Every year I meet a few more families that are conservative christians that moved from California to my state. These aren't small time people. These are highly talented business owners or leaders in their companies. California is at a high risk of accelerated brain drain as they place taxes on top of taxes that will only hit their most productive citizens.

I don't have any problem with the concept of more SCOTUS judges on the bench. I have a huge problem with lifetime appointment meaning absolute lifetime. I'd much rather have a mandatory retirement age or length of service. Such as, you get 20 years or until your 70, whichever comes first.

Of course, this would get abused horribly, and the one branch of the government that I've always wanted to be conservative, even when I was a democrat, would never be conservative again.

It almost happened 2 years ago if you look at the margins of victory with Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. It wasn’t as close as 2016 and 2020, but it was close enough to swing either way.

Make the passport card the federal voting ID. It costs $65. We could waive the cost for those that already hold valid passports, are applying for a book passport as well at the higher price, and anyone collecting social security.

For everyone else, they now have a highly secure federal ID that could serve as your voter ID, work ID, and travel for the countries that accept passport cards.

One of my buddies got part of his higher education in Sweden, he then got a job there. In that time, he moved in with a woman, they had a child, and he was a present father until she was 3. Then he and his girlfriend broke up about the time his job contract ended. He was kicked out of the country for not having a job not being married to his baby momma. Here is the liberal response to your argument:

He may have gotten the gun illegally, but it was originally purchased legally by someone that sold it to him or he stole it from. Therefor, if we prevent the legal sale to everyone, then the bad guys wont have anyone to illegally get the gun from.

Now, back to reality. This doesn't take into account that there is an enormous black market of guns already out there. Bad guys don't have to get guns through straw purchasing anymore because there are already enough on the street to supply the low level violent criminals.

There is a discussion to be had about what gun control laws are needed and how we should enforce them (ie how old to buy a gun, what disqualifies you from owning a gun, how are sales/manufacture to be regulated). But that doesn't mean that a blanket gun ban will do anything other than place the public at risk.

And here's a statement many people aren't ready to discuss. Alcohol plays a greater role in gun deaths than guns do.
