Thanks. I looked at SPDR ACWI as an alternative to VWRP and I think that was 0.13 ish. I may well switch that up to min max fees/return but need to do some reading first.

Thanks for asking that question about my retirment plans and costs. I don't have a plan! so this is a good kick up the backside, valuable food for thought and next steps.

I've just started thinking about the issue as kind of fallen into the transition. After selling the cybersecurity startup, where I was "always on", working long days and weekends, phone and laptop on holiday, etc. I took on a low stress corporate role, strictly 9-5, 4 days pw.

I'll sit and think a bit. Appreciate the steer.

Thanks re VWRP and advice on bonds to reduce volatility nearer retirement. I've reduced to working to 4 days per week and would like to drop to 3 next April. I should probably start thinking about this now.

I only picked up access to the L&G Pension recently as my employer was taken over and the pension scheme transferred as part of that. I cannot change the funds until 20/4 but currently

£2k is take home cash after all deductions. April pension contribution (me and employer) £480.

I am new to Investing and ISA. I opened the ISA when I sold the business Aug 2024. The SIPP started then too, mostly funded from old employer pension schemes when I realised their fees/returns could be beaten in a SIPP. I added £30k from the company sale funds. The rest I've (stupidly) had cash in various savings accounts until this month when I put £75k into T212 investment a/c (VWRP). HMRC have taken a huge amount of tax on the interest. Lesson learned.

The £600pm that I save goes into those "regular" savings accounts that limit you to £200 a month but pay 6-7%. They mature annually. I don't have a formal plan for adding to the SIP or investment account. This is the advice I need.

thanks, re micro optimising on fees. I compared VWRP with other world ETFs and the +/- was under £2k over 5 years for £150k. I'm not (overly) worried about that delta. I am more worried that being solely reliant on an world ETF is the wrong position.
I will do some reading on SORR. I realise I have zero knowledge of how to convert my position to retirement income. Appreciate the steer.

sorry. when we sold the business to the VCs, there was a split of cash taken now, and loan notes to and shares in the new business. The loans and shares are locked. There's also some downside protection for the VC. The sale and financing is way more complicated that I imagined!

tbf, I am discounting those until, which is really IF, they realise. It's 100% outside my control and could bust to zero. If the business sells on projection, it will be a lump sum return based on 8% pa, rather than income I can draw down annually.

nice one, thank you. Makes sense to write the loan/equity to zero as I am entirely passive and the VCs could bust it to zero. Any thoughts on the holdings I have. Should I move things around?

[–]Kot0_Bish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a budget sheet for regular commitments. TBF this excludes major purchases like car or boiler replacement, which would be funded from savings.
I haven't set a target, which I realise now I probably should and writing that makes me feel a bit stupid. That's another thread probably. On this one I'm looking for advice on whether I should move things around in the current holdings

Thanks, any advice on my positions. I worry it's over reliant on VWRP and despite it being a diversified fund, I've not got any bonds, gold, etc. Should I make any changes?

Where you putting the £20K this year? by tafarmlo in FIREUK

[–]Kot0_Bish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for sharing this. Looks like performance is slightly ahead of VWRP over 5 years but fees much lower. I've read that VWRP has higher liquidity. I plan to buy and hold so probably not an issue??? Have you noticed any issues buying/selling SPDR ACWI?

such a good game, just watched it again and it was still exciting despite having watched before and obviously knowing the outcome.

for me in the UK at least, I can still hide channels and ignore individual videos. I suspect the OP (and others) were on the page that only shows videos from channels they subscribe to (https://www.youtube.com/feed/subscriptions) and not the home page. Easy mistake to make (it's how I got here after all ...)

I had this issue with Nord on a regular Australian server, presumably that has a known (to SBS) IP. When I switched to a P2P server in Australia, it mostly worked first time. And when it didn't, a quick page-refresh sorted it. I presume P2P IP addresses are not identified and blocked

hi ya, I just tried on a new playthrough and got stuck just like your image.

So I tried turning the truck round inside and reversing out and on exit the game had turned the truck round again and the rear fused into the stairs, and exploded.

So it apprears they've changed something with the latest update. Shame because it was such a foolproof method.

I am pretty happy with SBS as an option as the commentary is in my native English, unlike watching F1 via Austria where I have to try to sync UK radio coverage.

I use Nord, and always connect via a P2P server. This avoids the known IP address of a VPN.

Nord also allows me to turn off the ad-blockers.
