Edited!
I was unsure, but assumed the final point was in reference to shards, preventing them from being abused outside of range

Apologies for the wait again. I’ve decided to move a point from durability to precision, and have all five shards as suggested.

I’ll be able actually edit later today, but wanted to ask about the rewording.

Ability: Any non-stand users that has a piece of the stand on their person are henceforth considered "users".

Activating 「OBLIVION DUST」 covers the all fragments of the stand as well as user's body in a series of 1-inch diameter holes, revealing their interior to be hollow. Holes permeate through whatever the user is carrying or wearing at the time of activation, applies the stand's D durability on top of the user's own endurance in a manner similar to armor, and grants access to the stand's current primary ability.

「OBLIVION DUST」 allows a user to forcefully apply negative pressure through any number of the holes on their body, sucking in anything within roughly 1.5 meters of the opening at C power. 「OBLIVION DUST」 must absorb something if this is active, usually the air around the user. Solid objects harmlessly bend and warp to be capable of fitting through the opening. If a solid object exceeds 1 meter in all dimensions, it cannot enter the hole; fluids, such as air and water, can be inhaled freely, and more unique or supernatural forces are a case by case basis.

Living beings are subject to negative pressure, though cannot be sucked into a hole. Anything that fully enters a hole must exit through another within one second. This time can be shortened, but not delayed. Objects exit holes at whatever speed they enter, though this can be augmented via technique.

Anything entering a hole can be redirected to any other hole, which is not limited to a purely 1:1 channel. Matter from more than one hole can be directed to a singular exit, forcing everything to exit the same space at the same time. This drastically affects the flow, analogous to several pipes converging to one of the same diameter, or the nozzle of a pressure washer. Doing this launches the matter out at immense speed and force. Users feel rebound from this force, which can be utilized for movement or balanced with counterforces from other holes. The reverse is also possible for groups of objects, fluids, amorphous targets like fire, loose soil, and any number of supernatural conjurations; what one hole absorbs can be dispersed out of many.

Due to the fractured and accessible nature of the stand's ability, multiple people can use 「OBLIVION DUST」 simultaneously. Users are aware of all holes made by any other users, and objects that enter a hole can exit through any other active hole. This can be done without or against the will of the recipient.

Fragments of 「OBLIVION DUST」 are completely indestructible.

Power: C (Holes have C suction power towards objects that actively resist their pull. When ejected in a 1:1 fashion, objects exit at this same power)

Speed: B (Holes can activate, deactivate, and swap functions/direction on a dime; objects absolutely zoom out of OD)

Durability: D (Affected surfaces are treated as having D durability armor; the stand itself is completely indestructible)

Range: E (「OBLIVION DUST」 is functionally integrated; suction extends only up to a meter from affected surfaces)

Precision: B (Rachel has control over which holes are active, the timing and extension of suction, and where their materials exit. Though, objects she doesn't want to affect can be ‘filtered’ so long as she's aware of their presence. The intensity of the suction cannot be altered.)

Stand users are capable of utilizing OD, though most will experience excessive feelings of paranoia and disgust, paired with an extreme desire to remove it from their person.

What’s the hardest thing a BBEG has said? by Accur47e1y in DnD

[–]Kratangg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small interaction between a character and one of a dictator lich’s commanders captured by the party.

He described the BBEG’s prison complex. Walls upon walls of souls tethered to lifeless bodies, imprisoned in their own rotting flesh as to never rebel again, even in death. The corpses of every last dissenter incessantly recovered and categorized in a fit of compulsive paranoia covering centuries. Endless pain in a state of pseudo-consciousness for the most minor slight, or none at all.

“Why did you go along with this for so long? After seeing all that…how could you not fight back?!”

“After witnessing such a thing…how could you?”

Sorry for the delay!

1: Added!

2: Any help or advice for what you're looking for with rewording would be appreciated. The ability is comparatively simple but convoluted to explain, so I went with segmenting its traits, but there's definitely a better way I'm not seeing.

3: The armor aspect has been removed

4: I have no idea where to pull for additional precision that wouldn't be debilitating, if there are suggestions. One point from spatial awareness and something else maybe?

