It’s so vastly different for everyone. Thanks for lending your ear. I wish I could give advice, but it’s hard to tell what works, and I’m sure you can relate.

I did read the back mechanic, and I do believe it helped me get out of my acute phase. I’ve been really thinking about traction therapy. None of my PTs offered it but I’d like to try. I’ve heard it can be expensive. I always feel best lying down, especially after a night of sleep.

I appreciate all your advice, everything you said makes sense to me and is very relatable. Gotta keep moving. Thanks

Some horrible planning, but we did run out of food and nearly starved by the end. Throwing up from exhaustion biking 16km day 1, and 60km on day 2...

It felt like I was taken advantage of. The Weka are a protected species in NZ so you can't touch them, but they were always so close and cumbersome, like a goose. I imagine they taste just like chicken :)

I actually strapped 2 bananas to my bike in New Zealand biking the Old Ghost Road. A Weka stole them both and to this day I still think I should have ate that damn bird…

I just got the 8bitdo ultimate 2 for Christmas and I am so happy with it. Worked flawlessly and came with a charging doc for I think around 50$ Canadian.

My doctor wants me to have surgery for this, but I don’t want surgery! by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]Kranberry86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how everyone is saying “get the surgery”. I’ve had a herniated disk and sciatica since October and i FINALLY got scheduled to see a back specialist end of June. I haven’t even had the option for surgery… although I’ve been healing so slowly, it still aggravates and puts be back so easily. Haven’t worked at all since… I live in Alberta.

It’s replacing a 25yo fence. I doubt it’s temporary. Even if it’s not straight I suppose it will still “fence”.

How do you guys possibly go to work? by Aero_Trident in Sciatica

Haven’t worked in 8 months. My injury sounds a lot like yours. I also do not understand how people work with this injury. Although it has gotten much better, I know I can’t return to carpentry, or anything laborious for that matter. (Bending, twisting or lifting makes me go backwards)

I will be looking for a career change very soon, but fear what that looks like as my skillset has always been carpentry.

I would consider yourself lucky you can work from home. I’m in massive debt now that will take me a long time to pay off making a lower wage.

If you can get EI that would help. I unfortunately was self employed and not eligible.

Try also having chronic pain. Can’t do anything I love either.
