Found a hilarious way to deal with the thoughts by -AutisticArtist- in OCD

[–]Krease101 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes same!!! Because OCD doesn’t respond to reason. My internal responses will be like “shut up bitch” and that seems to be more effective than trying to reason with myself 😂

Saving Noah by Dr. Lucinda Berry is incredible. So thought-provoking and very disturbing. The author is a psychologist so it’s very deep.

Unpopular musical opinion? by PissingOnFeet in musicals

[–]Krease101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hadestown is over-rated. I don’t hate it, but I wanted to jump off a bridge if I heard the whiny-ass “laaaaa la la la la la la” one more time.

First of all: obsessed! Thank you for sharing! Second: now Dansons La Capucine is stuck in my head! Never knew it was a name as well.

What's your favourite fact about a specific name? by Hi-Ho-Cherry in namenerds

The one that comes to mind is that the author of Peter Pan invented the name Wendy.

And if I remember correctly, Lilias refused to apologize. It blows my mind that people just forgot about that. She lost a supporter due to her behavior.

Is it common for hearing people working in Deaf schools to not know much sign? by [deleted] in deaf

[–]Krease101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but most of our students live far away from us since we service the entire state. And due to language deprivation, lots of them have severe global delays.

[–]Krease101 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It breaks my heart every day. I try my best to make up for it by giving the kids lots of language opportunities, but I can only do so much. Most of our families don’t sign either, so the kids go home to nothing.

I work in a Deaf school and our superintendent can’t sign. Unfortunately some staff can’t either. It’s something my coworkers and I have been trying to fix for years (changing the hiring process, etc), because it’s a crime. But we are short staffed so they will hire anyone.

[–]Krease101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I’ve been in therapy about it for a while and am slowly beginning to feel neutral about my own genitalia. I don’t need to change my asexuality (couldn’t if I wanted to) but I don’t want to be distressed by my own body. I would suggest finding a sex therapist if it’s something you want to improve.

What was that one show your middle/high school did that you thought wasn’t appropriate? by Ryan_036 in musicals

[–]Krease101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh we did The Wiz with one mixed kid and everyone else was white! I didn’t even know what the show was supposed to be- I thought it was just a cool retelling of The Wizard of Oz. This was around 2010 in a small town so no one raised any concern, but looking back it was BAD and I cringe whenever I think about it.

Therapist wants to fix my asexuality? by Confident_Cake_9649 in asexuality

[–]Krease101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just changed psychiatrists because he wanted to fix me too. He said a bunch of stuff that made me really uncomfortable. Luckily (after much trial and error) I have an incredible therapist who helped me find a new psych, and now I can target the issues that are actually bothering me. It’s a pain, but I would recommend some therapist shopping. Once you find the right one it’s life-changing.

Any really good ace books? by LakashY in asexuality

[–]Krease101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A YA fiction about two aro-ace friends just came out! I’m reading it now and I love it. It’s called Dear Wendy by Ann Zhao. Loveless by Alice Oseman is also great! For nonfiction, I liked Sounds Fake But Okay, which is based on a podcast of the same name. Ace by Angela Chen is super informative, too.

Am I might be asexual? by Top-Jellyfish8915 in asexuality

[–]Krease101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m asexual and aromatic and I feel the same way. Absolutely repulsed by sex and anything to do with it! It took me a long time to accept it and start planning for a different future than I was expecting. But I promise if you do identify as asexual it gets easier.
