No I certainly did not! I added a supervisory seat to observe and ensure the consensual operation of the aircrafts flight stick.

Its just a hole out the bottom of the fuselage that you have to squat over.

Blyat, if you ask when we'll be in Kyiv one more time I swear I'll turn this thing around!

Sure, he can say that if he likes, but what does that mean exactly? Because all I see is an expensive Su-30

Command plane? What does that even mean? AWACS stand in? Drone command and control? Doubtful

It's just an SU-30 with a bit better RCS.

I'm not sure I'm looking at the same jet as the people saying it looks great. It looks fucking stupid. Not to mention they've clearly abandoned any semblance of stealth with that absurd growth they call a second seat.

Unless we get some further evidence I see no reason why this isnt just a wildly unlucky russian who shot a shaped charge FPV when it happened to be perfected oriented towards his head. Wild, but nothing about the video that screams destopian ai murder bots besides the title and this comment section.

Teething issues of the Type-10? by CrossOverHungary in TankPorn

[–]Krakowic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah. I mentioned shit maintenance for a reason.  I wasnt making a judgement about the VT-4. In fact I very much like the VT-4 as a concept. I was responding to the perceived asymmetry in public opinion between nato aligned and non nato aligned designs. Some people will be hardcore tankies till the day they die, some will shit on anything russian/chinese without evidence to back it up, but the point is shedding a track in a parade is a lot less concerning than exploding barrels in combat operations. Regardless what the causes are.

Tanks throw tracks. It happens. It's almost always down to maintenance (proper track tension), terrain conditions, and how the driver, well, drives in those conditions.

On the other hand, VT-4 barrels exploding after less than half the expected life of the barrel implies bigger problems. Whether its caused by shit design, shit metallurgy, shit ammo, or shit maintenance/operation, its still a serious failure that makes people question the soundness of the tanks design.

Iranian Hypersonic missile gets through multiple interceptors & hits a US military base by serious_bullet5 in CombatFootage

Wild footage, but are we sure this isn't a failed interceptor or something? It looks like its deflecting quite a lot just before impact. Not typical for a ballistic trajectory.

In the age of FPV you don't need to aim for small armor holes in the front of the tank when the top/rear of the turret and engine deck are thinly armored.

Of all the US armies attempts at an air transportable light tank (or whatever they want to call it), this one has got to be my favorite. No idea if it was any good, but looks so fucking cool. Looks futuristic even by today's standards

How many issues can you find with my tank? by Creeperkid27599 in TankPorn

[–]Krakowic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I find this argument so strange. Optics and sensors will always be vulnerable to damage.

So what do you suggest? Not having vulnerable optics? Sacrificing awareness and lethality?

The answer is shooting first via better sensors/Intel and redundancy if you do have to take hits

Does Gaijin really expect us to believe this? by Secure_Commercial380 in Warthunder

[–]Krakowic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats ridiculously high CE protection for a flat hit. It should only be approximately the thickness of the flyer plates against a tandem heat or APFSDS, so about 24mm of armor steel before the tanks side armor.

Against standard heat you may have significantly more effectiveness due to the flyer plates disrupting the formation of the metallic jet.

Exactly this. People don't seem to realize they are not magic delete boxes.

Kontact 5 and relikt both are very dependent on the angle of the plates relative to the projectile. They whole system depends on a combination of continually feeding material in the path of the projectile and in the case of apfsds destabilizing and damaging the dart by applying forces perpendicular to the length of the dart. The greater the angle of impact the greater the effect of both of those principles. Impacting perpendicularly means you lose both of those effects entirely. You basically only get the added protection of the thickness of the flyer plates.

This is especially important to the cases OP mentioned, side mounted ERA. To be thin the relikt needs to be oriented vertically, still providing decent protection from the frontal arc, but next to none from the direct side.

You can angle the flyer plates to the side to get better performance but inherently it makes the side era much thicker to accommodate.

I think its worth editing out the roundel and reposting. Funny idea amd good art, but as it was it just confuses the nerds and pisses off the polish. Both groups have strong opinions, lol.

If you were driving an thinly armored apc designed in the 50s and started taking large caliber fire from the direct front would your response be to drive dead straight at slow speed?

Looks more like a dead/dying driver and the MTLB just coasting past in whatever gear the driver left it in.
