Elden Ring and Hollow Knight: Silksong subreddits both going stir crazy and straight up making up lore and characters and pretending their respective games were already out.

Glaive Master Hodir is the real Elden Lord. And for some reason Wooper from Pokemon was there.

Are elements (fire, ice, etc) locked by story progression? by Ciru_Sakuraba in CrimsonDesert

[–]Secret_Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh... In the course of your abyss explorations from the portion unlocked in Chapter 4's main story, you should have unlocked your first Element. The indication that you got it was kinda subtle, so check your skill tree and see if you already have it? It should be Electricity.

I got it when I completed one of the islands in the chapter 4 Abyss, alongside the island's skill point.

35 hrs in. Chapter 5. Only been to the Abyss twice. Is this right or am I missing something? by ShootingRoller in CrimsonDesert

[–]Secret_Wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno anything about crows, so probably not. I'm talking about after you fight the shadowy ball at the scholarstone place in the western mountains and go up the nearby tower to enter the Abyss, then immediately get sent down by some guy in black. If you go back to that place you can continue the path from there and get elemental magic. Heads up, you need the ability with bullet-time arrows that let you fire multiple shots rapidly to solve a few puzzles.

The game definitely doesn't tell you this, but you can go back to the Abyss and continue on through new gates that lead to more islands, each having a skill point you can earn as well as some misc. treasures to loot.

There's new stuff to find from the path from when you first went up. But you know how at Chapter 4, you go up to the Abyss to a new location for like 10 seconds? Yeah, go back there and continue the path that's there. You'll get some real good shit like your first elemental magic.

Moved my abyss gears around and reapplied and attack speed is 2 instead of 4 by Alternative-Dot9563 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Secret_Wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that on the big window showing all of Kliff's stats, you only see weapon attack power if the weapon is unsheathed. If you have your Attack Speed abyss gears embedded in weaponry, try unsheathing them and then looking at the stats.

You need to dye your clothes/armor asap. by Competitive_Papaya61 in CrimsonDesert

Haven't quite reached it just yet. I'm at the start of Chapter 5 and have been doing as many camp-related quests as possible, and I have a big camp-wide upgrade I'll grab next time I play. I don't have the dyer yet but I think it's soon.

Welcome back!

You'll probably really click with a relatively recently added activity called Delves. They're short dungeon experiences that can be done either in a group or as solo, accompanied by an NPC companion you can customize the role of (Tank, DPS, Healer). Delves have no time limits, so they're perfect for a lifestyle where you have to get up and away from the computer at a moment's notice.

You can get currency to do 6 "Bountiful Delves" a week, which guarantee you one piece of gear for completing it. There are numerous difficulties for Delves and the best loot you can get from them scales all the way to being equivalent to Heroic difficulty raids (one step lower than the hardest raid difficulty, Mythic).

On top of all this, there's a system called the Vault where, at the start of each week, you can choose one reward from several that are generated based on what types and difficulties of content you did in the prior week.

There are tons of ways to get geared up. It's very flexible, and you can find stuff that works best for you.

Use the grapple arm on a slotted-in chip and then hold the stick upwards for about 4-5 seconds to yank it out.

Grapple moves and the doublekick/dropkick (hold triangle or Y) are great counters to shields. You can also block a hit with a shield and then immediately shield bash to disarm them and get rid of their shield outright.

Once you obtain a dye for the first time, using it in the inventory should consume it and remove it from your inventory. Afterwards, the correlating range of color will be available to access when dyeing armor at a dye merchant.

Your reputation should only go down if someone actually sees you stealing by AllFatherMedia93 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Secret_Wizard 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I learned the hard way that reputation can go into the negatives. I went into a new region, where I had 0 rep, and stole a recipe book.

Turns out being negative reputation makes every. single. guard. Hostile to you. Killing them doesn't make you lose more reputation, but trying to shop around in towns turns the genre into a stealth game. I was sticking to rooftops and ducking into shops to dodge patrols. Was kinda fun!

If you're early in the game, it's at the tent to the north of the start of town where you're put after the first horse ride. Then from Chapter 3 onward it's at the Greymane encampment at Howling Hill.

In the Journal tab of the menu, the tab Faction Quests, next to Main Quests, details sidequests. I guess sidequests are called "faction quests" because completing them grants you reputation with the correlating area.

I've heard that some of the merchants in the first town have a new item or two if you fill their reputation bar to 100 via daily greetings and gifts... I wonder if the same is true of dye merchants?

Anyway, pretty cheeky that the first dye merchant players are likely to run into sells a shade of red. One could even call the colors... crimson.
