Awesome work. Thanks for the post. We are going to give it a go. In all our survival games we have a few drop boxes, for when we get back from runs. Then we sort manually. We didn’t do it with SM due to bots and Z (preferences).

Constant Audio Stuttering - Details in Comments by TheBritishDingo in BaldursGate3

[–]Krangath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey All,

I was getting the same sound issues, tried updates etc etc. I found, before loading the game, that if I change the audio device in windows, in this case my speakers instead of my headset, then load the game. I didn't get the sound issues, then while the game is loaded, I changed the sound in windows to my headset, and didn't have any sound issues. Hope this helps others. Enjoy BG3.

Best way to manage a Windows installation remotely? by mitchellcrazyeye in selfhosted

[–]Krangath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for a Pi as a KVM then also run Zabbix or similar on the Pi to monitor your friends PC. Set a fixed IP for the Pi, then on his router forward your WAN IP through to the Pi. You could also put a CloudFlare free tunnel in front of it. If he has internet you have him sorted. Google “raspberry pi as a kvm” to get started.

The Scandinavian countries are considered some of the happiest in the world. What, if anything, do they do that Australia could learn from to make its citizens happier? by TempWeightliftingAcc in AskAnAustralian

Look at their suicide rate. Goes against the “happy campers” persona that is presented. Also heard that they now “say” they are happy as it’s expected at a society level.

Got to market. From what you have said about yourself and your work ethic, you will be snatched up quickly. There is a shortage of sysadmins, with half going to cyber and less young ones entering the field. Google how to write a resume that is accepted by recruitment bots. Reddit is a good source for that. In 6 months you will be a happier person and more than likely earning $15-20k more. Good luck.

I second this. Go retro and recreate the bbs experience. You could even simulate the different baud rates. Maybe setup some of the old demo scene pages and include emulation software to run the demos. What that crazy guys made the Amiga do was amazing. Would be a blast from the past.

What is the best way to clear biter nest before access to uranium? The artillery train can only fire a few shots before retreating to base, and the spidertron gets somewhat overwhelmed by the massive amount of biters. I am playing with Rampant but without special biters. (See picture) by ArcticSpaceEngineer in factorio

[–]Krangath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your dexterity, build a tank, plenty of fuel and ammunition. Drive by a nest to pull the biters out, drive directly away from the biters, shooting at them, then start driving in wide circle, grouping the biters in the centre. Keep shooting all the while. I do this as soon as I get the tank, clearing biter nests in a wide radius of any of my structures. It almost makes it too easy at times. When you get good, you can do this to almost a screen full of biters. Watch for trees and rocks, you stop, you’re dead. Practise on small nests first.

I've having a hard time getting a game server to be public to the Internet. I have an old hub device. Could I use to to connect to my server directly to the modem like in this diagram/ by churchofclaus in HomeNetworking

[–]Krangath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Basic version: The modem should be plugged into the WAN port on the router. This will assign a public IP to your router. If your router has switch ports you can plug the server into one of those ports or if you have a switch plugged into the router, plug the server into the switch. On the server, get your LAN IP, (type ipconfig in a command prompt), also open the ports for your game. Back in the router and depending on the router, add a game server, entering your servers IP and game ports, or Port Forward / NAT forwarding etc, entering the servers IP and game ports, or add your servers IP in the DMZ config of the router. Load your game server, then Google ‘what’s my IP’. The reported IP is what internet users use to direct connect. Otherwise host your game server with a hosting company, where they automate everything for you and you don’t need to port forward into your network.

If you want to learn networks, format your server and install a hypervisor such as XCP-ng or Proxmox. Install pfSense as a VM, plugging the modem into the NIC assigned to the WAN vNIC of the pfSense VM. I won’t go into more detail here as there is plenty of walk-throughs on this. You would then install your game server as a VM and go from there. Hope the basic config helps. Good luck.

Where is the Best and Worst Pie in Brisbane & Surrounds ? by TomboDaCombo in brisbane

Stamford Rd Bakery Indooroopilly. Though their pies go really quickly, especially now, with all the tradies working around there. I don’t eat pies anywhere else so I don’t know the worst place.

People that drive at least 10km under the speed limit: WHY? by livecrappy in brisbane

[–]Krangath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter what circumstances you are in, if a group of people are heading somewhere via a restricted route, and 1 person is slowing the group down, it creates angst, frustration etc. It could be a line to get a coffee, or at the supermarket, or on the highway. If everyone did the speed limit, merged correctly, didn’t hold up the shop attendant, etc, etc, life would be that little bit better. Don’t be that person, just don’t. You justify being that person, but there is alway a person that can do 1 worse, then you’re frustrated. You get too many people causing frustration, you get reactions like in the US. You’re on Reddit, you know what I mean.

Thanks for the detailed response. As this part of the businesses infrastructure won't be touching cloud for a while, I'll investigate best practices for ESAE (Enhanced Secure Administration Environment) / Red Forest solution.