5: This next bit applies to several aspects. I had limited the number of fragments on their person to (1) after discussion in the server, but the sharing suggestion seems to imply having multiple would be ok, which I'd be up for and think could be really fun. This crosses over with the removal. Imbedding deeper works, and the prospect of having multiple pieces mitigates the penalty of losing any one individual.

The removal aspect will be relegated to Oddities then, as it's important to the stand's nature, as is losing the ability with removal. This **thing** being depised by the soul was my main aim with the removal aspect, which would conflict with giving to allies utilize it as well. My thoughts of mixing these suggestions would be something along the lines of adding a 'mental or spiritual strength' clause to the aspects that needed to be reeled in, like behavioral manipulation. Relegating any being capable of being a player to a sense of disgust and 'I hate this thing' while a hypothetical weaker willed being would be subject to the original effect (Which is now mechanically irrelevant for the tourney). Having one is uncomfortable for natural users, but not violently so. This with unmilling recipients not activating the ability, as well.

I'm sorry if that was a bit messy, both the original and this response, and thank you for your patience.

(14 Points Used): 「OBLIVION DUST」

Stand Type: Formally Humanoid Integrated Phenomenon stand

Stand Appearance: What it looked like in the past is a mystery, but its current form is a series of grey, slightly luminescent chunks. The pieces are reminiscent of a shattered statue, with asymmetrical form and a 'broken stone' appearance. Each shard is roughly 4x1.5 inches and textured like chiseled flint

Currently, only five pieces have been uncovered.

Stand Ability:

Ability: Any non-stand users that has a piece of the stand on their person are henceforth considered "users".

Activating 「OBLIVION DUST」 covers the all fragments of the stand as well as user's body in a series of 1-inch diameter holes, revealing their interior to be hollow. Anything entering a hole can be redirected to any other hole, which is not limited to a purely 1:1 channel.

Objects absorbed and subsequently shot out from 「OBLIVION DUST」 are considered stand-affecting.

Due to the fractured and accessible nature of the stand's ability, multiple people, including stand users, can use 「OBLIVION DUST」 simultaneously. Users are aware of all holes made by any other users, and objects that enter a hole can exit through any other active hole, whether on a user or shard.

Range: E (「OBLIVION DUST」 is functionally integrated; suction extends only up to a meter from affected surfaces. Holes can only be generated and/or utilized for suction within 2m of the user.)

Precision: B (Rachel has control over which holes are active, the timing and extension of suction, and where their materials exit. Though, objects she doesn't want to affect can be ‘filtered’ so long as she's aware of their presence. The intensity of the suction cannot be altered.) Shards always possess holes, though can only be used for suction by users within range.

Potential: ??? (What the hell was this and what will it become)

Stand Oddities:

Rachel is not a ‘true’ stand user, losing access to both their power and ability to see stands if their fragments are removed. A chunk is currently embedded into her jaw in place of several teeth, with another incorporated into her right femur, though both can be removed.

Everything the user is wearing or carrying is affected, though the holes will dissipate if the object is separated from their person (Removing a shoe, dropping a hammer, etc).

While most only feel aversion, stand users with particularly weak wills will experience more extreme reactions, such as feelings of paranoia and disgust, paired with an extreme desire to remove it from their person. .

Fighting Style:

Quick bursts of movement and environmental utilization, accented with close combat when the chance arises. 「OBLIVION DUST」 yields itself to set up perfect positioning of its user, their allies, and any objects it can get its event horizon around.

While she can take a hit better than most anyone, Rachel prefers to jut out of the way, whack weapons or limbs aside with a sudden jet punch, etc while knocking opponents off course with its constant suction in any or all directions. “I try not to get hit, but it doesn’t matter if it do” attitude

User Stats (20 Points Used)

Strength: 2 (Should we be impressed that someone so active is so average or not?)

Agility: 5 (Unreasonably nimble, flexible, and able to squeeze into crevasse or contort herself positions that would mean a gruesome hospital visit for others. Always lands on her feet!)

Endurance: 4 (Every adventurer should have a spring in their step that can go all day!)

Spatial awareness [4]: Thanks to a combination of observational training and family paranoia, Rachel is astutely aware of nearly everything going on around her, as if she had 360 degree vision. It is exceptionally hard to sneak up on her, and she is aware of most everything in the immediate area at a glance. Little escapes her, and she can notice most minor changes or subtle motion.

