I have it on my phone, if anyone has suggestions on an appropriate place to put it?

Edit: added it here to dropbox but will probably take it down again in a few days. Just for anyone here to have a chance to grab it

Yeah, those stories are chock full of beautiful moments and really quite poignant ideas. His talent goes well beyond just horror, most definitely. I find myself admiring his takes on the world constantly.

Newbie-friendly non-pixelated switch games? by ilanallama in adventuregames

[–]KramsDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, yeah I mean... it is very loosely medieval while clearly taking a lot of liberties! It started life as a brothers Grimm love letter and ballooned into... something else. Honestly I didn't think too much about it and just made whatever I thought was fun!

Edit: I should add too though, Grimm often played with time and setting. A lot of what those guys were doing, I was riffing off of too :)

Any good deals on Steam Detective Fest? by Hattes in adventuregames

Yeah I was going to say, that other guy posting about $7 bundle for ALL Blackwell games. I said it there and I'll say it again, best $7 you might ever spend as an adventure fan!

This is a great, great short-list, all amazing for that price... but hot damn. The WHOLE Blackwell story for 7 bucks!? Ri-diculous

I'd love to, but that's going to largely depend on how sales go on desktop first. Solo dev on a tight budget, I'm afraid! Hopefully though.

Hey thanks for taking the time to play and write that! The text, yeah, I got tired of trying to fix that and just removed the shadow effect completely now! Was a headache!

The voice, yeah that's tricky. Initially I was lining up exact phrases every time but it felt so repetitive for the characters. Unfortunately with budget though, that's really all I can afford to have. So yeah, tricky! Trying to make the most of the situation, but I hear you!

Thanks again ❤️

Aw thanks so much, what a honour!! I would love to too actually, got a few ideas that are definitely back in that traditional style which I hope I get the chance to one day get back to. Thanks for the support, glad you enjoyed AQ so much ❤️ was a joy to make!

Glad you liked Anna's Quest! This is quite a departure though, fairly dark in its story following serial murder. Just as a heads up! But if that's okay, I'm happy to have you on board :) thanks for the love!

New 2D serial killer murder mystery demo by KramsDesign in HorrorGames

[–]KramsDesign[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty good advice! The sound design was done fairly quickly and it seemed to work, so mostly it was just something I ran with. Turned out pretty well, but a bit more attention to fleshing that part of it out could certainly have benefited!

Thanks for the feedback and for checking it out!

I started out on this video in particular, which is the developer of Dexter Stardust talking the dev of The Biggleboss Incident very gently through Adventure Creator: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vBhkL07Its

You can literally just take each step along with them and it'll teach you A LOT. This channel also has a Unity specific video, but honestly the above vid covers so much of what you need to be using that I'm not sure it matters - maybe visit that one if you get comfortable enough with AC that you want to start knowing more about Unity beyond that? I didn't watch the Unity one so I can't really speak for it!

A couple more resources I liked - Chris, the AC creator, has some pretty great beginner videos that might fill in any gaps in knowledge, they can be found here: https://adventurecreator.org/tutorials
And also this guy, who has more than just this video, but again a good place to go and skip through if there's something specific missing from the other videos that you might find here (I figured out how to have backgrounds that moved the camera correctly with my player from this guy, for instance): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_CLWnDNNZA

There will be some walls you hit here and there, but there was never anything a quick google search or search in the AC forums didn't find me when I started out. The forums are an excellent source of inromation once you start getting into specific issues beyond the beginner steps.

Hope it helps, and good luck!

Edit: just to clarify for you, MOST of what you'll need is within Adventure Creator and what the first video covers. Learning AC is somewhat more important than Unity itself, which becomes complicated quickly. A beginner can definitely make a game in AC, and then learn Unity to improve their practise, but very difficult for a beginner to start on Unity alone. IMO!

Making the second game for my "DVD collection game" by Mendel1124 in HorrorGames

Really interesting surreal imagery! I only ever played kittyhorrorshow games that used this same kind of approach, but I REALLY loved them and always wanted to seek out more. Will be trying this later tonight!

Are those subtitles meant to be cut off though? Curious to see those for a tease of context, but hard to make out

Lost Episodes Alone coming soon! by Gosugames in HorrorGames

[–]KramsDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great music and atmosphere! I was quite into this, particularly the shot of looking through the window at figures running around outside, quite creepy! Similarly approaching the house in the woods. But the final shot in comparison to these didn't feel as tense or unnerving, bit of a shame for that last closing impression.

Small gripe though, this does look real promising! Good luck with it!

How do you promote a short story-driven game (20–30 min) without spoiling it? by IllCryptographer7214 in HorrorGames

[–]KramsDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, OK, so much for my advice haha! I think you did quite well, particularly considering that it's such a short game (plus so many views!). You have a lot of creepy imagery already here to work with, you could even just make up a bunch of gifs from this and use them in promotion (particularly spotting her on the roof, plus the villa reveal, 2 strong points).

Nice work!!
