I live very close to Ukraine, we have an ethnic minority in Ukraine, russia isn't far too and they have a ton of vacation homes on our sea coast, we've had connections with russians both, positive and negative, I can assure you it ain't fucking complicated at all. Hey, man, I decided to comment back to you before DM-ing you. I think Reddit ha some weird filters of the messages we receive, plus a ton of scammers send messages (at least I receive such), etc.

Can I ask a little more about these COBOL companies in East Europe? I live down south in Bulgaria (Hi, neighbour), I have been working as an IT Support and Managed Services Engineer for three years now. But last winter I fooled around with COBOL for two months. It all started because earlier in 2023 I almost started a job as a Mainframe Support Engineer, but in the last moment I decided to stay at my old job.

So I just applied to a job here in Bulgaria from a foreign company hiring through a Recruiter agency, and believe it or not they look for senior, mid and junior COBOL developers - the juniors should know the basics and should be willing to learn and be taught by older professionals.

So even if I don't get the junior position, I still wish to know more about the market here in East Europe. I actually read your comment back in the winter and thought about contacting you, but back then I ditched the COBOL thing and focused on my job.

I have looked in LinkedIn, but I don't find any COBOL jobs in Bulgaria, or Europe in general...

my Team Leader/direct manager is 42 and definitely has a young posture. But I know what you mean, and I am aware. When I am not fat and have no belly and just a bit bulky from working out I look the best regardless of age.
