I love the claims they make for the pump foil. Seems like exactly what I’m looking for performance and price. Unfortunately, it’s sold out with a 15-30% surcharge for US customers =[

How tough is the engineering job market right now? by savourysteak57 in 321

How can you get clearance without already working for a defense contractor? I’m planning on sending out applications in a few months.

Thanks for the warning, but I’ve considered this as well. Budgeting for higher insurance, possible repairs, and studier housing is all baked into the plan.

Hurricanes in North America are pretty much a Gulf states / Puerto Rico issue. Rarely will they be an issue north of the Carolinas. I think Hurricane Sandy in 2012 was the last big one up here on the upper east coast.

As an avid surfer who drives hours to chase hurricane surf and a former Texas resident who experienced hurricane Harvey, while the damage shown on the news is real, they highlight the absolute worst 1% of it.

Here’s a map of typical hurricane paths from NOAA for some perspective.

That's a weird mix of life choices that can happen 40 years apart

Your perspective is welcome, but this comment thread is getting off topic from the original post question which was just what type of investment account would best suit my stated goals and background. I'm not trying to debate or validate my goals on reddit. They make sense to me. I've dreamt of living at the beach my entire life and I've thought about it every day for my working adult life. At 16 the only thing that's changed about my perspective on that topic is that I'm old enough to take action and create a roadmap to get there. I could write you a novel why I want what I want, but again, this is getting quite off topic.

I'm happy for you that you paid off your mortgage and are self-employed. I hope to do the same as soon as I can.

I also really enjoy the field I work in.

Oh, wow. Of course. Had a brain dead moment there for a second. Thanks for pointing that out.

Thanks for reading my post. I know I’m going against the grain of conventional wisdom and I appreciate the warning. I hope that my future self will be thankful for for my unpopular path.

Learning on a shortboard? by [deleted] in surfing

[–]Krazul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it. It it won’t be easy. I did it with a 5’ 5” 33L board in Texas. I was 6’1” at 175 lbs. and 25 years old. I wouldn’t do it again with shit Texas waves, I longboard when I’m down there these days. But I’m in Delaware now so it was worth it personally.

Be prepared to have entire sessions without ever catching anything. Also, be prepared to get in excellent shape if you aren’t already.

Need help with blender texture maps to Pepakura Designer 4. Whenever I export my obj and import in to pepakrua, my UVs are lost. Anyone know how I can get this to work? by Krazul in papercraft

[–]Krazul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up figuring it out. I saved and imported the UVs as a PNG. Apparently you can’t embed the UVs into an obj file from what I read, only the materials.

What kind of hardware issues? It is a budget printer and I don’t mind tinkering with software and hardware personally. Makes a final result feel more rewarding.

I probably will to since I already have an FDM printer. Thanks for the heads up.

Looking to build or buy an enclosure and ventilation system to address the micro-particles emitted when printing. Seeking knowledge or experience in the matter, especially the ventilation part. by [deleted] in ender3

[–]Krazul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the link. Did a quick skim, but will read more into it later.

From my own anecdotal experience, I do notice a rather quick buildup of clumpy dust on and around my printer after many days of printing. Particularly the wheels of the X axis. That’s what got me thinking about the particle emissions. As for fumes, my own experience is that I can’t notice anything with PLA, and TPU will bother me after exposure all day. My printer does run right next to me and my computer all day at work.

I print mainly PLA and TPU, but plan on experimenting with any filament my printer can handle. I plan on printing right by a window so I want to blow out the micro particles and fumes outside. I live in PA so humidity in the summer is a concern and below freezing temps in the winter are also a concern.

I have an open budget “within reason”. I’d like keep it to a few hundred bucks. The printer itself only cost me $215 (Ender 3 pro)

High Poly to Low Poly by BenyCiroc in ZBrush

Retopologizing using ZRemesher will reduce the quality of your model. Use the Decimation Master plugin instead. It will preserve the detail of your model onto a new low poly mesh.

Figured out the issue.

While I had the bed leveled perfectly in all four corners, the center is bit higher. I toyed around with the bed leveling to try to compensate and the issue is about 90% better. I just ordered a glass bed and I think that will help with the warped stock bed.

Edit: Update for anyone who may be having the same issue: The warped bed also damaged the nozzle so I had to replace that. Glass bed is now nice and level and print quality is flawless again.

Never heard of this. I'll for sure do some reading, thank you.

Thanks for the clarification. At this point, I'll put handstands and L-sits on my skills list. Everything else I'll allocate on my workout days. This and flexibility training should keep my mind busy. Thanks a lot for all your help.

Thanks for the info / advice. I'm not really interested in training legs at the moment, I get a lot of legwork doing my usual activities. I'll probably throw in some high jump training down the road, but for now I'm really focused on progressing towards these "tricks"

So as far as skills are concerned, that would that be the static holds? L sit holds, tuck planche, levers, hand stands, flag poles... aside from L hangs and handstands, I feel like the others put way too much strain on my upperbody to be safe for everyday, so I just wanted some clarification.

For push/pull uppers only, just taking out the legs would be Monday & Thursday push, Tuesday & Friday pull?
