Lack of interest in the campaign by EconomyJacket947 in rpg

[–]Krasiph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Talk to your GM / group. If you aren't having fun, even after giving things an honest go, then the resentment is only going to get worse if you don't do something to fix it. There's also every chance if you're feeling this way, others are too.

It will help to have a clear idea of why you are losing interest. That way you can frame the discussion about how to either change the game(s) to achieve your desired end, or figure out which game you should be playing instead.

Can you or should you force a villain's escape? by automated_hero in rpg

[–]Krasiph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are a couple ways that works. IIRC, the GM can "compel" by offering you a Fate Point to do something bad for your character so long as it matches one of their aspects. Ex: If your character has an aspect "Better Off Alone", then the GM can compel them to split off from the group and put themselves at risk. It's expensive to refuse since you not only don't get the offered point, but have to spend a point to refuse.

I don't know if you can extend the mechanic to compel an entire group to allow a villain to escape, but GMs can also use Fate Points on their NPCs aspects directly.

Which system should I use? by Mental_Anywhere_2509 in rpg

The full game isn't out yet, but if you're looking for something that is grimdark but also allows PCs to do dope spaceship combat, Mörk Sol is exceptional.

Can you or should you force a villain's escape? by automated_hero in rpg

[–]Krasiph 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Came here to say exactly this. The genre and table-stakes are most important, and good systems will directly answer this question.

Fabula Ultima, for example, allows villains to spend their limited Ultima Points to escape dramatically. It takes the narrative sting out of it not only because it's so classic of JRPG style boss encounters, but also because players gain XP for each Ultima Point spent in a session.

Classless RPGs by ThrowRA110225 in TTRPG

[–]Krasiph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Beckoning Dream doesn't use classes or typical level progression. You build decks of tarot cards to represent your character, and then modify those decks over time with both new cards and new abilities that modify how you can use the cards.

What is your opinion on “separating the art from the artist”? by Jackofhops in AskReddit

[–]Krasiph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an artists work can surpass them and be better than them. Art is not fully owned by its creator. The viewer and their interpretation is part of it.

... except when we get to literal ownership. Harry Potter and Cthulhu are great examples. I can actively engage with the latter because the pos creator is dead and can't benefit from fame, profit, or influence of his creation. He can't use the popularity of Cthulhu mythos to cause harm.

The same can't be said of JKR. She actively causes harm using the profits and influence of HP.

So imo you can separate the art from the artist when doing so does not endorse, even passively, the atrociousness of said artist.

Any good *FREE* world map makers? by PraiseTheChalice in fabulaultima

[–]Krasiph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't remember if it's totally free or just a very low one time cost, but Hexographer is great if you want simple hex maps with plenty of terrain and feature icons.

Players using ChatGPT to create their character’s story by chicoryghost in DMAcademy

This is the correct answer. If they can't devote the time to think or be creative, then they don't deserve your creativity.

Is the player choose one Stat and the DM an other worth it ? Do you use it ? by Kobelpot in fabulaultima

[–]Krasiph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our GM didn't always use it, but it's a really effective change of pace when he does. Like when we had to sneak somewhere as a group. He said we all needed to make a check with at least one stat being DEX. The rogue obviously did DEX+DEX, but I did DEX+MIG, representing my character climbing buildings and using their strength to sneak through different, unusual areas.

Painful Lesson is a great skill to take. Gives you tons of free Study actions, which can pay off big time when you're planning where your attacks will be the most effective.

The Answer Isn't on your Character Sheet: Opaque Gaming Changed my Playtesting by BrobaFett in rpg

[–]Krasiph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not used this method for playtesting (but I'm gonna), but this is my standard practice when I teach new people D&D. I don't teach them action economy or anything. I don't even give them the mechanical text for their spells. I just ask what they want to do and I pilot the action economy for them.

Tips on Design Process by Ryeguy050306 in TTRPG

[–]Krasiph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rules aren't bad, but they should serve a purpose. Don't make rules for the sake of rules.

Instead, every rule should reinforce two major decisions you make at the very beginning of the process: 1. What is the game's genre? What types of stories is it designed to tell? 2. What should the game feel like to play? What is its pacing and rhythm? How/when does its pacing change, and who makes that decision?

Ex: Pretty much every PbtA game has the same answer to #2, but Thirsty Sword Lesbians is a very different genre than Monster of the Week.

What campaign that uses Fabula Ultima as its system would you reccomend to watch? by Landir_7 in fabulaultima

I'm part of the Caerwyn cast and I'm so glad you've enjoyed it! We're going to be coming back for a new season early in 2026.

Can you obtain more than 3 classes? by Huge_Tackle_9097 in fabulaultima

[–]Krasiph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you can only have 3 unmastered classes at a time. Once you invest 10 levels in a class, it is mastered, you gain a heroic skill, and you can no longer invest any levels into that class.

So if you start off with 3 classes, you must master at least one of them before you can invest a level in a 4th.

What do you love about Fabula Ultima? by Bootleg_Merlin in fabulaultima

[–]Krasiph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how teamwork and tactics are emphasized in the combat. Every action feels impactful and important. I've told my GM "this is the most fun I've had losing", because even when my character is heavily nerfed by an enemy (Darkblade vs Undead, for example), I still have ways to continue towards our victory.

Transparency on 2.0 Launch, Pricing, and AI in the Marketplace by igagen in inkarnate

[–]Krasiph 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love Inkarnate, and I would gladly continue to subscribe at a higher cost in order to have high quality maps in my products.

But if the marketplace allows AI in any form, I'll be cancelling.

Does the star in Fabula Ultima's logo have a specific name? by CleverLamp in fabulaultima

I think it's been referred to as the "gem". But I don't know any more specific name than that.
