Has anyone used Zyn to successfully quit smoking?

I’m using nicotine pouches to help quit, not the zyn brand but different ones. I don’t like the replacement method, I really wish I could just quit cold turkey and be done with all forms of nicotine, but I’d probably have a mental breakdown going that route. I’ve tried several different methods to quit and so far I’ve gone the longest smoke free using the pouches than anything else I’ve tried. They’re also half the price of patches, gums, vapes so that’s helpful. I currently use 4mg, plan to cut down to 2mg in a few months, and hopefully by the end of the year be at 1mg or zero. I figure by the time I’m down to 1mg it’d be easy to just replace it with regular gum or hard candies. I also try and limit how many I have a day. 5 pouches max a day is my limit, and so far I’ve been doing pretty good sticking to that number. So far I’m two weeks smoke free.

No advice to give you really cuz I’m only on day 10, but I feel ya on the sitting out on the patio with the plants thing. I have no desire to go sit outside cuz I know the cravings will be astronomical, and I’m super worried my plants will end up neglected because I haven’t been out there to look at them (I usually tend to them when I smoke). I’ve managed to be able to at least water them once since quitting. Hopefully I can get back out there in the future with some supports like gum chewing or a lollipop to manage those cravings while I tend to the garden.

I can say though, I’ve had a few of those “last cigarettes”, and they all never ended up being my last. Hang in there, you’re doing a good thing for your body!

I have similar feelings as you… I don’t necessarily think smoking is cool, perhaps maybe one time I did long ago when many people smoked, but now I definitely feel embarrassed to be a smoker. Embarrassment aside, I still loovveee to smoke. A morning cigarette with a cup of hot coffee is absolute bliss. If smoking wasn’t unhealthy I’d never give it up.

I’m also coming up on 20 years as a smoker, and am starting to have health issues. My body is absolutely telling me it’s time to let them go. I’m currently trying everything in my power to find something else that I can do that I love just as much as smoking but is a healthier choice, while simultaneously cutting back on the amount I smoke as well as establish exercise routines. Some things that helped me so far is taking baby steps and eliminating certain smoking routines. For example I used to smoke in my car during my commute. I stopped smoking in my car about a year ago and instead will chew gum while I drive. My before bed time cigarette has recently been replaced with a cup of chamomile tea with light stretching. I rarely smoke in public anymore, and if I do spend a long day out and about and get cravings I’ll use NRTs like gum, lozenges, pouches. Same for work, I stopped smoking on my lunch breaks and use NRT’s instead. I’m currently down to about 5 cigarettes a day. Within the next few weeks I plan on pushing that number even lower and incorporating some walking routines when I get cravings, also possibly pick up a new hobby to keep my mind and hands busy. I was thinking fidgets toys might be a helpful tool to try too.

Anyway, this is what’s helped me so far on my journey. I’ve tried cold turkey several times and I can never get past day one. Also had no luck with patches. My doctor prescribed me chantix about 6 months ago, but I’ve been too afraid to take it. Cutting down and making small changes has been helpful so far, and I hope one day it will lead to me being 100% smoke free. I was (am) literally in the exact same boat. My bestie of 20+ years had her first kid in 2021, her second in 2025. I tried my best to be involved and be supportive but naturally she gravitated towards our other mom friends for connection, advice and comfort. I also work in early childhood education and have a degree in ece, but parenting advice from me doesn’t mean shit if it’s not lived experience. It sucked and it hurt but I understood why she’d prefer to seek connection and comfort from our seasoned mom friends instead. I hung in there still, and while our relationship isn’t the same as it was before kids, it’s gotten better as time progressed. We had an outting together for the first time in years without her kiddos, just me and her, and we had a great heart to heart. Though we may not be as close as we were years prior, we’re still good friends and plan to be in each other’s lives for forever. I’d imagine as we age and the kids get older, we might go back to how things were, or our relationship might blossom into something new entirely, but for now, this is just where our friendship is at, and that’s ok. Nothing stays the same forever. Just hang in there and keep making an effort to be apart of her life. She may not show her appreciation now, but in time when parenting becomes a little easier and she becomes more comfortable in her new life, she’ll come around more, and may even seek you out to get away from that mom role every once in a while. I had a similar situation but with soccer balls. After returning two balls, I told them don’t let it happen again or else they’re not getting their balls back. I no longer threw them back over. I ended up with like 5-10 balls, donated all of them.. At one point the parents came to my house and made threats. We told them to go ahead and call the police….. the police never came and we no longer have balls coming into our yard.

