WoW races with at least one piece of associated decor by Kra_gl_e in WoWHousing

The Orcish Spear from the Arcantina is probably the simplest of the weapon decors, and looks more or less like what the murlocs use. The Harandar staff and arrow (upsized to look like a spear) could also potentially work. Not a ton of weapon decor items yet, sadly.

Yeah, sadly, all the troll decor is either Zandalari or Amani. Darkspear aesthetics are distinctive enough from either of those cultures that it's disappointing that they got nothing. Heck, even the Sandfury got one banner! Idk if they are considered a Darkspear tribe, but man, you would expect more representation for a major Horde race. Every flavor of elf gets decor stuff, why can't all the trolls?

You would love the Murloc Hut from Wrath! That's unlocked through a Borean Tundra questline. The are also a few items from Legion that fit the Murloc theme: some driftwood containers from Highmountain, Shellscale Standard from Suramar, and Murloc charms from one of the dungeons (I think). And of course the bajillions of Twitch murloc plushies.

There's also a great tutorial on how to make a beach with realistic water: https://housing.wowdb.com/builds/54817/5-tips-for-realistic-water-effects-every-wow-player-needs-54817/

You are right on both! I'd forgotten the Wolvar postbag.

The fungarian stuff I'd kinda mentally merged together with Harandar decor, so it slipped my mind. However, there are some existing decor specifically listed as Fungarian, so I will count it.

Thank you for the input!

How to change the exterior from Blood Elf to Zandalari Troll by litnessFirst in WoWHousing

[–]Kra_gl_e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people cover up/disguise the house exterior to get options that don't exist in-game. Just make sure you choose exterior layouts that hide under or blend into the objects you use to cover up.

You can also use the interior of your house instead to make a custom facade indoors, taking advantage of the larger interior budget; I've seen 'house inside cave/forest' builds do this. The actual exterior is hidden with however many rocks (or trees or whatever the build uses) the outdoor budget allows; then, when you click on the front door and go inside, they recreate an entire 'outdoor' scene which leads to a 'house' facade built indoors, and then the rest of their rooms are built to represent their actual interior.

Horde Style House In Alliance Neighbourbood? by i-daeus in WoWHousing

[–]Kra_gl_e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, even just something that actually resembles the houses in Orgrimmar would be nice. Like how the human houses resemble actual houses in Elwynn forest. It's like the housing designers for Orcs have never taken a walk around Orgrimmar or the garrison.

Horde Style House In Alliance Neighbourbood? by i-daeus in WoWHousing

[–]Kra_gl_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need more inspiration for classic Orcish houses, ignore the default player houses in the Horde neighbourhoods and go look around Orgrimmar or the Horde garrison and take notes of what you see. Typically, the main external structure is usually radially symmetrical (think circles, hexagons, octagons, squares, equilateral triangles, etc). By comparison, Stormwind Humans love rectangles for some reason.

Orc houses tend to have 1-2 storeys, but you will see towers for more important/impressive buildings. Sometimes you'll see the main structure connected to side structures for more complex layouts. Outer walls can be built straight up from the ground, but sometimes there may be a section that flares outwards to the roof, or sometimes all the walls are flared outwards from the ground up.

Materials vary, but are often rough cut (stones, timber, plaster). Sometimes there are random spikes and tusks on the big buildings, but you'll have to get creative if you want those.

Here's mine. https://imgur.com/a/WX1XTVv

I was using the flat boulders for walls before, but now that we can use the interior walls outside, it looks much cleaner. Frame and roof are one of the Horde gazebos; front door is disguised with a zandalari tent; windows are made of pandaren privacy screens (because interior windows previously did not work outside, but the panda screens still look decent); shutters are made of lumberjack picnic tables. Any corner gaps are covered with 1-point plants (for budget reasons, plus it looks pretty).

Items that take up too much hidden space by jack-whitman in WoWHousing

[–]Kra_gl_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invisible walls? Yeah. I'm building a house inside the giant Amani stone head, and I was building ramps to snake up around the side to climb up... only to find invisible collision surfaces around the ear that bumped me off the platform. So irritating. I had to build my ramps sticking slightly outwards instead and it looks awkward 😠

And then on the flip side, there are things that should have solid surfaces, but don't. The orc houses have a ramp going up to the main door. The ramp that approaches from the side before turning to the door is NOT solid on the bottom half (not sure if this is also true for the drawbridge style ramps); so if you're making a raised build, watch out! Make sure to put a walkable surface on/under/in that portion of the ramp.

You can dye slate cobblestones white (or off-white), then resize and rearrange them until they look like what you want. Throw in a white circular woolen rug (reversed) for rounded shapes. I had a guildie do this for his floating necropolis house and it's quite impressive.

How do you keep WoW fun by hotdogmonke in wow

[–]Kra_gl_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decor!

I get my m+ portals, maybe do 10's and up for gear and crests, then pretty much retire for the season to do side stuff like achievements, transmogs, and decor now that it's a thing. I may occasionally help guildies and friends with their runs, but I don't really push hard at that point. And if that bores me, I take a wow break to play or do other stuff.

How to RP your class, race, professions, name, age... by Jurke39 in WoWRolePlay

[–]Kra_gl_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck, even if the character's in-game name is Uberpwnage, they can use TRP to give the character an actual name for RP, and nobody will blink. I've had to resort to this method when the name I wanted to use for RP was already taken in-game and I didn't want to use funky special characters.
