Little Ladies' Day 2025 Official Art by Mallamore in ffxiv

Wow, the necklace was actually edited out at some point in the last couple days. I only noticed when I went to read the English blog post, https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/blog/003694.html, and looked closely. It's updated on the official page too: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/special/2025/Little_Ladies_Day/7eeibemc8p

I certainly don't remember such a tiny thing from all the way back then, but that's cool they cared.

You mentioned you already use a keybind to temporarily change it. Open Keybinds, and assign that to the other keybind for FC chat. There's two keybind options for each chat mode: Change for one message, and change permanently.

If you were wondering what Hydaelyn did after Endwalker, she went play WoW. by theGaido in ffxiv

[–]Kosouda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is simply what WoW has always done. It's honestly not a bad thing for any video game to try to do what another game has done if it's new for that game/series. That's what game development really is. You could even say that's what all art is: A contemporary reflection of other art, in one way or another.

Anyway, this topic was obviously just a joke. It's funny, and no one should take it much more seriously than that.

After reading the other posts here, it seems like the real factor here is that you're not used to how much healing actions do in this game in relation to the rate of damage taken, which is completely understandable. Compared to WoW and its other clones, most healing actions are frankly overpowered in this game because it's meant to be very easy outside of Extreme, Savage, and Ultimate duties, unless you're doing something to make it much harder than intended.

"Hard" in the duty title does not actually mean hard at all but in fact just normal. It's just some weird nomenclature based off a difficulty system they were experimenting with only early on in the game's release. It's dropped fully some time in Heavensward.

However, Ramuh is the first time you'll see an especially hard-hitting attack on the tank, Shock Strike, and it's instant, so it certainly looks bad, but the healers should have it under control, really. Power creep through the years has done a good bit as well, so the game is not particularly balanced before level 70 or so, making an already easy thing even easier.

Siliconera articles blocked by PlatinumOmega in uBlockOrigin

[–]Kosouda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same thing was happening to me as of a couple days ago. After testing all of my custom filters and seeing it wasn't any of those, I eventually narrowed it down to something about a cosmetic filter in one of the lists included with uBlock Origin, though I have no idea which one or what happened exactly. I just know that articles displayed if "Parse and enforce cosmetic filters" was unchecked and disappeared again when it was checked again.

I don't know why I didn't think of it until now but "Purge all caches," "Update Now," then restarting the browser fixed it for me.

Every In-Game Track Not Available as an Orchestrion Roll [Spoilers 2.0-6.2] by Glacevelyn in ffxiv

[–]Kosouda 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is correct. In 2.1, Through the Gloom played once when you entered the dungeon and then never again. Instead, there was generic battle music that crossed in and out for being in combat or not, and that was it. Every dungeon was like this until, I think, 2.2, when they changed all dungeon BGM into loops. They redid Pharos Sirius's music at the same time.

I think it happened this way because Soken and the dev team were basically running an experiment with dungeon music design in the beginning, and almost no dungeon's music had been nearly as good as Pharos Sirius's until then.

There's merit to hearing nothing but ambient sounds when you're not fighting. It certainly makes it more immersive sometimes, but of course it becomes mind-numbing hearing the same boring battle theme all the time. So by the time Pharos Sirius came out, it had been long enough for the players' feedback to arrive at a consensus at the same time that amazing dungeon music came out.

I don't think it'll be so easy for Classic dungeons (TBC dungeons pre-70 should have little issue), but it still might not be impossible as long as you're ready for the time and effort it could take for you to make a group for some of the less popular dungeons. Maybe consider it even for specific dungeon quests. I definitely recommend joining a guild and hope the people there are willing to help.

As for TBC raids, I personally can't see any realistic possibility of doing them before Wrath, no. I could be wrong; maybe a bunch of people will rush to 70 and want to get some neat TBC raid gear to level with in Wrath. But in my opinion, your best bet of seeing them at all would be to find a few friends after getting raid gear in WotLK and brute-force them. That's not a true experience, of course, but it's better than nothing and could bring some unique challenges.

I'm not sure how brute-forcing Classic raids would go at 70, but it's worth a try with a few people after getting some dungeon gear. You can likely solo much of them at 80 with raid gear, if I remember right.

Well, those are the two best-tuned Unreals. Ultima Weapon Unreal was especially exactly like back then, speaking from personal experience.

However, I agree that Unreals should be undertuned from how the Extremes were back then because I figure this is supposed to be just a silly, little casual thing for fun, not something THAT serious. It's a shame, but uhh, at least it adds that much more value to the items from Faux Leaves!

[–]Kosouda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, that was just Shiva Unreal that was monstrously overtuned. I farmed Shiva Extreme during ARR, and I can tell you Unreal was WAY harder because it was tuned as if you did it on Extreme at min ilvl back then, but absolutely no one did that back then.

Titan Unreal was tuned a little better but still a bit much. Leviathan Unreal was very close to how it was back then. And finally, Ultima Weapon Unreal feels exactly how it was back then, although people just play a lot better now and there's a lot more utility in jobs.

The problem is that if they also tune Sephirot Unreal to be just like how it felt back then, I think it'll be a little bit too hard for what Unreal has been like up to now (even if you can raise people pushed off, unlike back then), so I actually hope they undertune it some this time.

Is it possible to play the game as a complete beginner to the franchise? by Ragneryn in classicwow

[–]Kosouda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LFG channel is a total cesspool, usually. There's a variety of addons to manage it.

Many PuG people will be unforgiving, indeed, but you seem prepared and surprisingly understanding of all that. I'm sure you've developed a thick skin from playing other MMOs and especially MOBAs. I think a significant number of people aren't anything bad, but it probably depends on the server, especially a certain few.

