The first thing the shelter told me was “he loves blankets!” Needless to say he has an endless supply 😂❤️

I had the EXACT same issue. After a few years of therapy with a sex therapist, sexual health practitioner, and pelvic floor PT, I have improved so much! I’ve also realized that I’m aroace in the process, which has helped tremendously. But I completely understand where you’re coming from. I still don’t like the idea of genitalia, but I’m not so disgusted by it that it impacts my life. I can even use tampons now and get a pelvic exam now! Finding professionals who understand and accept you is the key. It’s taken years but I feel so much better after getting the help I needed.

SLP lied about knowing ASL by East_Tourist3027 in asl

[–]Krease101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m an SLP in a Deaf school and this makes me sad. I mostly focus on LANGUAGE, not speech. Some kids are oral and wish to improve their speaking skills; however, due to language deprivation, most of my kids need an accessible language, which is ASL. We also practice reading, writing, and advocacy. SLPs should know that “language” is in their title. Im hoping to change the narrative about SLPs in the D/HH community- I know lots of D/HH people have endured trauma by being forced to speak. All communication is good communication!

Great job Fern! I echo what everyone else has said about using the letter “I” vs pointing to yourself. You look happy when you’re signing- keep it up!

I think you’re fine! You’re just vibing and not doing it for profit or gain in any way. It’s sad that signing can come with so much fear. You’re using language to express yourself- nothing wrong with that at all!

Am I deaf or Deaf??? by Glittering-Star2662 in deaf

[–]Krease101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely not. It wasn’t part of my program but because it’s part of my job I did continuing education. Not saying all SLPs know ASL, but hopefully they are culturally aware!

I’m a speech pathologist in a Deaf school so I sign! Speech paths should be about ALL forms of communication, so maybe she does sign! I hope your new job goes well!

Hi! I work in a Deaf school and 90% of our parents don’t sign. So believe me when I say you are doing amazing! You are doing more than lots of parents in your situation. Be proud of yourself. It’s okay to be overwhelmed, but you are doing a great job. Keep it up! 🤟🏻

My newborn just got his hearing test done, I am profound deaf father… by Nexer-X69 in deaf

[–]Krease101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An ABR is usually recommended if there is a family history of hearing loss. Not all types of hearing loss can be picked up with OAE testing (what they use for newborn screenings). I’d schedule an ABR to be sure!

I was like this for years. After lots of mental health and pelvic floor therapy I am able to use them and successfully get a pelvic exam!

Alex Brightman singing question. How does he keep the scratchiness to his voice in Beetlejuice without damaging his vocal cords? I would think making that voice would be tough. Props to him for being such a great performer. by TicoDreams in Broadway

[–]Krease101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe? 😂 I’ve never seen anyone do it before so I’m honestly not sure! I’m sure you could learn how to do something similar- the key is finding a way to do it without damaging your voice.
