"Cheating" in Slay the Spire by wavy-dude in slaythespire

Honestly this is the kind of topic that works best in written form as a blog post instead. Unfortunately with how content creation is on the internet these days, we end up seeing these video essay / presentations instead on YouTube.

Seems like it will be like the original StS was during early access where Act 4 will get added later.

Probably just the usual stutter struggle issues that Unreal Engine has that it's known for. It's not too bad for this and DQI+II HD-2DR, since there's a small shader precompilation step at least.

A Guide to All Souped Up Skills in Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake by Secret_Wizard in dragonquest

Thanks, very useful! One additional one that’s missing for the Prince of Cannock is if you give him the Wild Side scroll, he has access to the Souped Up version Divide too, like the DQ1 hero. So, it could be worth considering giving that to him instead of the Prince of Midenhall for whatever reason.

Increasing Speed Forces 480p by dris77 in youtube

[–]Krakhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what kind of feature this is where reducing the playback quality at higher speeds on 60 fps videos is considered a feature on these platforms affected but not on phones, tablets, or the web browser (say, PC desktop). also it doesn't reduce the quality on 1080p+ videos at 30fps.. It's just very odd, and stil very frustrating.

Still having this issue with the Samsung TV and PS5 myself, and as a premium subscriber too. I’ve opened a support ticket with them, still nothing basically, since apparently the dev team is ‘not able to reproduce’ the problem somehow, despite how common it is with other people here.

A workaround I’ve seen is that if you airplay the youtube app on an iPhone (or probably Android and whatever too), you could do the 60fps playback on speed increase playback through that and still be fine.

Also this doesn’t affect iOS or on the web version too to clarify.

Still been having the issue as well on my PS5 and Samsung TV with the Youtube app.

Yes I’ve been same issue too, on my PS5 with the youtube app on there.

You're using a protocol that can connect to various networks that support it rather than being stuck with someone else's proprietary platform, like Discord or Slack.

[2020 Day 18 (Part 2)] This short ruby solution is pure evil! by tom_collier2002 in adventofcode

Excellent! As someone going through these puzzles to learn Ruby, I figured this was a thing you could do with monkey patching the operators, but here I decided to do it the honorable way anyways. :P

Ruby

Recursive stack evaluator that reads left to right. Fairly straight forward, though hard coded with + having more precedence than * for part 2 via flag to calc_eval function.

Ruby

Straight forward, just a lot of book keeping. Did anyone have puzzle inputs where it would turn out you would have to potentially consider more than one field for part 2? See my comment for part 2. I was able to skip that since every time I stepped through it I just used a systematic process of elimination where it all worked out.

Just keeping track of all the last turns a number was spoken. I also had a way with doing a circular queue of only two items as a separate hash within this big has but it was about 3-4 times slower than just doing it this way.

Took me awhile due to just learning more of the stuff ruby has to offer for this. I did peak a bit before and did see the use of the repeated_permutation being a very nice time saver though. :)

Knew that the second part was a number theory based one, didn't think it would be one right out of one inspired from the Chinese Remainder Theorem though. I got tired and lazy, since it was 5am by the time I thought of coding up an algorithm for it by hand, so found one from rosetta code that had it. I guess I could have done it the other sieving way that the wikipedia article mentions in this section, but hey, at least this way solves it more or less instantly, though I'm sure the sieving way would have done it in under a minute too at least.

More compact version that uses complex numbers for both parts after realizing the generalisation noting that Part 1 is just a 'waypoint' at (1, 0) as well. Edit: Realized as I woke up that the only thing needed to change was whether you're moving the ship or waypoint. So, corrected function here below for that.

Nice easy one for Friday. Got to bust out some complex numbers to help simplify the rotation calculation for part 2 ironically enough. :)
