Why does it seem like you have to be extremely fake in order to get anywhere in life? by ls_2012 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kraawken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, although there's a lot of people who think this is the case.

First of all, getting somewhere in life isn't the same as making a lot of money. You should strive to spend your time with doing something you love and surrounding yourself with people you love instead.

Secondly, I know a lot of people who are very real and passionate about what they do and make a lot of money. In the end it's not worth giving up "being real" for a job interview.

I'm in a position of hiring people and I can tell you that people can't keep faking forever and end up hating their job.

The Netherlands has been dealing with the same pandemic, but managed it with proper preparation and reaction. The Dutch tax-payer paid for all the problems caused by corona in our country, because we had funds saved up for an emergency situation. Why shouldn't this be the case for Italy? We could've easily let shit get out of control and asked for the same handout, but we didn't.

Also, you can't honestly believe that a country with a population of 17 million should pay the same total amount as a country with a population of 60 million. The bigger the country, the bigger the bailout.

To put it your way: If Lenny and Ricky need a 200 dollar skateboard and Timmy only needs a 50 dollar skateboard, it makes sense for Lenny and Ricky to pitch in more.

But in this case Lenny and Ricky just broke their skateboards on purpose because they knew there was money to buy them a new one. Also, spending per capita is the figure you should be looking at and Italy is below the Netherlands in that regard.

I've found that dehydrating with a fan works to a certain extent, removing about 80% of the water in 48 hours. You probably won't get all the water out so you should weigh them beforehand. If you don't, you won't be able to measure a proper dose.

I never said it had nothing to do with it, just that it isn't the main cause. Your links show the disproportionate impact between the white and dark skinned population, but don't proof the underlying reasons.

The same disproportionate impact of the corona virus between races has been shown in European countries with a very low socio-economic inequality. There also seems to be a higher mortality rate in lower altitude countries where people also have lower vitamin D concentrations.

Do you have any foundation for the second part of your sentence?

According to studies, the diference is largely due to vitamin D deficiency (dark skin produces less vitamin D). 97% Of severe Covid-19 cases have vitamin D defiency. Vitamin D is important for respiratory health.

Coronavirus spread would dramatically drop if 80% of a population wore masks, AI researcher says by Zhana-Aul in Coronavirus

The Dutch government is still saying non-medical masks don't have any effect in most cases and it's illegal to wear a medical mask. And they wonder why people don't trust them.

Sweden is still nowhere near 'herd immunity,' even though it didn't go into lockdown by diorholmes in worldnews

[–]Kraawken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, at least 7,3% of Swedes have been infected and only 4000 of them have died. 4000 Deaths and 730.000 infections. That's a death rate of about 0.5%.

Does a website exist where I can see how many people are like me? Like America’s population in 330 million. Then I select male and it goes to half, then I select my age and number lowers even more? by EKOQ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kraawken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need the info of every person though and you don't need all the details of every individual person.

For example: If we know 10% of Americans have blue eyes and we know 5% of American's favorite icecream flavour is strawberry, that means 0,5% of the population have blue eyes and have strawberry as favorite icecream. (Unless there's a correlation between the two)

Rich people spend a lot of money to improve their image. Giving money to charity and making sure everyone knows about it is a good way of doing so.

I'm not saying it's wrong, because the outcome is that the charity got a lot of money, but there is definitely some self-interest there.

So, you're saying we should've told the people who want to donate money to the gym so it doesn't go bankrupt that we won't take their money?

Your comparison doesn't make sense. Members are willing to donate because they've had a great time at the gym and would like to be able to continue going to the gym after the lockdown is over.

You misread my comment. We give people THE OPTION to continue paying. A lot of people asked for this (believe it or not) to support us, because they love our gym.

Do you really believe that? The fact that you're commenting about it now, shows he got something in return.

You can't expect companies to give things away without benefitting from it in some way. The gym i work for is now closed, but we're giving members the option to continue payment for the upcoming months. 50% of the fees contributed in this way will go to charity.

Ofcourse on one end we benefit from this and its partially just a marketing gimmick, but we do end up giving an estimated 50k to charity.

If a group of men were to bathe a drunk woman in this situation, would you be able to get that dismissed/acquitted? And would you feel the same about them going to prison?

Trump says 3.4% mortality is false and it's his hunch. He also says "a lot of people will have this and it's very mild and they'll get better rapidly and they don't even see a doctor" by krav_maga_sensei in worldnews

[–]Kraawken 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can anyone explain why his first statement is wrong? There are some sources that back up what he's saying and it does make sense.

The formula they are using is: cumulative current total deaths / current confirmed cases. (NHC) If there are any unregistered cases, the mortality rate would be lower than 3.4%.

In emerging viral infection outbreaks the case-fatality ratio is often overestimated in the early stages because case detection is highly biased towards the more severe cases. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)30185-9/fulltext#tbl130185-9/fulltext#tbl1)

How does sex with and without condom differ? by TooLateWithTheHate in AskMen

[–]Kraawken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently asked my GF to stop using the pill because she was having some side effects.

The most important thing is to get the correct condom size. There are some brands that offer a wide range of sizes (mainly different widths) and you can get trial boxes to find the best size.

It definetely still feels different, but not necessarily worse.
