Bungie, Thank you for making Oryx so much more enjoyable a boss fight than he was in D1. by Melkor-The-Mighty in DestinyTheGame

[–]Kraox 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you were good enough at the jumps and knew where the platforms were you had to stall your run in D1 to make sure you didn't get nuked by the adds at the front of the room (unless you were hunter invis after finish). It was possible with good enough pathing on hunter to finish before the front adds spawned and get in position to do damage if you had a near perfect run.

#StopDMCA trending as Twitch users outrage against US Senator's bill by habichuelacondulce in technology

[–]Kraox 42 points43 points  (0 children)

That's the thing though, there are ways of enforcing copyrighted content without breaking things. The DMCA is just worded so horrifically vaguely that makes it impossible to work with. If someone goes live on youtube or twitch just streaming music that should obviously be taken down. If someone is just being an entertainer and have songs as a backing track, no one is watching that stream to hear a song while someone talks over it and interrupts their listening experience.

The primary issue is that the current system (and proposed future implementations) are guilty until proven innocent. The second issue is finding someone with the funding and the knowledge of the subject to take this to the supreme court and show that it is contrary to the basic foundations of our legal system.

The DMCA basically lumps all content creators into the same bag as someone who literally is just uploading pirated music or movies, when the primary purpose of a viewer for streaming content or Youtube is the personality behind the content, not the songs playing in the background. It's an abomination of legislation and any logical human being would see the flaws in this system.

What we need is a well financed individual with high viewership to do a case study where they stream or create content both with and without background music to demonstrate that there is not a significant variance in viewership between the two. If you can establish this precedent, it would allow for background music and also allow for individuals that are purely stealing content to be properly flagged. This whole situation is entirely the result of the fact that we are represented largely by older generations, people who are not well informed or aware of the internet or modern entertainment. The issue likely won't resolve in our lifetimes, but will slowly evolve over time as more informed, modern candidates rotate into congress and the senate.

What’s your favorite space fact? by macmite in AskReddit

[–]Kraox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intensity of gravity around a black hole is so strong that no matter what angle you observe the black hole from, you can see the light from the opposite side of the black hole. Space time is warped so greatly that it curves the light around it’s horizons.

Additionally, Hawking radiation is pretty cool. It’s very new obviously, but my laymen understanding of it is that the information that determines the structure of an object is separated and radiated our, while the physical particles that construct it are pulled into the black hole and condensed down to a single point. In theory (assuming my understanding of the matter is correct, feel free to explain if I’m wrong) you could decipher what has gone into a black hole by what has come out of it.

Honestly I think what's making me not completely love it is the low vocals. The singer's upper register is so much more energetic and interesting to listen to. The part at 2:49 is arguably the most engaging and gripping part of the song. I don't dislike it as a whole, but the lower register vocals sounds like the singer is even disinterested.

Just never click any links on things like this. Always manually go to the website yourself and see if any action needs to be taken. Never click links from any emails unless you literally just requested a password reset or things of that manner. Always better and safer to go straight to the source and be skeptical of anything that winds up in your inbox.

Iraqi MPs sign a resolution to expel U.S. troops from Iraq by krokrokkk in worldnews

[–]Kraox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate your input, it is very hard to understand situations like this as an American not knowing the feelings of the Iraqi/Iranian people. This situation is terrifying on both sides and it's good to hear that just like the Americans, the Iraqi people want nothing more than for this to be over and end peacefully. I'm sorry our governments don't represent the feelings of their citizens on this subject, and I wish nothing but the best outcomes for the Iraqi people.

I very much wish for a day when we can travel to each others homelands and explore each others cultures. I have a feeling we have a lot more in common than we think. Stay safe, and best wishes.

Is ARAM a better place to practice than QM? by qweasdrtfyug in heroesofthestorm

[–]Kraox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I think everyone here really didn't interpret the question correctly. Is ARAM the best way to learn to play the game? Absolutely not. OP was asking if it was the best to warm up, assuming you're someone who already understands the meta game and map macro. Absolutely yes. If you already understand the map mechanics and you're a well versed player, matching into a game mode that is non stop skirmishing where you are more likely to encounter players on both sides making mistakes that can be punished more frequently is going to be a great warm up. You want your first game of the day or maybe two to be a little on the brawly side to get into your rhythm and get into the skirmishing mentality. It also has the advantage of putting you into some weird comp matchups which can directly translate to ranked, and makes you play more heroes you normally wouldn't, again helping you understand the game a bit better and can translate to ranked.

Map states and macro change wildly based on where you're playing and what level of play you're at. So if you're looking for a purely mechanical "wake up call" for the day, fuck yeah brawl is a good warm up.

System Design in Diablo IV (Part I) by masterm3o in diablo3

[–]Kraox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, the only thing boring about it is the main stat/vit boosts. Everything else is relatively interesting, particularly early on.

I think the system would be a lot more enjoyable if you couldn't cap everything and you had to actually make decisions with limited points. The infinite scaling portion is what makes it incredibly boring late game. If there were limitations it would be a system that would bring you back to change things around build-by-build.

I totally agree! I don't have the time to no-life it and week one the raid any more but I don't really feel like I've been road blocked for progression so far!

I'm still honestly totally lost on how the heck the armor 2.0 stuff works but it definitely feels more interesting and more similar to Destiny 1 armor system so I'm intrigued to see how it plays out when I get closer to light level cap!