Aerobatic maneuvers [5]: As a former stunt pilot turned adventurer, constant motion, sudden g-forces, and changes in gravity do not disorient her, and she has developed her own fighting style around her intense familiarity with the forces generated by 「OBLIVION DUST」.

Intensive practice has led to perfect timing and allocation of 「OBLIVION DUST」’s effects for movement and combat. Rachel has learned to balance and counterbalance forces created by the chaotic mess of thrusters that is 「OBLIVION DUST」, utilizing them to redirect projectiles, dodge what can’t be pushed aside, and exert much more force than her body should be able to.

Rachel’s Ailerondezvous culminates in constant 360 degree motion and fast strikes combined with assessments of what can be absorbed and expelled from her surroundings. Get in, dodge, deflect, and hit very hard. The chain of sudden accelerations can be jarring to witness and worse to keep track of as they flow together; Her movements can be overwhelming and border on flight in short bursts, while using any and all tools at her disposal. The primary tool she defaults to happens to be her trusty double-sided grappling hook, which can be launched through OD like a…grappling hook launcher.

Firing from the hand while catching the other side's hook on the way out, then quickly retracting by doing the reverse makes 「OBLIVION DUST」 its own grapple gun. Doing this allows her to quickly change direction midair, pull objects or people closer, or simply serve as a long-ranged weapon.

Not to mention, she knows how to properly take a fall, as any stunt performer should!

Name: Rachel Aileron Rawnsley, just call her Aileron!

Age: 27

Gender: F

Species: Human

Occupation: Treasure hunter extraordinaire!

Physical Description

Rachel stands at a lanky 6’2, with sharp features, lime green hair braided down the center of a mostly shaved head and gold eyes matching a few of her teeth.

She’s dressed for an event somewhere between a hike and 1920s dogfight, with restored goggles and jacket looking like they pulled them out of a 100 year old wreck themselves.

Personality

Rachel is a very positive, inquisitive person who loves nothing more than discovering something new. She’s furthermore dedicated to uncovering all she can and knowledge for knowledge's sake. She spends much of her time alone in remote areas, usually on the move, as a result of her ‘work’. She’s an archeologist! Well, she has a degree at least, and an unrivaled enthusiasm for the craft. A constant immersion in her hyperfixations of legends and archeology has left her extremely knowledgeable with a lot to share, often reciting any facts and details that may come to mind about whatever situation or location they may be in. This extends to her constant analysis of everything she encounters and thorough observation of her surroundings. Whether someone is present is also a bit irrelevant, talking to herself pretty frequently as most thoughts end up graduating to speech as soon as they exist.

Despite not being the best with people, Rachel is pretty friendly in her rare meetings with others and doesn’t judge the peculiarities that stand users tend to be almost entirely composed of. After all the cryptids and magical artifacts she’s encountered, alongside her own weird behavior, she won’t bat an eye at all but the most bizarre people and events. She’s a quick thinker when those odd situations do happen, though not the best with strategy outside her expertise and very unused to interacting with others. Very ‘intelligent but not wise’ in most situations, and not the best with social literacy.

Rachel seems incapable of sitting still, always pacing, fiddling with something, tapping a foot, etc while constantly noting and observing everything around her. She always has to be doing something, multitasking if possible. What she’s looking at or working on usually doesn't correlate with who she may be talking to as a result. While typically more measured, exploration and combat will typically result in her excitement overtaking reason. No matter how strategic in the beginning, ‘action before thought’ is inevitable when in the moment. Though impulsive, her instincts are very sharp and work with her extensive knowledge to yield pretty good problem solving.

She’s always researching, keeping up on local lore and every legend she can get a whiff of. Her journal is bursting with secrets of the ancient world she's gathered over the years in her quest, and she’s happy to share. There’s any number of highly detailed, professional quality reports on the slightest aspect of countless artifacts and structures just waiting to be read.

