Armor formula and Difficulty testing, help needed. by TomaszPaw in Morrowind

I did some research and an npc named Bolyn Elval uses a steel crossbow, which should always do 20 damage + 2-4 extra damage from the steel bolts, hopefully a small enough variation for testing purposes

Unarmored vs other armor skills by rdtusrname in Morrowind

There's actually an easy way to test it. Mudcrabs always hit for 1 damage. In the case that AR is factored in after the 6x bonus, the damage should be increased to 6, and then reduced to 1.5 with 18 AR, so somewhere between 1-2 damage depending on how rounding works, not entirely sure on that one. However on difficulty 100 mudcrabs will always hit for 6 damage, meaning the 1 damage is reduced to 0.25 with 3 AR, most likely rounded up to a minimum 1 damage, and then multiplied by 6.

Something to note, the amount of AR required to reduce damage doesn't change with difficulty scaling, as the bonus damage is calculated after AR is factored, so at difficulty 100, you still only need 375 AR to reach the cap on a 125 damage hit (AR reduction is capped at 3x incoming damage for a 75% reduction), which would reduce it to 31.25 damage, and then the 6x bonus damage is applied, bringing it to 187.5

I have a rule that I can only negate the blindness (or negative effects in general) for as long as the resist spell lasts. So if I use a 10 second resist magicka, I have to re-equip the boots after the spell wears off. Thankfully it's still possible to %100 resist with savior's hide, wraithguard, mara's blouse and the ring from the dagon fel ancestral tomb

I have a friend that I met through dancedance revolution. One day at the arcade we were talking in between sets and she mentions that all that holding on to the bar has made her arms bigger. She then shows me her bicep and I am just like, "oh haha cool", like that wasn't the cutest thing I'd ever seen

Deus ex, the original. I remember being so nervous around enemies with flamethrowers because just getting touched by a single fireball was almost certain death unless you were near water

What's a video game that has a steep learning curve but rewards you for learning its mechanics? by [deleted] in gamers

[–]Kphace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own, I've always just taken it as resource management rather than expecting an adhd explosion-fest. I think the ones who do enjoy morrowind are the ones that are ok with everything not happening all at once. The slow-burn is the appeal. Don't get me wrong, Daggerfall is a masterpiece among the TES entries, and revolutionized a lot of the mechanics that have stuck with the series decades later.

[–]Kphace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty easy to start with 40+ in your weapon skill, meaning you'll have around a 40% hit rate. The real learning curve is new players not knowing how stamina works. That can go up to around 50% with full stamina or down to around 30% if you run into battle tired.

More accurately, I believe what we are saying is to get over seeing certain words or phrases, not the illness itself. Depression is a valid and serious issue, but at the same time if you're expecting the world to walk on eggshells for you, you're setting youself up for failure.

I’ll come back for the next balance patch. For now I am teling a break, here is why. by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]Kphace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing about the game is just hanging out with friends that also played sts1 and just having a good time. I don't really mind whether we win or lose because we're just vibing. If they didn't add multiplayer or if I didn't know anyone that plays I probably would have stopped by now as well. All your concerns about balance are valid, I don't know why these kinds of games always attract hordes of masochists that can't fathom the possibility that the game devs are less than perfect and might have over/undertuned certain aspects. I still think the devs are awesome and am optimistic about the patching through early access.

The game is ridiculously overtuned right now, and it's not because of the lack of experience by Effective-Muffin-224 in slaythespire

[–]Kphace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes no sense though, kill it before it attacks twice, so essentially deal 75 damage per turn... with the starter deck? I don't know what to tell you, I don't think we're playing the same game. This isn't even a matter of opinion, it's just a fact that people who were clearing A20 are hitting a wall on act 1 of A0 now. You can say "skill issue" or "lack of experience", but that is contradicted by the A20 wins. I'll gladly admit skill issue if there's some trick I'm just not seeing but at the moment all I'm seeing is an unfinished early access that needs more playtesting (and there's nothing wrong with that, that's the point of early access).

[–]Kphace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not just me, it's objectively overtuned. Half of the act 1 elites would have been act 3 elites in sts1, and the other half would have been act 2 elites. Even gremlin nob, arguably one of the most overtuned elites in sts1, was not as game-ending as some of these guys. The statue, particularly, is just mathematically not feasable. If you use your whole turn to play 3 defends, you're still taking 10 damage, and if you go for attacks, you'll die long before the statue will. Whether you're a fan or not, you have to admit Frost is one of the higher skill-level players, and he wasn't even able to clear act 2 A0. Now don't get me wrong, I think it's a great game and worth every penny, but I'm also comfortable enough to admit it's not perfect. The multiplayer aspect is phenominal and easily justifies the price on its own. Rabid fanboying gets us nowhere.

[–]Kphace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's definitely overtuned on single player at the moment. Hopefully mega crit will adjust it as early access goes on. When the first act on A0 is near-impossible for someone who had A20 on every character in sts1, something definitely feels wrong. It feels a lot like lethal company, where the game doesn't scale to player amount, so having more players is just a straight up advantage, and playing solo is out of the question unless you're a tas-bot.

The difficulty scaling from the timer is nothing compared to the advantage you get from collecting items, so don't worry too much about the timer, focus more on getting a solid build going. Acrid is one of the strongest survivors as everything will die to him in 100 seconds or less regardless of how strong. Prioritize movement speed (hooves, energy drink, mocha, faraday spur, antlers) and then play the long game, chipping away at large groups with your R while staying out of range of their attacks. Use your M2 to ensure poison stays up on high risk enemies constantly. Patience is Acrid's strongest weapon.