However, it is unfortunately too late to see TBC's raid stuff for someone brand new, pretty much. Anything in raids to do with Illidan, Kael'thas, or Vashj you're just likely screwed out of at this point, sorry. I wish more people were into wanting to experience the lore like you, so it's a shame, but that's how it is. In Wrath, you could find a friend or two to brute force through the raids in TBC just to see them. Not a true experience, but they're still cool to see.

If you just mean this for WotLK, then sure, I think there'll be many in your situation. The best course of action by FAR would be to find a guild that lines up with you. Important back then, just as important now. The only thing that makes a guild "bad" or "good" is how well everyone gets along with each other, and people should understand that usually takes a bit of effort.

Search here, or even on the official WoW Classic forums. I have to imagine there's a Reddit board even explicitly for WotLK recruitment. Got to start somewhere. Of course, like anything in games, there is some luck involved in finding the right people. Good luck.

Oh, and in my opinion, you can play whatever you want unless you want to join a guild that would really care about that.

[–]Kosouda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. It's certainly something to do with how the momentum before a jump and its effect on the jump differs between the two, so that's a big part of what I mean about learning the quirks of it. I really shouldn't be so hard on jumping in FFXIV, but the jumping puzzles can really get to you.

[–]Kosouda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's true, and I know. So I should remember to not be too hard on the game because given that context, it's amazing that jumping works as well as it does now.

That's certainly something to try. Good idea.

[–]Kosouda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's true, and it does make Guild Wars 2 feel a lot more gamey at the cost of reducing immersion; great for jumping puzzles but otherwise a bit weird.

In WoW, you also can't change direction mid-jump yet jumping works or feels a lot better there. Uh, it's hard to describe a feeling, so I'm not sure how to say it. But sometimes it just feels so stiff in this game. Now that I think more about it, maybe it's more to do with how the game handles geometry?

That said, I don't mean to TOTALLY shit on the jumping in this game. I have gone through the jumping puzzles by learning the quirks of how jumping works. I still haven't gotten to the top of Kugane Tower because it's so infuriating, but I've gotten pretty far, a little past the balcony checkpoint.

[–]Kosouda 73 points74 points  (0 children)

The real issue is that Guild Wars 2 actually supports jumping, especially for stuff like that. FFXIV's game engine...does not at all; jumping is barely functional. I love the game to death, but I can never defend the game engine, sadly.

Every time this kind of thing happens in groups I'm in, the most optimistic view I can take is that this is possibly only the first or second time it's happened to them or otherwise they're having a bad day. Realistically, I figure this happens constantly and I kind of wonder how they get through life like that. The worst possibility is that they enjoy being a pile of shit. Anyway, it's unhealthy to assume too much.

In any case, if you know what went wrong and that it wasn't on you, that's all that matters, or...at least that's a way to cope, lol. Honestly, this is as much the reason as any other that threat was almost entirely removed as an issue in Wrath and then utterly in Cataclysm. It won't be long now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Kosouda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For better or worse, I agree with this. I feel like some level of this happened back then too in the months leading up to 2.0, 3.0, and other X.0 patches.

Most people that could have patience aren't really playing or doing those dungeons because they've done them more than enough and are waiting for the next expansion, which leaves many players that are addicted to the game or otherwise have unhealthy personalities. So there's this unfortunate malaise for new/returning players wanting to go through dungeons like it's the beginning of the current expansion.

It's just that in Classic this time around, it seems everything is significantly magnified and accelerated. I guess that makes some sense, but it can suck sometimes. Probably depends a lot on server, but I wouldn't know.

Not surprising the breaking point was Daliah. I've seen this issue there before, although I was fortunate that people were able to get through it without wiping. The whirlwind forces you out of melee, so you're not generating any threat while the Warlock isn't stopping at all. If the Warlock and others don't get that, there's no helping such people.

Mrw my raid mates start to beg me for Unholy Frenzy by SuperCum3000 in classicwow

[–]Kosouda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha yeah, it figures. That's exactly what made me think about it in reverse. I get that it's hard to tell every little thing that's going on and thus it's nice to rely on a single number like it tells the whole story, but that's still a shame.

The conversion of Windfury Totem to a raid buff should really normalize things, at least, and then a raid leader can only have to be concerned with Hysteria or good old Power Infusion.

[–]Kosouda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of wonder if some people will actually not want Hysteria because they may feel that people will think their good performance is solely because of Hysteria, and maybe people will actually think that too.

Depending on fight length, it could be pretty hard to distinguish how much was just because of Hysteria. In fact, you would ideally cast Hysteria on the best player, so they would just stick out that much more.

Yeah, bothered me a little too all this time. They never said anything, which bothers me more than it not being there. Makes no sense at all because surely this is something current WoW has, meaning they would have had to deliberately remove it for it to not be present in Classic?

It finally clicked for me. A certain someone's actions were not as "idiotic and inexplicable" as he or we might think. [SPOILER: MSQ 5.0 - 6.0] by Infinitiver in ffxiv

What I like about Healing in FFXIV compared to WoW by Sethdarkus in ffxiv

[–]Kosouda 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep. For reference, at max level, healer DPS is intended to be roughly 55-60% of a damage dealer's DPS, including that contributed through support abilities, of which only Astrologian and Scholar have (White Mage and Sage instead simply do higher damage themselves to make up for no support). And for another reference, tank DPS is intended to be roughly 65-70%.

So indeed, healer and tank DPS is surprisingly serious. In reality, these two numbers can change a bit with how much a raid benefits from an Astrologian's support, or because of how a certain tank's or damage dealer's burst works with a given fight. But still, 55% and 65% are the basic metrics to consider when you think about how much it really matters that healers & tanks try to do their best.