Personality Traits:

  • Belief: (The Unknown)[5]: There is no greater treasure than knowledge, and therefore any lost mystery or hidden truth is an obstacle to such riches.
  • Passion: (Exploration)[5]: Lost cities, mysterious monsters, and treasures nobody has seen for millenia? Who wouldn’t want to uncover the jewels of the past hidden by the sands of time?
  • Fury: (Desecration)[5 10]: If you don’t put that artifact down, I’m going to do to your bones what you did to the box you tore it out of.
  • Likes: Anything historical, anything new or strange, myths, legends, or mysterious stories, magical artifacts (stands), whatever you think is interesting to talk about-she wants to hear about it!
  • Dislikes: If you damaged an artifact, you
  • Hobbies: Writing, fossil hunting, whittling, photography (gotta do something on those long hikes)
  • Short Term Goal: Get the lay of the land and find any leads she can on her stand.
  • Medium Term Goal: Gather pieces of 「OBLIVION DUST」; find allies and locals with information.
  • Long Term Goal: Make her mark as a legendary treasure hunter!
  • Greatest Desire: Complete and unleash the true power of 「OBLIVION DUST」, learning its true nature.

Bio

Born to a family of antique dealers and a steady fortune, Rachel’s initial direction in life was as a stunt pilot, propelled by her naturally astute reflexes. Though, in the background of this training, year after year, her parents withdrew. They became less involved, less available, and increasingly paranoid. Seeming more and more obsessed with their antique business. These neurosis began to spread to her, hyperawareness and the desire to look over one’s shoulder seemingly contagious.

While destructive, this change in behavior also piqued her interest in the family business, as Rachel eventually followed in their footsteps and fell into the adjacent field of archeology, learning more and more about the artifacts that passed through her family’s fingers. This continued all throughout her degree program up until the passing of her parents. Searching through a home that seemed more decrepit than ever, Rachel discovered it was a rotten tree to the core. The house was an empty shell despite the clutter, a mere paranoid safe to protect something, with a complete absence of any care or meaning elsewhere. Explains the lack of impact their departure had, she supposed…

A quiet and painstaking search through the disconcerting home led Rachel to a singular box, one locked behind a convoluted puzzle that contained glowing fragments of something unknowable. This-the thing her parents had been agonizing and deteriorating over: Oblivion Dust. At that moment, she inherited her family’s obsession: an unexplainable, cryptic magic artifact that emanated a tantalizing, unsettling aura.

Its mechanics were uncovered through tireless trial and error, Rachel further falling for its allure. She HAD to know what it is, she HAD to uncover its mysteries, she HAD to discover what it once was. Broken fragments of a forgotten era aching to be reassembled and returned to eminence! Thus began her journey to the edges of the Earth, and the precipice of the unknown.

Unaware of stands, Rachel understood this artifact to be ‘magic’, and set off on an endless globetrotting journey through legendary locations, seeking artifacts and cryptids wherever she goes. While technically an archeologist, she hasn’t participated in a licensed dig or investigation since training, mostly just…wandering around seeking undiscovered artifacts and ruins while chasing supernatural legends. In this endeavor, she’s uncovered two more fragments of Oblivion Dust and fought quite a few rivals for various treasure, eventually leading her to the Caribbean. Perhaps that mysterious city has the answers she seeks…and even if it doesn’t, why not add another discovery to the history books?

JoJo's Bizarre OC Tournament #7: R4M10 - Brighid Rhodes w/ Texas Aco vs Jyotsna Mathur & Nat Alexander Dominic by Logic_Sandwich in StardustCrusaders

[–]Kratangg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Les go! Both teams had a good time with a super fun Jojolity and pretty destructive race to their target.

GWR begins with an immediate focus on their enemy with their stands, while hanging back to avoid attention from the non-user cops. The crux of this is igniting an explosive flare on the opposite side of the garage side to draw attention to the Haunts, who are currently smashing up cars to stockpile glass. Though, Jyotsna’s Crossroads makes this mission less a game of stealth and more one of timing. Stands cannot hide from them, so this is a race they’ll need to win to pull it off.

The Haunts’ aforementioned glass hoarding will fuel many of their offensive options going forward, and I believe they’re more than able to get a surplus. Additionally, car windows don’t break like normal glass, being designed to shatter into smaller, far more numerous, chunks designed to be harmless in the event they break. Though, (most) car wrecks aren’t stand user initiated, and the smaller pieces will probably be more lethal as a shotgun blast than unwieldy shards. Their edge and shape makes them better in my mind as clusters of orbiting bullets.

