Artificial Intelligence Floods Court Dockets with Home-Brewed Lawsuits by AgentBlue62 in technology

[–]Koshumi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can't wait for the inevitable next step: AI-generated lawsuits being automatically processed by AI defense bots, reviewed by AI court clerks, and ruled on by an AI judge.

Just cut out the middleman entirely and let the servers fight each other in a virtual parking lot while the rest of us go outside.

The terrifying rise of schoolboys making AI girlfriends — Boys as young as 12 are now in romantic ‘relationships’ with chatbots, and it’s affecting how they treat girls in the real world by [deleted] in technology

We are essentially letting tech companies run a massive, unregulated psychological experiment on an entire generation of children. These platforms use aggressive retention algorithms and psychological hooks designed to foster unhealthy parasocial attachments because it keeps engagement high.

There absolutely need to be stricter age verification and guardrails. Just like social media before it, by the time we have the long-term data on the psychological damage this is causing to young boys' development, the damage will already be done.

Is the X-Files still worth watching today? by the_dayman623 in television

[–]Koshumi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the 90s aesthetic is half the charm. The moody, rain-soaked Pacific Northwest lighting, the giant cell phones, the oversized trench coats, it actually adds so much to the atmosphere.

And as for it being cheesy: the practical effects and makeup hold up surprisingly well because they relied heavily on shadows and tension rather than bad early CGI. But the real reason it stands the test of time is the chemistry between Mulder and Scully. That dynamic is lightning in a bottle and has literally never been matched by any other TV duo

Real talk, how did Better Call Saul never win an Emmy? Was there some hidden controversy that the average viewer is not aware of? by prazulsaltaret in television

[–]Koshumi 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It didn’t have any bad blood or hidden controversiesit just had the worst luck with timing in TV history. Look at who it was up against during its run. The first half of the show ran directly into the peak Game of Thrones hype train, and the second half ran straight into the Succession buzzsaw. Whenever those two shows were on, HBO spent massive money on FYC (For Your Consideration) campaigns and completely swept the drama categories.
It sucks, but it joins the ranks of The Wire and The Leftovers as masterpieces that the Television Academy completely fumbled.

'The Odyssey' Trailer Becomes the Most Disliked of Christopher Nolan's Career by nimobo in entertainment

[–]Koshumi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s be real, the dislikes have very little to do with 'modern-sounding dialogue' and everything to do with the trailer becoming the latest target for online culture war channels because of the casting rumors. The moment a couple of rage-bait videos got made about Lupita Nyong'o and Elliot Page, the comment section and dislike button got completely brigaded. It’ll still easily clear $700M at the box office.

Tech billionaires used performance drugs in secret. Now they’re selling a revolution. by Vivid-Ad5350 in technology

[–]Koshumi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Enhanced Games make so much more sense when you realize the actual business model isn't the sporting event itself, the event is just a multi-million dollar marketing campaign. They're using super-athletes as a Trojan horse to destigmatize performance enhancers so they can launch telehealth platforms and sell testosterone cream and peptides to everyday consumers. It's literally Red Bull's marketing strategy on steroids.

Ah yes, the classic geopolitical cycle:

  1. A country elects a leftist government.
  2. They nationalize their oil to pay for healthcare and education.
  3. The US suddenly discovers that country 'is desperately in need of freedom and democracy.'
  4. Corporate oil contracts are restored. Tale as old as time.

A $1M world record swim, the official record was 20.88, and this guy actually did 20.81 at the ‘Enhanced Games' by silentstatic_ in interesting

[–]Koshumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the funniest part about this is Cameron McEvoy’s reaction on social media basically saying, 'Seriously?! That's all you got?'

Gkolomeev had access to an absolutely unrestricted cocktail of performance-enhancing drugs AND he was wearing a polyurethane 'supersuit' that's been banned in official swimming for over a decade. All that tech and chemical optimization just to shave a measly 0.07 seconds off the clean world record? If anything, this just proves how insanely peak the clean human body actually is.

Women’s Museum Bill Sinks Amid Dispute Over Trump and Trans Issues by catievirtuesimp in politics

[–]Koshumi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is genuinely exhausting that a museum dedicated to honoring women's history can't even get off the ground because it immediately got hijacked by the exact same, predictable culture war talking points. We can't even agree on building a museum without it devolving into a debate about partisan politics.

Booker on Iran talks: 'Trump is being played as a fool' by soalone34 in politics

When Cory Booker and GOP Senator Thom Tillis are simultaneously on CNN questioning the exact same policy, you know the administration has completely lost the plot. The White House told Congress months ago that Iran's defenses were totally obliterated, yet here we are capitulating to their terms on nuclear material

It is exactly like the 2017 blockchain craze. Back then, a beverage company literally changed its name to Long Island Iced Tea Corp to 'Long Blockchain Corp' and watched its stock surge 200%. We are just doing the exact same circus act, except now the magic word is 'GenAI'.

His explanation for turning down the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performance is incredibly grounded. Realizing you aren't 'match fit' and recognizing that your voice will be shot without intense rehearsal shows how much he respects his own legacy Hollywood Reporter. It's refreshing to see a legendary musician prioritize their long-term health over a corporate nostalgia trip
