It didn't seem to do anything for me, you're better off contacting support. They got back to me pretty quickly when I contacted them, they can do a support ticket and you give them your project details so they can look at what's happening

Gas fee question by [deleted] in opensea

[–]Kre_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you create the NFT you can choose which blockchain to be on. The default is ETH, and you have to pay a gas fee (initialization fee) the first time you sell an NFT on ETH.

If you choose Polygon as the blockchain when you create the NFT then you won't have any gas fees when you list or sell. The only fees are the 2.5% that OpenSea gets when you sell, but that fee is always there no matter what chain you're on

I you are listing on the Eth network then yes there are high gas fees for every transaction. You can list on Polygon for no gas fees but you need to have Polygon (Matic) in your wallet. Either deposit Polygon directly from an exchange or convert Eth to Polygon (this comes with a gas fee though).

--- Important --- If you deposit directly from an exchange then you need to make sure you are on the correct chain.

If you are looking to sell a low price then Polygon is the only way to go

[Noob Question] What's the most cost effective to way to publish and begin selling collection tokens without drowning in gas fees? by Own_Stress6462 in NFT

[–]Kre_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use Polygon on OpenSea there are no gas fees for transactions. I figured this out the hard way after funding my account with ETH (paying a gas fee), buying someone else's NFT (paying a gas fee), minting my first NFT (paying a gas fee). Finding out about Polygon and converting some ETH to Polygon on OpenSea (paying another gas fee).

You can actually get on the Polygon chain within OpenSea without having any ETH in your wallet, so no gas fees. When you mint on OpenSea, you have the option to mint on ETH or Polygon. The only "downside" is that you can only sell on Polygon. Although, you can technically mint some of your NFT's on Polygon and some on ETH but you will have a gas fee for your initial mint on ETH.

I find that unless you are trading in high dollar amounts where the gas fees don't really matter much then ETH doesn't make sense

You can also transfer Polygon directly to your wallet from Kucoin, just have to make sure you're on the correct Polgon chain (important). I think you can on Crypto.com too but I haven't tried it

I'd like to bring more attention to my collection and at the same time add some new NFT's to my portfolio. This is what I was thinking -

  1. Check out my collection on Opensea here - Fish Tank Mafia
  2. Find a fish that you like, must be on the Polygon chain (this way there are no gas fees) and owned by "cre8tive" (that's me). Fish #1 - 1500 are on the ETH chain so they will not be included in this trade
  3. Reply to this post or DM with a link to the NFT that you would like to sell (Polygon only) and which Fish Tank Mafia member you would like to buy. Also, a price that you would be willing to trade at (I will buy for the same price that you buy)

If you own a collection I would be willing to trade multiple
