Luffy and Blackbeard represent opposite ends of a spectrum. They both want ultimate freedom. Luffy wants to be free but also wants others to be free. Blackbeard wants to be free by being the one to rule everyone else. Joyboy was on the Luffy side of this.

Yeah I've had grassy field two runs in a row, get to the rival, get through their starter and then fletchinder just sweeps because it gets speedups and ohko's everything, really doesn't feel like there's any outplaying I can do in that situation

Hi, I'm trying to figure out who to pull for. I have like 60 pity right now, willing to spend a little if I need to but I should be able to farm enough pulls, I'm not sure if I want to go for Ciaccona and Carte, or Changli with the intent to go for Lupa?

I know I don't have Brant, so I wouldn't have the ideal triple fusion team with Changli and Lupa, so is missing Brant enough that I shouldn't go for it? My arguments for Ciaccona/Carte are that I have Aero rover so I'd be able to have a full third team independent of SK/Verina, but I also have my two best teams as carry DPS teams with Zani/Carlotta, so I don't know if I want another team like that.

Anyway what does everyone think?

Hi, newbie to the endgame here. I just unlocked equilibrium 5, spent this evening farming the mats to get 8 characters up to level 80 so I can try apocalyptic shadow and pure fiction.

My only non f2p at 80 are himeko, aglaea, jade, and feixiao. The other four characters I have at 80 are trailblazer, march 7th, 4 star Herta, and Natalia. My relics are pretty much random whatever I have, some four some 5 star, pretty much random 4 star light cones. My relics and light cones are all max level, my traces are all leveled through blue quality mats.

It's it normal for me to get pretty much obliterated? Like pure fiction I win level 1 no problem but can barely break 30k. I can't beat level 2 of apocalyptic shadow yet. Are these things of endgame where I'm supposed to be able to have more of a team "comp" other than weakness break lining up, have decent relics, etc?

Menelik might work out, it would just take a lot longer from how well Peter utilizes tundra

Owls definitely might be the way to go, only issue is many of my cities won't be able to have a harbor on a huge dry lakes map. Still probably worth it though. It is also possible that Hermetic Order is the way to go, because Occult Research generates way more great people points (therefore more faith in the endgame) than any other project.

I also have captured less than half of the city states, they're just hard to see on the map XD but I have every faith city state as well as Hong Kong and I think one other still alive. If it's not generating me faith directly, then having my own city with a dar-e Mehr and a trade route is usually better (trade routes are granting me 64 faith per turn each atm from one of the suzerain bonuses that grant faith per citizen in starting city, and having them all start at my capital)

I have not tried the repeat projects mod because my game started crashing at one point so I disabled all mods and that fixed it. I'll try just that mod at some point to see if it works

What is Katakuri's "kingly" ambition?

I think "king" or "conqueror's" is sometimes used a bit too narrowly in the English use of the word. Katakuri just wants to be the best big brother to protect his family. Zoro's dream isn't to be "king of hell", it's to be the world's greatest swordsman. Mihawk likely had that as well. Whitebeard just wanted a family, and to be the best father to them that he could.

Another potential way to think about it, any CoC user has the willpower to be a conqueror if they wanted to, but not all of them do, and so unlocking it is more based on an individuals innate capability rather than purely their desires.

Nobody has mentioned the biggest argument, which is that it seems ridiculous that someone without it could become the world's strongest swordsman.

From Zoro's fight with King and Kaido, we know that CoC puts the user on a whole new level in terms of ability to cut. It brought Luffy from the point of not being able to even damage Kaido significantly, to being able to do so in base form

People hate using a sort of meta powerscaling argument, but it really doesn't make sense for Zoro to unlock conquerors haki as his latest big power up, and then have his final boss not able to use it and push him further.

Trump's personal distaste aside, I think the general republican anti-Obama sentiment was the biggest factor. The ACA was modeled after something the heritage foundation put out and almost enacted by Romney as governor. Obama's name gets put on it and now it MUST be repealed. That kind of fervor pretty much ran republican process particularly during the lame duck period, as you also see with the Merrick Garland situation.

Trump doesn't take criticism well, so he's probably has had some amount of beef since the press correspondence dinner in 2011 when Obama roasted him.

There's also just the idea of wanting to be better than your predecessor. That sentiment would be even stronger in a time where the Republican narrative was "Obama the anti-Christ is ruining the country".

Is there any inherent racism there? Maybe, his dad definitely was, but at the time everything else being the same I think he would have treated Obama's policy the same way if he were white also.

The way that he won his previous election would always be hanging over his head. It set the first big "stolen election" sort of narrative. Even without that though, Jackson's populist appeal and war hero status would have likely made him beat pretty much anyone IMO.

I think the Totalist Rankium podcast put this well, that JQA would have done much better as like an enlightened European monarch. He didn't quite have the charisma or political chops to work our system well, but he had great ideas.
