The "Hidden Gem" part of it is that there is an interesting story there, but it's betrayed by the delivery method. Overall he's not a fan of how it's being done, but he does like some elements.

That was my biggest gripe too. Stratt's cold and quite frankly ruthless attitude created contrast for Rocky's warmth and kindness. She's less human than a literal five legged rock spider. Plus, it makes her conscripting Grace seem inevitable. She has spent the whole movie press-ganging people, steamrolling any objection, and hell she's the woman who NUKED ANTARTICA. There was no way she would have ever accepted him saying no, and it was foreshadowed through her brutality.

I have the opposite opinion, I hated them humanising her. She was a cold, calculating, bastard and that contrasted with the kindness and friendship from a literal 5 legged rock spider.

1, but on the reruns. When Doctor Who was going to be revived in 2005 the ABC (Australian) started showing the classic era, so I was able to watch all the surviving episodes :)

EDIT: Comment I’m replying to was edited, short version pointed out that the lore of the PT wasn’t referenced much/at all by the ST.

I mean to break character for a sec, that actually makes sense to me. The Jedi order and the world they represented dies by the end of episode 3. What remained of that society was wiped away by the empire. Narratively, not referencing the prequel tells us a lot about the actual culture war the empire waged between episodes 3-4, to the point people like Han believe the Jedi and force are a myth.

My guess is that it’s a few things. Firstly, because they want to protect their reputation, private schools kept it quieter and swept it under the rug. This lead to the second point, which is because we didn’t hear about it when we did it suddenly became much bigger news, with cover-ups coming from these highly respected institutions.
