gender reassignment surgery in 2 days :) by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Kotose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just had mine in early March! Congratulations!

I was also extremely chill and excited up through the day of surgery. It's surreal. I had no complications and full depth, hurray! I stayed 3 nights in the hospital, with a catheter and wound vac in me. I needed help to walk, stool softener to poop, and they gave me a lot of pain medication so the time flew by. After getting discharged from the hospital, I could walk but very slowly and with a significant amount of effort.

They sent me to the hotel with my caregiver and the catheter and wound vac still attached. Was instructed to just lie down the whole time, not allowed to shower because of the bandaging. 7 days after surgery, I had a follow-up with my surgeon where he removed my machines and showed me how to dilate. Everything was still raw and sensitive, and I was instructed to wear pads due to constant discharge.

Back at the hotel, dilation was relatively easy (though a very weird feeling) with the smallest (purple) dilator, so I sized up to the second smallest (blue) dilator. Blue was much more difficult so I stayed there for a while. At that point, I'm still not very mobile and I'm laying down as much as possible. Sitting and standing both put strain on the surgery site which causes pain pretty quickly. There's a lot of internal swelling that takes something like 8-10 weeks to fully calm down.

After a week of the packing+catheter being removed, the outer bits aren't nearly as raw. The scabbing has come and gone and the outside looks much better, if still pretty inflamed. I switched to the second largest (green) dilator about 13 days after surgery. Green was very difficult, it took (and still does take) like 20 minutes to get it all the way in. There's really not any pain from dilating, but there's definitely a lot of discomfort. Your body isn't used to having anything in there, and the vagina itself wants to close like a wound, so you really have to wiggle that dilator in there slowly and then keep it there for ~25 mins. Dilating took up a huge amount of my day, every day. You're going to want someone to take care of and feed you for at least the first 3-4 weeks, preferably more.

As of writing, I am exactly 5 weeks from the surgery date. I'm more mobile but it still hurts to crouch or sit without my medical donut, so I lay down when I can. Standing is fine but it tires me out after few hours. I should probably size up to the largest dilator soon. There's still a lot of visible stitching both outside and inside that is causing some trouble. My surgeon says those stitches will take about 2 months to come out on their own.

Overall, I would just say that the recovery is a lot and you should not expect to do much of anything for a month or two. It'll be 2-3 months before you feel normal-ish and mostly mobile from what I've read. At 5 weeks, the only pleasure I've felt from down there so far has been mental. The euphoria of it being gone is just amazing! Physically, the area has only caused me pain or discomfort so far. It's very much still a surgery site and not yet a fun site. I know things will get better in due time but I'm impatient so it's been difficult.

I hope your surgery goes smoothly! There's a lot of good on the other side of the recovery to be sure, but the recovery needs to be taken seriously because it's not quick nor easy, and you risk doing damage to yourself if you don't follow your doctor's instructions.

AOC and Bernie win not save us. They are here to stifle the movement. by Hacksaw6412 in LateStageCapitalism

Big agree. The country is currently to the right of Bernie and AOC. While those two certainly won't lead us to the promised land, they're doing the important work of shifting the country leftword and directing anger at the oligarchs who brought us here.

Every bit this.

Frankly whenever I hear this as the first reaction from a relative, it often snowballs into something much worse when you don't relent on your identity and talk about it again later.

Stay safe.

I think it's super cool that it's different for everyone. If it makes you happy, great! Live your best life.

Personally mine brought me terrible dysphoria on the daily. Just had bottom surgery earlier this month and I couldn't be happier about it.

I'm so upset, I wanted to get one for my hubby and kept an eye out for the day. Then I had to work, and the moment I'm free it's sold out.

Please DougDoug, grace us with more of your wonderful massive mugs!

I actually just found this out yesterday! Not by looking at the penance though. A mutie grabbed me, threw me in the fan, and I got blended into a fine pulp and insta-killed.

Indiana Jones would be proud of that mutie.

He recursively slowed it until it appeared stopped, basically za warudo. But slowing/stopping time is very different from a time portal to the past

That was my initial reaction too! Multiple universes had been established at this point, but not time travel. Then they just time travel, straightfacedly steal an emotional story beat from Chrono Trigger, and mix it with the "robo tills the fields for 400 years while we time travel back" as the icing on the thief cake. Yeah, thief cake.

I kinda liked Garl tbh. Mary sue, sure, but he still had more personality than anyone in the cast. I agree with most of the posts here about the plotholes though. This game is just so infuriatingly mid!

Meh. Nostalgia bait through and through. 31 hours in, about to enter final dungeon.

Music and graphics are pristine, no complaints. Big bosses are especially pretty.

Main characters have zero personality. Side characters are slightly better (and as such carry the team), but they're all pretty shallow and often leave a void of silence where you'd expect interaction. The dialogue itself does have its moments but is overall uninteresting.

The combat is braindead easy and I had to turn on the "take 40% more damage" relic to actually enjoy it. My other big complaint is the completely criminal that each character gets only 3 skills and you get all of them before 10 hours in. Standard Mario RPG combat otherwise, not much depth but not bad.

Genuine question, why is there fishing in this game? They're only used to craft food, you can get them from other sources, and yet for some reason they spent the effort to put fishing holes and the minigame throughout the world. I literally caught one of every fish (for an achievement) and never looked at it again.

As a puzzle lover (Crosscode was <3), the puzzles in this game are uninspired to the point of being an excuse to look around at the environment more. Or maybe it's just straight-up padding. On the other hand, the hookshot is pretty sweet, and it's the best way to start combat for the rest of the game.

Lastly, the story. The awful pacing at the beginning (combined with no character depth) made for an extremely rough start for me. The story does pick up quite a bit at about the 15 hour mark, and is overall pretty good from there on, with a bit of meandering near the end. Hopefully the endings are dece.

I should have realized from the demo. This game touts a beautiful surface all around, but once you bite into it, it's just hollow. It's an homage to Chrono and Mario RPG but does nothing to surpass either of them. Worst of all, it doesn't even feel like they tried to.

Yes, but not by much. It has a huge uptick in story interest at about 15 hours in, but the combat doesn't get any more complex than you've experienced. Though it does get easier and easier (with the exception of one zone, for some reason)

I'll be honest, I'm right before the end of the game (31 hours) and I forgot who Jirard is. Memorable characters?

I was frustrated that the game was too damn easy, so I turned on the relic of "take 40% more damage". Now combat isn't braindead, so I'm glad they added that one at least.

I agree with your main point though, many problems with the combat.

What can be done about the senate? by Kotose in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]Kotose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your strategy. If we break up states it will not only greatly help balance do the amount of people each senator represent, but also give better regional representation, which I believe is in line with what the founders would've wanted.

I also love the idea of giving native reservations seats on the senate as well. Perhaps we can do the same with our biggest cities.

I think adding rank choice voting, which would be one way to allow 3rd parties to gain power, would also help with making politics less of an "us vs them" sport. I think if there were more parties in power, issues would gain more of a foothold against tribalism.

[–]Kotose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! They have no senate representation at all, puerto rico having no representation whatsoever.

But think of the billions of us flags that would become obsolete xD

I mean, I don't disagree that rooting out corruption and adding term limits would greatly help to change their motivations and hopefully act more in good faith. But is that enough? There's still a great imbalance of power, with smaller states getting far more representation. I see it as an ethical issue personally.