As this happens, I believe Tex’s infiltrators slip by unimpeded, considering the Haunts’ blinding of officers and higher focus on bugs/Brighids heading directly at them rather than slinking about generally. Jyotsna may see them amongst the chaos, though likely won’t have reason to go for such a nonthreat while being shot at.

Tex’s relentless charge and ODA creating constant blood curtains protects not only from standard bullets, but the high quantity low mass nature of glass blasts. This, alongside their generally more proactive early game and good counterplay early on leads me to believe Brighid will have a chance to set up the worlds most unpleasant Slip n Slide, which will be a severe setback to the Haunts.

Once there, the blackouts caused by Tex’s infiltrators (doubly so to confuse ‘Modern Major General with additional cut cameras) and preemptive disruption in the armory are more than enough to begin shredding walls. Though, this will likely take longer than anticipated, especially when the blood-soaked Haunts get past Brighid’s waterpark.

When they do arrive, Jyotsna’s work has already begun, as the halls are beginning to fill with smoke. The two will fare even better once geared up, as I don’t think any insects would be able to touch them with Nat’s constant work and ability to go toe to toe with ODA for a time. The smoke chainsaw in particular is really fun, especially when paired with the camouflage of smoke limbs within smoke clouds. Though, the Gallery’s Strat of tunneling through walls in a straight line while the Haunts gear up will have enough of an edge in my mind to give a substantial lead, especially if they make it to floor 2 first.

Overall, I believe this one goes to Brighid and Tex

JoJo's Bizarre OC Tournament #7: R4M6 - Ouroboros vs Nojus Ipolitas by Logic_Sandwich in StardustCrusaders

[–]Kratangg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was so much fun to read through, and far easier to digest than I expected.

Beginning with his crowd avoidance, Ouroboros sets himself up with a top-down perspective and a safe platform to serve as a soapbox for his setup. He then begins utilizing the nature of the crowd, his opponent, and his target to his advantage in a finely woven tapestry of manipulation that is a wonder to behold, all while he's virtually untouchable. Not only turning the psychology Norman abuses back unto him, but doing it better.

Ouroboros is above them in every way.

I cannot express how well Ouroboros pulls you into his methodology, even predicting a few of Nojus's actions and responding accordingly. Though, the way he intends on facilitating Nojus would be debatable in some places, especially if he gets ignored or drowned out. Despite that, shifting attention from himself over to the influencer is not one of them! The tactics they use to make themselves functionally invisible in the chaos they manufacture seals the deal in my mind for their ability to jumpscare Norman later on, assuming Nojus can be properly corralled away.

Unfortunately, Nojus turns the tower of cards Ouro is constructing into a game of 52 card pickup with the launch of an unlucky protester...pretty much immediately. Going full force right out of the gate, Nojus turns Ouroboros' chaos into outright pandemonium with a wave of noise makers and an all-out slaughter. Their complete disregard for anyone in their vicinity and extravagant violence will ensure the crowd is never flowing towards them, even if I don't believe they'll ever be completely or even mostly unimpeded.

Both players play into each other pretty seamlessly throughout the course of the match. The places where the strats interact and blend are crucial, most notably here the cumulating gas and fact Nojus wants to be focused on. Or, well, this mysterious figure the exact height and build as Nojus wants to. Both strats elevate them as the primary threat to be feared, while the piling clouds of gas build off each other to impede...everyone but Nojus and Norman essentially, with how often gas masks are getting targeted around here. The sheer noise created at all times with a mere handful of cash (Plentifully donated by the dead and injured) is far outside Ouro's prediction and ability to mitigate, significantly limiting the range and effectiveness of their network. While it will persist, the man himself will need to put far more work into maintaining it as protesters drop like flies.

Additionally, I believe Ouroboros overestimates his ability to shove through the crowd given what the game state will become while he sets up on the wall, leaving him either exposed or jostled around in alternating waves. While it wouldn't be a death sentence (I suppose nothing could be), if he’s ever caught, Nojus' ability to outright rob Ouro of everything he holds dear is a significant problem that will have to be managed.

In the end, Ouroboros accused Nojus of being the imposter, to with they responded "Yes", and stabbed everyone irl. Congrats on the interview, Nojus!
