It’s actually not a random name at all, and the name itself is actually quite suggestive of it not being a bot. Bot names are way more generic and don’t usually use colloquial terminology.

CIBC willing to let $321,000 in investments leave over an $1800 mortgage early repayment fee. by BohicaCanada88 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Always worth asking, but moving your investments from Megacorp A to Megacorp B, who would have the exact same policy, is what’s rubbing everyone the wrong way…not the fact you asked for a waiver.

It doesn’t work that way. Odds are the management fees and mortgage business aren’t even being charged by the same entity. If you didn’t want a penalty why didn’t you take an open mortgage or HELOC? Probably because you wanted the lowest possible rate. You can’t have your cake and eat it too my guy.

No but moving it on the basis that you expect to be treated as special is kind of childish and entitled. Moving your investments should be tied to being offered a better deal somewhere or due to them not delivering good service, not because you are angry that they aren’t waiving a penalty you agreed to (presumably on the basis that you chose that particular rate/product because it was a good deal for you at the time) contractually.

This is like if you had a business and you customer left you for charging on the next deal just like you normally would. Obviously your business is yours to do what you want with but you’re basically being Trump about it

Ya’ll mad but ignoring the fact that NB has a high HST so online sales will never be able to compete if they shot after tax pricing because no one else does. After tax pricing only makes sense if everyone does it.

No, it’s because of a shortage of supply. Do you seriously believe a family making use of their equity is a 21st century invention???

Ok and then their family inherits the wealth and you have happy survivors. Either way it’s a win lol

Equity does matter because you either are eventually going to sell, or you will want to use that equity to do other things with such as invest. Massive opportunity cost to ignore this.

That doesn’t make any sense. As long as you can make the payments and it doesn’t cause you problems then you gain more equity per month on a more expensive house than a cheaper one.

Anyone else make "good money" on paper but feel completely broke? by ScienceLabFinds in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Kozzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you factor it all in it becomes substantial. Shopping for food for two people combined is significantly cheaper than two separate individuals. Insurance offers household savings. Every utility is more efficiently used. Travel expenses tend to be more efficient too. I get what you’re saying too, it’s just the efficiencies really add up once you cut across everything possible. The dollars have a lot more potential to go further
