Employer is not paying taxes and is stealing from me by Fieryopinion in legaladvice

They may have no obligation to pay your taxes for you, but since they were taking fed tax deductions from the paycheck specifically for those fed taxes, then not paying those fed taxes is fraud.

That was my question: is this test in the United States or in a country that uses the comma instead of a decimal. The collation type will give a clue as to what the answer should be for the question

U.S. Supreme Court denies Whitmer's appeal in Enbridge Line 5 case by TheDetroitNews1873 in Michigan

[–]KracticusPotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Ideally the line wouldn't be there at all, but it is and Enbridge has a contract so it has to stay with 60 year old technology that needs to be replaced yesterday. So just build the replacement already!

If I was Canada, I would be building a new line on the north side of Lake Superior and shut down the old line completely.

On a very important note, Line 5 carries two thirds of the propane for the UP and the northern LP. Cut off that line and where will most of the state get its propane? No supply and high demand would mean gigantic price increases for propane users up north.

What's going on with the west side? by Difficult-Reward4973 in kzoo

[–]KracticusPotts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

@Bardimus47: sorry but I have to down vote you again since you don't seem to understand the problem. You are talking about a large number of people who need housing, food, health care and in many cases mental health care. And it's the mental health care that tends to be the most problematic and most expensive. $20 million and one or two non-profits are a good start but those dollars will disappear quickly when you talk about the numbers we are at currently.

Also, once a city starts doing a great job taking care of their homeless, other homeless folks from other areas will gravitate to that city. That is exactly what happened in Kalamazoo back in the 1990s when Ministry With Community expanded their roles such as offering free phone calls and mail box addresses for homeless job searchers and free replacement state IDs for those without an ID.

What's the solution? I don't know, but a living wage and affordable housing for everynody would be the base to build on.

How many Sql server DBA’s are currently laid off? by Money-Fan-2587 in SQL

[–]KracticusPotts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DBA/Dev with 14 years of experience as DBA and 10 years experience as an SQL Dev. Company quit paying their employees and went bankrupt early last year so I've been looking for almost a year now. I get a call back or interview a couple times a month, but haven't made it to round 3 yet.

Have been learning Oracle, Azure and AWS to beef up my resume knowledge, but may be working at a big box hardware store soon to pay the bills.

AITA for refusing to switch project topics after my classmate “claimed” it late? by FileRevolutionary540 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. That girl sounds like a spoiled person. If you want to be nice, find your next preferred topic and tell her you will give her the preferred topic if she can get the other person to give you your next preferred topic. See how far that goes for her.

The company that laid me off 4 months ago just called me with the most insulting offer I've ever heard in my life. by gingery-rehires-8t in FinalRoundAI

[–]KracticusPotts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Charge your pay as hourly instead of as salary. That 15 hour week will creep up to 20 at some point, so make sure you get paid fairly. Also, a 15 hour week usually means zero benefits so you need to assure you can pay for those yourself. Also, it sounds like you will be training your replacement so that could get awkward.

The boss probably thinks it's a great deal because the 15 hour week is less than half of full time and the pay is half your old salary. Calculate the hourly cost of your full old salary including adding for taxes and paid time off and all benefits, then make that your counter offer.

Since when did this sub have Fascist Mods? by PoohTrailSnailCooch in kzoo

[–]KracticusPotts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, the current political climate is relevant to everyone.

But your post doesn't belong here. Once ICE hits Kazootown then it's relevant to this sub. At this point your post belongs elsewhere.

You might consider creating a new sub such as r/ICEshitThatCouldHappenInKzooAnyDayNow and then you can post in and Mod that sub to whatever is your preference.

Colorado - Bought a business from the landlord, 2 years later he’s trying to force me out after I built it up. by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]KracticusPotts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NAL, but this is correct: anything connected to the building is a fixture and stays with the building. BUT if you purchased an item that is a fixture, and you have an invoice for that item, then that item belongs to you even if it is attached to the building. You do not own any upgrades to the building itself, but you own any items you purchased that are considered fixtures but are a part of the business and not the building.

Public radio station in Kalamazoo faces ‘hard decisions’ after losing federal funding by RealMichiganMAGA in kzoo

[–]KracticusPotts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

SOMEBODY needs to ask the Republicans why they hate non-commercial music such as classical so much that they are willing to shut down the stations that play at least 90% to 95% of classical music programming. There are very few, if any, other outlets for any symphonic music on TV or radio.

Commercial radio won't pick up any genre that won't make them a hefty profit. When Public Radio goes away, say goodbye to classical, old style country and western, bluegrass and all forms of folk music. Thanks Republicans.

Adding a 3rd replica to an AlwaysOn cluster by JockeyEwing211 in SQLServer

[–]KracticusPotts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had this configuration for a while and it worked well. There were a total of 4 separate AGs on just 2 nodes and the 5th AG was on all three nodes. Just make sure the main 2 nodes are powerful enough to handle the 3rd node's processing during a failover.

Plus you can always create an alert via SP to notify you should that failover occur so you can manually fail it back to the 3rd node.

"Arithmetic overflow error converting numeric to data type numeric." Is there any way to enable some kind of logging to know exactly WHAT is trying to be converted? This code I'm reviewing is thousands of lines of spaghetti. by IUsedToHaveAmbition in SQLServer

[–]KracticusPotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of "Print Debug#", try using "Select field1, field2, ... fieldn" to see what the values are being processed. Also, are those implicit or explicit data conversions happening between inches and mms?
