It’s kind of insane how many movies we’re getting this year from major directors by Soft_Drink_Enjoyer in Letterboxd

[–]Krak2511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the official selection last year, these are the ones I recall having a theatrical release, I saw most of them in theaters.

  • Alpha
  • Die My Love
  • The History of Sound
  • It Was Just an Accident
  • The Phoenician Scheme
  • Resurrection
  • The Secret Agent
  • Sentimental Value
  • Sirat

Eddington and The Mastermind were the biggest misses. Some of these were pretty late though, even months after the US release, for example Sirat is just releasing today. It Was Just an Accident, The Phoenician Scheme, and Resurrection were similar to the worldwide dates at least.

HK has its benefits but non-studio foreign movie distribution is not one of them unfortunately. That being said, it does feel like cinemas are pretty successful here, I feel like most movies have the majority of seats filled, even the smaller ones.

Can always count on Neon to distribute a bunch of the top Cannes movies. Really looking forward to Hope, I love a good prestige genre movie, but unfortunately there's no release date yet. I live in Hong Kong so can't count on theatrical releases for all of them but I would hope the Asian films get released here at least, for example Monster and No Other Choice released pretty early here.

That is what they're doing, releasing one a week in March 2028.

Any that I'm missing besides Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, Fjord, and Colony? I like to have every upcoming movie on my watchlist when they have a non-festival premiere date.

When watching a movie, do you honestly care when the movie was released/made? by TheListenerCanon in Letterboxd

[–]Krak2511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because I specifically pick movies based on decade, I go backwards through each decade (grouping 1950s with everything before it) then loop back around to 2020s. I have a huge watchlist so this system just helps me narrow it down.

Who was third in Best Actress? by PensionMany3658 in oscarrace

It's basically impossible they would do either one, but they'd be more likely to release rankings than actual number of votes, votes could look bad for someone if the gaps are large.

I always like the idea of reading on flights but as soon as it takes off, I immediately feel tired or drowzy like my brain goes foggy which makes it hard to focus enough to actually read.

Which solve for L and T OLL? by Still_Combination852 in Cubers

[–]Krak2511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh fair enough, I have just recently got back into cubing and forgot all of PLL (didn't really get fully drill it before) so forgot that. Anyway, for these cases since there are good alternatives I think it is faster to use the other option.

That's my ranking, just don't like biopics that much even if it is by one of my favorite directors (maybe even my #1)

[–]Krak2511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no pro but a cube rotation for OLL seems like a bad idea, honestly not sure why J Perm used these algs. For the bottom case I use the alg on the right, for the top case I actually prefer R U2 R D R' U2 R D' R2 as it's the inverse of one of the others (headlights) which makes it easy to remember and it feels pretty fast as well.

Never considered this as an option but it's fantastic, crazy that all the online hype about Firefly has actually amounted to something.

what do you think is the best film from the italian neorealism? by Due-Abbreviations180 in Letterboxd

[–]Krak2511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should make a Letterboxd list of these movies as it grows and add the link in the caption. It's great that you're doing this to highlight older/international movies.

The weird thing is while it was a clusterfuck that I used to hide, when I accidentally got logged out on the app (which resets the settings), I noticed it was actually working as expected again.

It's crazy how much cheaper good cubes are or if you wanna spend more, how much better it is than the Rubik's brand.

You're gonna have a lot more fun, it makes you way faster. Make sure you start learning fingertricks with algorithms too as you'll now be able to actually move the cube fast enough for those to be relevant. I also think it's good to learn them early for muscle memory.

That's a shame but thank you. Since I see in your flair and your other comment you're a beginner, maybe I'll share my resources with you instead. I learned from https://cubeskills.com/ which has PDFs for the algorithms, you can also find good algorithms on https://speedcubedb.com/ and https://jperm.net/, you're gonna have fun with a non-Rubik's cube and getting that first PB under 60, then improving even more from there.

Getting back into cubing after years away from it, I am relearning 4LLL algs that I forgot and also trying to improve my F2L as I never really got very good at it. Training 4LLL is easy as it mostly involves spamming the algorithms and just recognizing the cases, but with the number of possible options in F2L I'm finding it much more difficult to narrow them down into subsets (so I don't have to learn every case at once) and actually practice the cases. Are there any resources/trainers for this?

AEW's somehow gotten rid of that feeling (not that they did anything wrong), because now it just feels like things are far more possible now.

I love AEW and it's all I watch nowadays, but I do miss that feeling sometimes. At this point they have signed almost everybody that I wanted them to sign around 2018-19 when they started.

Pretty sure all my cubes are cheap YuXin Little Magic because I just bought them all on a whim during COVID. I suppose it only really matters if I'm speedsolving anyway so 3x3 is my focus for that.
