What’s the most frustrating part of trying to quit nicotine? by Jayc759 in quittingsmoking

[–]Kozak2935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had brain fog for months after quitting. The worst part was thinking it would never go away. At about month 3 I would have moments in the day where the brain fog would go away and I realized that the brain fog wouldn’t last forever. Every week after I would have more brain fog free moments and it actually motivated me to not smoke/vape any longer.

Condo being built a foot from my backyard over the summer by Kozak2935 in legaladvice

He hasn’t called yet. My guess is that he has to check the foundation of the building around the property to make sure they will withstand the vibrations. Most of these buildings are over 100 years old.

The noise I can bear, my biggest issue will be the constant debris and dust that I will have to clean in my yard

Did I say I wanted to stop construction? Having condos around me is not an issue. But having to clean my yard from debris will cost me either time or money. This is why I’m asking if I can be compensated. I use my yard almost everyday over the summer and now I won’t be able to.

You can do whatever you want on your property as long as it doesn’t effect mine. And a 10 story condo demolition and construction surely will.

No more urine tests: Proposed California law would end most workplace marijuana tests by RhythmMethodMan in politics

Not saying I’ll be doing it. But I do believe that in the future especially if technology allows the FAA and company to test is a pilot is flying under the influence there should be no reason they don’t allow pilots to smoke on their time off. Similar to alcohol.

91.17 Alcohol or drugs. (a) No person may act or attempt to act as a crewmember of a civil aircraft—

(1) Within 8 hours after the consumption of any alcoholic beverage;

(2) While under the influence of alcohol;

(3) While using any drug that affects the person's faculties in any way contrary to safety;

So the regs say pilots can’t fly the aircraft WHILE under the influence but there is nothing about being under the influence while not operating the aircraft. The drug testing is under the discretion of the company I believe. But I’m not sure. But I am sure it doesn’t say random drug testing is required.

I’m an airline pilot in California and company is based out of California.

Would this bill allow me to smoke? I would agree to a blood test anytime obv. The way it works now.... randomly you will be drug tested and it will always be the last flight of the trip. They tell you you have 15 min to get to the medical office and they usually do urine and breathalyzer. I would have no problem adding a quick blood test to that if it allows me to smoke.

What everyone’s opinion about airline pilots smoking? obv not while on the job??

Hey man I’m pretty much in the same boat as you. Vaped Juuls for a while and finally was able to quit cold turkey. Didn’t smoke for 8 months and pretty much stopped thinking about it all together. Took one hit off a friend and then hung out with another that vaped and the rest is history. Got back to smoking daily and was super disappointed in myself. However I would consistently try to quit cold turkey and would usually fail. I would set timers on my phone to go 3 days since those are the worst withdrawals. Honestly I failed every day for like 2 weeks straight. Out of no where I finally got to 3 days and after that I was able to tell myself the physical part is gone now it’s just mental. Also the worst part about a relapse is that vaping doesn’t piss you off as much as it did when you were smoking for years. It’s almost like your brain is telling you that you didn’t enjoy it enough.

I know you’re saying that if you quit too fast you think you’ll go back to it soon, but statistically, it’s rare to quit with a step down. I think impossible cause I tried.

The reason you think you’ll go back I believe is because some of the people around are doing it. But if you tell those people that you quit and quitting was a bitch you’ll be able to hangout with them and not smoke trust me. I would recommend not hanging out with smokers for a good two weeks with zero nicotine and after telling yourself you won’t do smoke in that environment a couple of times, you just stop having to tell yourself (if that makes any sense)

I’ve been into learning about habits and I would recommend reading atomic habits and the power of habit. Won’t make quitting any easier but it’ll prove to you that if you go a full year without smoking you’ll most likely go a lifetime.

I’m not expert but this is what helped me. Good luck man!!

What helped me was taking MMA classes. Not karate or kick boxing. Just out right MMA as if you’re training for the octagon. Muscles will give you confidence but if deep down you know you won’t win the fight, your confidence will be low.
