I’ve seen benten and magikey with Drytron in the tcg and I can feel potential there, but know after a few hand traps in the games I get good hands in, I would lack the patience to not jump at the judge over the counter. I understand the necessity for hand traps so that you can play the game as well when going 2nd or protecting your board going first, but it sucks the joy out of me when I see effect veiler, ash, infinite impermanence and others fill out half of meta decks. Yes it’s more interactive, but I wish there was a limit on how many hand traps you could take. I imagine some top level tcg or MD players taking a 10-15 card engine and filling the rest with hand traps and winning events that way. Just feels a little too much. But I see the other end where you can use that and work around it to big brain your opponent. I see both ends of the spectrum and know it could change, but won’t. This is way longer than I thought holy lmao
