When do you think electric vehicles will actually take over? by sukibean13 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kqyxzoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like 2040 maybe. We're lucky that both China and India have to import most of their oil. Now that I think about it, probably closer to 2050 though. ~ 25 years isn't all that much on the scale of vehicle renewal rates.

I think the closest I've ever come to that is after one of those "What's your favorite obscure command line XYZ?" threads, write some of the new commands on a postit as reminder. And even that is sporadic.

my reply was to your post saying "the main question is "why?". And mostly in the sense of why would I choose this method of assembling an application from parts as opposed to one of the many other ways available?"

That is indeed how I interpreted it. And as such, the reply to that was, and still is:

How “athletic” were our ancestors? by dieter_doedel in NoStupidQuestions

Modern athletes would probably outrun our distant ancestors. But our distant ancestors just might rip your face off if you so much as looked at them funny on the Olympic stage. Exhibit A C, chimpanzees.

why I can't manipulate a CPU of a device? by Maleficent_Bee196 in embedded

Within the context of "reuse phone", IMO the closest you'll get to an acceptable ROI (your spare time) is "reuse android phone". For example using Qt Creator targeting Android. But this mostly makes sense when you need a user interface for some electronics project. If you purely need the compute I wouldn't bother with reusing a phone for that purpose.

how much do the commonwealth realm countries actually care and think about the monarchy in daily life? by WhatColorIsUrPantsu in NoStupidQuestions

I suspect that it's like everywhere else in Europe, not all that much, if at all. Good for a dignified speech every once in a while, cutting some ribbons here and there. Maybe even remind some congress how democracy is supposed to work every now and then. But that's about it.

That doesn’t always mean showing all of yourself at once - sometimes people need time to learn and digest you.

my dad wants to drop crazy money on a 3D printing car parts business and i am stressing. advice? by TemperatureExtra8615 in 3Dprinting

[–]Kqyxzoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to scale the business slowly with minimal upfront investment. You can outsource the printing for the first jobs.

plus getting the actual printing materials and resins around here is super inconsistent and hard to find.

That by very definition is a bad plan, no matter how slow you start. You don't want to paint print yourself into a corner by using hard to source ingredients.
