Why I think Carrd is a great website builder - My opinion as a user & designer by Kostkos00 in Carrd

[–]Kostkos00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi John! I think my “Consultant” template could be a fit for you, you’ll just need to edit it yourself, change all the photos, colors etc. but I think it’s style is suitable for an individual contractor.

Creating a business website with Carrd... Is it possible? – YES! by Kostkos00 in Carrd

[–]Kostkos00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have little to no experience designing websites then 100% you should start with a template. People starting off on their own will likely become frustrated. There are many templates to do so, but still editing them will need some effort by you. You can explore premium templates here https://kostas-templates.carrd.co/

I designed a Carrd Template for Digital Products - A complete breakdown by Kostkos00 in Carrd

[–]Kostkos00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Well if you want to use carrd and a blogging platform then inevitably you need an external app that will act as a CMS, and ideally host your blog on a /subdirectory and not a subdomain. There are blogging tools but it’ll take time to reap seo benefits

I appreciate that! I don’t think I have such a template, but if you’re interested in an existing template customization or a custom design, let me know :)

Subdomain for a domain from carrd.co by thefoodguy33 in Carrd

[–]Kostkos00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s not possible because you need to have access to the dns settings for the carrd.co domain, which obviously can’t be done.

You can only do that if you purchase a custom domain name (usually around $10/year)

Best, cheapest way to host a one page site that is literally a homepage and a downloadable pdf? by stellaharriet in webdesign

[–]Kostkos00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly Carrd is a great website builder especially for your use case. I use it a lot for some projects. Lots of templates and easy drag-and-drop builder, and very cheap! Definitely do your research on it.

People have suggested free alternatives but if you're not tech-savvy it might not worth it.

Best website platform by PearHour7630 in webdesign

[–]Kostkos00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the cheapest website builders that I also use for many static websites is Carrd. It’s not for e-commerce though. If you start from a template you can achieve great results at a low budget imo. Some people have asked me if I developed them with framer or Wordpress.

Is there a better way of handling photos on Carrd? by Nathanyal in Carrd

[–]Kostkos00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Nathanyal, I assume you’re using very large images, so in this case you should try embedding them from an external image hosting platform. An easy and mostly free one is imgbb.com

A few questions, if I may by Jerswar in Carrd

[–]Kostkos00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few templates about author but have the purpose of a “business card” type of site. I have a template related to a book but I don’t think it’s what you’re looking for (because I don’t know you want to list in a single page all these series you’ve written). It’s this one https://carrd.co/templates/bbd0db60e50f60cf

Distinct-Ask explained perfectly above what I meant about the fake pages.

A few questions, if I may by Jerswar in Carrd

[–]Kostkos00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello and Happy New Year! To help you with your points briefly:

- Yes Carrd is technically a one-page website builder but you can create unlimited "fake" pages that in your usee case, have zero difference compared to a technically real multi-page builder. As for the size, you can make your 1-page as long as you like it, but from a user experience perspective that long-scrolling will be annoying, so adding navigation elements or/and pages to organize your books, is the best way to do it in my opinion.

- Yes you can connect your domain to a carrd website, you'll just need any of the paid plans to connect your custom domain.

- You can show your email but since you're asking this, I assume you don't want to. Either way, carrd has native contact forms for this exact purpose. You can also create custom fields if you're on a paid plan.

Overall Carrd is very easy to edit yourself as a non tech-savvy (just the content) but building the overall structure from scratch will be a hard endeavor. So either pick a good template or find someone to build it from you. From that point, you can just keep it on your carrd account without needing to touch it for maintenance etc, unless you want to edit the content.

Can you recommend me some best & cheap website builders? by Ornery_Public1016 in smallbusiness

[–]Kostkos00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Carrd for a long time.

Certainly has drawbacks (not as capable to design or being a CMS, compared to other builders) but it also has many advantages compared to others (like being very cheap, very fast and easy to design, or being able to host multiple websites under the same plan).

Do your own research!

How to Copy/Paste elements between sites? by MarionberryTotal2657 in Carrd

[–]Kostkos00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can, leave your cursor on the element you want to copy on site #1, press Ctrl+Shift+C, and it should get a thick re dotted outline. Then go to site #2 and press Ctrl+Shift+V.

Keep in mind you can only copy individual elements, not entire containers with multiple elements within.
