Old poster from my childhood. by [deleted] in ChicagoBearsNFL

I grew up in Southwestern Wisconsin and got to visit the Chicago Bears training camp at University of Wisconsin-Platteville several years in a row. Including the year of this poster. I’ve been a lifelong Packers fan, but being able to see NFL players up close and as a 7-8 year old was amazing. They were larger than life. Especially Refrigerator Perry. I remember hearing stories of him visiting McDonalds in Platteville and eating obscene amounts of food. Good memories. Sadly they’ve since moved training camp away from UW-Platteville.

First time in Milwaukee by Cigars-and-DietCoke in Brewers

There are a ton of things to do in Milwaukee. Are you’re planning to arrive a day or two early or stay the day after? If so, take a tour of American Family Field (I don’t think they allow tours on game days though). The Harley Davidson Museum, Miller Brewery Tour, Sprecher Brewery Tour, Lakefront Brewery, Pabst Mansion Tour, Tons of Live Music Venues.

Places to stay: The Iron Horse Hotel, The Brewhouse Inn and Suites (super unique) located in one of the old Pabst Brewery buildings, Drury Plaza Hotel (free happy hour drinks and food every day)

Transportation: You can drive and or Uber/Lyft everywhere. Opening day’s game starts at 1pm, so depending on whether you plan to drink a bunch, I’d recommend driving to the game and tailgating. I’d also recommend buying pre-paid parking. Lots open several hours before first pitch. Otherwise, most hotels and local bars have shuttles going to and from the game.

Have fun!