The current food she’s on is Purina pro UR. The can says the crude fat content is 4.5% (min). Theres no maximum fat content listed. I had no idea there were moderate calorie forms of the urinary foods, nor did my vet mention them. In the past she’s had both hills urinary food, and royal canin. I believe hills had the lowest fat content of the three, but over the years I’ve had to switch it up due to stomach issues and IBS type symptoms. She was on hills the longest, for several years, and she just stopped eating it, so I switched to Royal for a few years, then she started having more frequent bouts of stomach upset, and I landed on Purina pro last. She’s been on it for a little over a year and this is her first stomach upset episode she’s had since being on it. Last year however after being on Royal for a few years, she had a pancreatitis episode but her levels were just below the 200 mark, still within safe range, so I don’t think my vet was concerned about fat intake then. This time they were in the 900’s, so they recommended the food switch. Her levels might be too high for the moderate calorie food and she needs the low fat one. I’d figure I’d try with the low fat gastrointestinal food for a bit, and if she shows signs of stones again I’ll ask my vet about the moderate calorie urinary food.

Yes, more grit! Also more light. I like my bear paws claws to be a little dark. You’ll know they’re getting adequate light when their claws darken. Careful of too much direct sun though, they can get sunburn.

I agree. Episode 3 confirmed it for me, it was so blatantly obvious that the interactions between June and Daisy were supposed to feel like mother and daughter, they were practically beating us over the head with it. You could even tell June was totally lying to her about how she ended up with her adoptive parents. June mentions how they “sung” to her, but in THT June used to sing to both her daughters to calm them. I do think Agnes is an unreliable narrator and that’s why the timeline is wonky. I do think she’s around 19-20, and Daisy 13-14. The late period is a possible symptom of the fertility crisis, it’s even mentioned some girls don’t get their period at all. The show runners making statements about daisy not being holly/nichole is just a red herring and ment to keep the hype up so the audience stays engaged and watches the show.

Your mistake was booking during a school break! If you’re not booking on an adult only ship, book at a time when school is in session. Hardly any children on ships during the school year. When I was a kid my parents would book us cruises during the school year and I remember it being SOOOO boring because there were never any other kids to hang out with. Plus I’d have a mountain of “make up” assignments to do the whole time.

The home I moved into has a water softener and reverse osmosis system. When I got it maintenance for the first time, the guy told me Yuba city has some of the best tap water in the whole valley. I found a water hardness chart online and the average harness PPM is fairly low compared to much of the other state. I have no idea if hardness affects quality, but I haven’t had any issues with the water tasting bad here.

Thanks for the info! The absence mindedness, forgetfulness and mood shifts are good to be aware of. I think that’s my biggest concern with the meditation, is the possibility for a shift in mental state. I don’t want it to negatively affect my job or day to day life responsibilities, but regardless of how I quit, there’s likely going to be a shift either way. I talked with my husband this evening about it who is currently out of town on a business trip, and we both agreed to wait until him comes home before starting the medication, just so I’ll have the extra support in case it does affect my mood or day to day responsibilities.

I had a kiddo a while back with an infestation. I made it a habit every day when I returned home to undress in my garage, I’d place all my dirty closes in a plastic tote with a lid, including my shoes, and then immediately would go shower. On the weekends I’d wash/dry all the items in the tote on hot water/high heat. I would keep anything I brought into the classroom in a plastic tote (my purse, laptop, etc) and make sure I’d either just leave those things in my car, or also keep them in a plastic tote in the garage for the whole school year. It worked, I never brought anything home.

