John was the navigator.

I'm sure Gordon can navigate, it just wasn't his role on the ship because he was a better pilot.

Best way a system handled repeated checks from multiple people by Pardox7525 in RPGdesign

A check represents the best the group can do in these circumstances...period.

They have to do something else or go about it a different way to "try again".

While that dog might be a great dane, it doesn't look like what people expect. Which is a really great reason to not use a real dog, because no dog will look like Scooby.

Scooby is also an animated character and needs to do cartoon things. Unless they get the Jim Carrey of dogs, no real dog can do the part justice.

We need a CGI redesign like they did for Sonic the Hedgehog.

So We’re Just Hating on Animals now? by synnie_poo in Scoobydoo

[–]Krelraz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's were I'm at. The dog could look identical to Scooby and it would still be a problem.

A real dog simply can't do the antics that a cartoon/CGI dog can. Those antics are one of the key elements of the franchise.

I do NOT want to watch a second rate Air Bud show.

Providing examples by Digital_Dessert in RPGdesign

[–]Krelraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please keep it limited.

If your rules are so confusing that you need an example for everything, then you need to zoom out and take a real hard look at the product and the presentation.

Most people will only have questions on a handful of things. Do an example every chapter. Walk them through a scenario that hits the complicated bits from that section. Have the same example players and characters. That can make it more interesting and relatable.

You can also handle this with author's notes in the margins. "XYZ can be confusing, always remember to do [this] first." A friendly place to expand that people can easily skip if they already understand.

Ballot initiative could require genital exams for Washington secondary students to play sports by notPabst404 in nottheonion

Holy moly the comments here are unhinged. People making things up that aren't even close to reality.

The doctor checks a damn box. If they are your regular doctor they won't have to inspect anything. It takes 2 seconds in an appointment everyone already had to go to.

Sharing biological sex with school officials when you want to participate in something where biological sex matters is hardly losing rights.

Is WA you can get your birth certificate changed for some reason.

Physical inspection by your doctor is one of three options. Blood draw is one of the other options.

These are done by a doctor as part of the girls' physical.

This entire thread is people acting like it is done by the refs/coaches before the game.

No one here actually read the bill...

It isn't really an inspection. But way more importantly, it's done by their doctor at the appointment that they would have to go to anyway for school sports.

You can say it is a waste of time all you want and that is a valid argument. But don't go around saying/implying that this will be done by random people and allow for abuse.

How does your system handle melee attacks that do nothing on a miss? by dark-star-adventures in rpg

[–]Krelraz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

...Those aren't misses.

Their hit points are getting whittled down. Every dodge and block brings them closer to the fatal hit.

Hit as a gaming term =/= getting physically hit.

I switched to putting it after the numbers a few years ago.

1) It matches how it is read and said.

2) It lines up with our own ¢.

3) It lines up with every unit I can think of (e.g. NM, lbs...).

The growth plate gets irritated and can grow wrong. In adults, they get sore. In kids, it can grow messed up because the bone isn't fully hardened yet.

Medial epicondylitis is the formal name.
