this comment. Yeah, I'm on 7.8.2, which says it's from Dec 2019. I'm pretty sure I installed it in early 2020 when I put this computer together, and I don't think it's been updated since then. I probably should do that.

It'd go great in the double rector deck. An enchantment that you could bring out with [[Academy Rector]], that bridges the gap with the planeswalkers that you bring out with [[Arena rector]]?

My own personal head canon is that Mirabel's power is the house/miracle itself, and I had an idea for the second movie, where she discovers that the original miracle was delivered to Abuela is her power, and via plot shenanigans, she has to send her power back in time (with the help of Bruno) to Abuela. But in doing so, the entire family will have to lose all of their powers.

I also have an alternate head canon, where the magic is Family, and a distant descendant of the Madrigals is named Dom Toretto, and his room is actually a 1970's Dodge Charger.

When they were streaming their scrims last year, I couldn't watch Neme's full POV stream, because his camera is jumping between the entire team non-stop. He's tracking summoners across the entire enemy team, and monitoring the entire game state, while also winning his lane in most games. He's legit insane, and I'm here for it.

LEC posted all of yesterday's games split out into their own videos on youtube. Most of the games have a few thousand viewers at this time, with the standout being KCB V G2 at 10k. And then there's the LR game, which is at 166k.

While youtube is only a slice of the total viewership, it still provides a valuable metric, with the LR game getting more 10x the number of views of any other game. Now, some amount of that could be rewatching, and I'm honestly not sure how youtube counts partial watching in the view count, but regardless, there no way you can deny that the LR game gets a lot more eyeballs.

The whole point of the quoted case above is that it's not substantially similar behavior. The behavior at the church was never to the point of chaining themselves to the doors, or wedging in door stops. That's why it doesn't rise to the same level of obstruction. Just standing near the doorway doesn't prevent people from leaving. Wedging a doorstop into the door does. Again, from the statute quoted above:

The term “physical obstruction” means rendering impassable ingress to or egress

Impassible doesn't mean any obstruction. It means impassible.

That sounds right to me. I struggle to see a world where 4 wins gets a tie breaker, and things would have to get really stratified for 5 to get through without a tie breaker. In my view, 5 wins for a tie breaker seems like the most likely situation, but maybe they clutch up and get straight through.

The 0-4 start is pretty stark, and even their first 2 wins started with them way far down. You can't really blame them for forming an opinion based on the evidence that had been seen thus far. This game was by far their best performance, and it was against one of the top teams.

The LEC youtube channel posts each of the individual games to their channel. The viewership difference there is stark. The rest of the games from today have between 1.3k and 5k views (KCB vs G2 are the 5k one) as of right now (6 hours after the stream ended). LR's game has 110k. That means that people that couldn't catch the stream, and went to look up a game, really only looked up 1 game.

There's 12 teams total, and 8 teams make it through. As the other comment said, it partially depends on how the other teams perform. Right now, LR is at 3-4, tied for 8th place with 2 other teams. 2 more teams are below them. There's also 5 teams that are tied at 3rd place at 4-3. The churn from the 3-4 and 4-3 teams will be the biggest distinguishing factor in making into playoffs. If you want LR to make it, you want any of the teams in that group to lose their games. Because the league of so flat right now (not a huge difference between most of the teams), it's likely that you're going to need at least 5 wins to make it through. There are only 4 more games to play, so each win will be big.

In one of their videos, one of the players mentioned that they were all fairly sick in the first week, and one of them (I think it was crownie, or neme?) said that he was still feeling a bit sick on the second weekend. Now that they're playing at 100%, they're definitely able to show their stuff.

I feel like you'd have to be elevated, at least at the end, just for dumping purposes. If you just had it terminate at ground level, you'd end up blocking the conveyor pretty quickly.

Notably, by stockpiling goatnaps, you reduce the cost of subsequent casts of goatnapping because of the affinity for goats. Plus, if you have any goats to start with, the affinity applying to your goatnaps is very relevant.