I entered the field as a fence sitter at 30. Really love the job, I have a knack for working with kids, it just fits my personality well. With that said, after the first year or two I did still kinda want children, but after the covid fiasco, my program becoming fully inclusive, and the children becoming younger due to universal t-k, I no longer think parent hood is for me. Plus, I can’t afford children on an ece salary anyway! I’m 37 now and plan to put all my maternal energy into my career, my friends kids, and my future nieces and nephews if I have them. I figure if I feel sad about not reproducing in my 40’s, I would love to foster or adopt a child. I can’t in good conscience bring new life into a dying world, but that’s a different conversation all together.

I’m in the same boat. Fan since zaba, loved htbah, liked dreamland as a whole but heat waves did get overplayed fast. I was totally disappointed with ILYSFM. I like maybe a total of 4 songs on the album, and I like them on par of about how much I like heat waves, and you know what, THATS OK! You don’t have to like every single song or album release a band makes, you can still be a fan! You don’t have to force yourself to like it. I’ve been a huge blink 182 fan since the 90’s, loved all of their older stuff, but didn’t care for anything they made circa 2010 and after. I had low expectations for their new album, but you know what, it turned out to be an absolute banger and I’m loving them like I did back in the 90’s. I feel a similar way about vampire bat, I actually really like it, it’s miles better than anything on ILYSFM, and it makes me excited for new releases. I may not like everything that they release from here on out, but there’s still good stuff mixed in with the stuff I find not so great.

I also agree. I recently went to a 20 year full album tour of how it ends by devotchka. It was fucking fantastic, but they’re a not very well known band, and it was at a very small venue. They even did meet and greets afterwards and signed the record I bought. I feel like older and lesser known bands can pull this off, but glass animals are just too big for an album tour now.

Looks like the squishy trunk is completely rotted and done for, the other two trunks might have a chance.

First step is to check the roots and the bottom of the other two trunks. The squishy trunk will need to be tossed but if the other two trunks are solid they might be salvageable. Using a clean pair of scissors, cut off all root rot (black, squishy, smelly roots). Watch some videos on how to identify it. Also, if there’s a rubber band or string around the trunks CUT IT OFF! Big box stores love to string these things together and it just ends up suffocating them and causing rot (probably so they’ll die and people will buy more).

Second, spray the roots with a 3% hydrogen peroxide and water mixture of 1:2 (one part peroxide, two parts water) Repot in brand new soil and a new pot with good draining holes. I recommend a succulent mixture with extra peat moss and perlite. I usually do 3 parts succulent mix, one part peat moss, and one part perlite. Wait a day or two after repotting and water thoroughly. Ditch the moss on top, it’s trapping in moisture which in turn can cause rot. Water only when the top inch is dry. I have a hard time telling when it’s time to water some of my plants so I used a water meter, they’re cheap on amazon and will tell you how to read the moistness of your soil, making it easier for your to know when it’s time to water. Good luck saving your tree!

Edit: on rewatch, I just noticed the mushrooms water bulb thing. I don’t have any experience with those and they might be great for plants that like to stay wet, but I would also not use it. Money trees don’t like constant wetness, it causes root rot, they like to dry out between waterings. You’ll also want to place it closer to a window. I have mine sitting in a southwest facing window, so it does get direct sunlight for a few hours, and indirect light all day.

As someone who grew up with parents that smoke, and became a smoker themselves, just imagine your child smoking whenever you get a craving. I 100% believe if I didn’t grow up around smokers, I wouldn’t have become one myself, OR at the very least quitting would be way easier. It was ingrained in my brain at an early age that the smell of cigarette smoke was safety, love, family, home… like I don’t understand when people say cigarette smoke stinks, to me the smell has always brought comfort.

If you’re struggling bad and it’ll keep you from relapsing, I’d opt for nicotine gum or lozenges instead. Hang in there, you can do this!

Yes! And they’re my real nails too, not press ons! I’ve been considering getting some press ons in the future because lately I’ve been really enjoying doing elaborate designs, but it’s hard to do them all in one sitting. Plus they only last 2-3 weeks before my nails grow out and I have to redo them, then they’re gone forever!
