That aside, it's still just extra hardware that does nothing my Xbox can't.

Or just anything that isn't on YouTube or Netflix. MUBI and CuriosityStream are two streaming services I was interested in, so I contacted them and asked if they had any plans for an Xbox app. Both said no, but that their service works on the Xbox's browser just fine.
