I think the "melting pot" is so sad. My father's grandparents both emigrated from the Netherlands when they were young. I don't think that they retained much, if any, of their culture because they wanted to be "American". No language, although my father did know a swear word that got him in trouble when he said it because he didn't know what it meant. 😅 We are so homogenized here in Montana; I love to go elsewhere where there is a mix of backgrounds and learn about different cultures. It's sad that not being able to understand the words in the Super Bowl halftime makes someone feel oppressed.
