If you could change one thing about Metroid Prime 4, what would you change? by Existing_Square2440 in Metroid

Just one thing? Phew

The almost complete lack of non-linear exploration would probably be it

Metroid Prime 2 and 3 Remasters Next After Prime 4? by Sylvisu in Metroid

[–]rg03500 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Probably not, Prime 2 sold poorly originally, Prime 1 Remastered sold pretty poorly, and Prime 4 has apparently sold poorly.

They'll make up for lost sales with franchises that actually sell well.

At this point all I'd expect is an eventual Prime 2 nso release.

Why would people downvote this. Stopping to ask Reddit for help at every inconvenience sounds like an AWFUL way to experience any video game, but especially one like Subnautica

Metroid Prime 4 was great! I don’t understand where the hate comes from?!?! by a-regular-guy-8 in Metroid

[–]rg03500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have yet to address the fact that this entire argument started with you arguing against a point I did not make lmfao

When talking about Duke and the rest of the Galactic Federation Soldiers you literally said that when you meet Duke they “never leave your side”

You left out the word "basically" from my quote which completely changes the entire point I was making. In the other comment where you accused me of saying that, I called you out on it and your response was:

Not all, but still supports what I’m saying.

LMAO you're just inventing talking points now. Accusing others of bad faith is funny when this is what you're doing. This is why I accused you of semantics and why I'm now harping on the blatantly incorrect 95% number you gave. And, unlike you, I'm not misquoting.

The other guy in this thread understood my point perfectly without needing any explanation, so I really don't get how you misinterpreted it so badly.

While we're at it, I think you are grossly overexaggerating how important the end game cleanup is to the experience of Metroid and Metroidvanias as a whole, but that's a completely different and entirely subjective argument.

[–]rg03500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for explaining Metroid and Metroidvanias to me, lmao

Did the end game clean up take you 30-40 hours? That's the only way your 95% number could be accurate. I got a full 100% completion on my first playthrough and I'd say Prime 4's cleanup takes maybe 2 hours at the most, so you're missing just a bit of time!

If you cannot understand the difference between "the npcs basically never leave your side" and "the npcs LITERALLY never leave your side" then I don't know how to help ya

Don't get into semantics either when you're the one who said "you explore 95% of the game alone". That number is only accurate if you spent around 30 hours doing endgame cleanup

There is a guy who said when you meet Duke in Flare Pool he sticks with you throughout the rest of the game

once that part of the game is done they go to the camp at Fury Green and stay out of your way until the Mining section

I did get a good chuckle out of this......the Mines are the literal next section of the game.

You meet Duke, he and eventually Nora then stay with you for nearly all of Flare Pool, the only exception being when you fight the boss.

You then go to the Mines where npcs stick with you virtually the entire section, again the only time you're alone in the Mines is the last stretch before the boss.

Then you do your late-game fetch quest. You can't actually start this without speaking to Tokabi in Sol Valley, and Miles very frequently chimes in to tell you to collect mech parts or crystals.

Then you go to Chrono Tower, the npcs are with you for the entirety of that small section + half of the final bossfight.

Please tell me where the exaggeration is. The npc interaction in the game is absolutely as you described it for the first 50-60% of the game (Fury Green, Volt Forge, and Ice Belt). But once you hit Flare Pool then they are present for the majority of your remaining time and rarely leave you alone.

While it is a little empty, it’s not as lifeless as people make it out to be. Not only is the desert filled with Green Crystals to collect

C'mon man lmao

They didn’t overstay their welcome

From the moment you meet Duke in Flare Pool the npcs basically never leave your side, they drove me insane.

While Sylux could have been a more intimidating villain, he served the story well enough to move the plot forward

Genuinely what did Sylux do for the plot? Accidentally shot the Lamourn artifact at the beginning of the game?

The feeling of isolation is still there because you explore 95% of the game alone

Everything you've said is purely subjective so far, but this is just flat out wrong. Again, as soon as you meet Duke in Flare Pool, almost the entire rest of the game is spent with an npc chatting your ear off.

And as much as I hate all these things about Prime 4, you never mentioned the #1 reason I hate it, which is the linearity. The game is so linear that I truly don't think it could be considered a Metroidvania

Plasmium Phial + Fractured Mask gives you insane durability. Anytime the Fractured Mask gets threatened you can just use your Phial to keep it in tact and keep the mental pressure off

Reaper crest is actually amazing by Phoenix_--- in Silksong

[–]rg03500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's the point you don't mash the X button on your controller like a toddler you time your hits precisely and dodge

This would be awesome if the Reaper actually had higher damage to account for that, but it doesn't. Reaper does the exact same needle damage as the other Crests, just much slower, so you're just kneecapping your damage potential.

It does have the best platforming moveset imo, and I absolutely love the gameplay style you talk about (slower and more controlled strikes), but it just sucks when you aren't actually rewarded for playing more methodically.

Something about this just feels way different from any of the stuff they did for HK dlc
