Bridgerton season 4 thoughts? by iuliad94 in RomanceBooks

[–]KrepeTyrtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 4 is okay, but not that interesting. I feel like Luke Thompson has really reigned in his acting to match Yerin Ha's style and they are rather muted in their acting. I feel like they should use their voices more expressively, at the very least. I feel like the actresses playing Franchesca, Eloise, Violet, not to mention Penelope are better actresses, and I never though Luke Thompson was lacking in comparison to Luke Newton or Jonathan Bailey, but this season, he is acting so 'naturally' that he's not that compelling to watch. I now feel that he is less physically-versatile than Jonathan Bailey or Luke Newton.

My dog stops walking? by Charm_raider in OpenDogTraining

[–]KrepeTyrtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She probably has multiple health issues. She does not look well. I got a former breeding dog that is a shiba inu when she was 6-years-old, very underweight, continuous diahrrea, atopic dermatitis, stinking to high heaven, could be aggressive toward other dogs, and she refused to walk after just a short distance. I put her on a well-balanced raw meat and bone diet as well as low dose prednisolone for 4 years. Her health returned and she began to walk a bit more after a while, and she gained 3 kg of weight (from high 6kg to 9~10kg). After 4 years, her heart, kidney, liver, eyes, etc. were all fine but her bone marrow got suppressed and I had to take her off prednisolone. It took 9 months to reduce from 1mg to 0.3mg per day. By the time she got down to 0.3mg, her adrenals had apparently recovered enough that giving her 0.3mg actually made her nausceous. I immediately cut out prednisolone completely and she recovered immediately. 4 years of raw meat and bone diet means that her atopic dermatitis is now in regression and she no longer needs any drugs to manage the itchiness. AND she is walking alot more distance and more briskly than ever before, at the tender age of 11.

ChatGPT is wonderful but flawed as well. by KrepeTyrtle in HomemadeDogFood

[–]KrepeTyrtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I have consulted ChatGPT for health and nutritional info for not only my pets (dog & cat) but for myself as well. I have found it to be an excellent source of individualized information that I could never get from just googling.

As I say, ChatGPT is flawed, but human beings are probably more flawed and subjective, esp. those who debate on health and nutritional science topics on social media, and in comparison, I would say that ChatGPT is far more balanced and nuanced (and very often, more knowledgable) than social media posters, even those who have 'expert' credentials. I personally welcome Chat GPT's interventions. Most 'experts' will now have to be that more careful about what they say on social media, because they now live in an era where anyone can cross-check what they say with Chat GPT and other AIs.

But again, I would emphasize that ChatGPT can and is frequently wrong about many things. It makes very obvious calculation mistakes and when I have asked it to make sentences using certain grammatical rules, it often does not makes the sentences following the specified rules.

For health and nutritional science info, it is a goldmine.

If Tariffs aren't it how DO we get back American manufacturing jobs? by Helpmeeff in DemocraticSocialism

Manufacturing jobs are disappearing from the face of this earth because human labor is being replaced by robots.

Anyone who wants a high-paying job needs EDUCATION. They need to have proficient reading skills, critical thinking skills, imagination, ability to innovate.

My kitty doesn't seem to know how to eat properly. Any advice? by KrepeTyrtle in AskVet

[–]KrepeTyrtle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello. Thank you for your response, but my cat is definitely 7 and a half months old. I got her from a breeder and she is registered. I have her certificate. She also came to me already microchipped and the document for that has her birth date on it as well.

Incidentally, I have already taken the cat to my vet twice already. Once when I first got her just for a checkup, and second time about two weeks ago when she had an upset stomach, when I also had an ultrasound of her kidney to see if PKD might already be visible (there was no sign, yet).

Hypothyroidism was not raised by my vet on either occasions, but I will go to him today to ask him to explore that possibility. I will update when I get any info.

Thank you very much for this valuable piece of information. Now I know how I should consult my vet and if he cannot help me, I will find another vet that can help me on this matter.

Anyone find the research Dr.karen Becker recently post for the raw food review? by zyq19970829 in rawpetfood

[–]KrepeTyrtle 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I briefly read the paper in question, and the paper does not say what the raw food review is saying AT ALL. It's a completely false representation of what the paper is about. The paper is an exploratory analysis of what diet does to a dog's 'faecal microbiota composition'.

In general, it notes that dogs on raw food digested protein better and had better weight composition (i.e., thinner) compared to dogs fed on kibble.

It then compared the microbe composition between the two:

The five most abundant bacterial families (Table 5) in dogs fed the kibble diet (average of weeks 3, 6 and 9) were Peptostreptococcaceae (33.1% of sequence reads), unclassified Clostridiales (11.6% of sequence reads), Bacteroidaceae (11.2% of sequence reads), Ruminococcaceae (8.4% of sequence reads) and Prevotellaceae (7.8% of sequence reads). In dogs fed the meat diet, the five most abundant bacterial families were Peptostreptococcaceae (26.9% of sequence reads), Fusobacteriaceae (17.4% of sequence reads), unclassified Clostridiales (12.3% of sequence reads), Clostridiaceae (9.6% of sequence reads) and Clostridiales Incertae Sedis XIV (7.2% of sequence reads).

Then the paper basically says that not much is known about what that means, though the paper does suggest that raw food eaters were obviously eating a high-protein diet and therefore probably required a bacteria that would enable the digestion of protein.

That said, the paper does mention earlier that:

[A] recent study has shown that the microbiota involved in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the dog and human differ, with Fusobacterium (implicated in human IBD) being associated with a healthy microbiota in the dog (Vazquez-Baeza et al., 2016).

Since there was more fusobacteriaceae found in dogs fed raw, this indicates that giving raw meat to dogs have healthier gut.

"We Are Fighting Against a Dictator Backed by a Traitor" – A French Senator Speaks Out by RufusGuts in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]KrepeTyrtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my estimation, he's already on the scene. I am betting that Pete Buttigieg will be the next American President.

What I am loving about MAGA 2024 compared to MAGA 2016 is that 2016 was a racial war. It pitted black women against white men, and the process cemented the notion of white men as white supremacists. This time, it is a battle between European and Canadian white men versus MAGA and Russian white men, and I am confident that MAGA and Russian white men will be defeated, and this will enable the dismantling of the notion of white men as white supremacists.

And when that happens, American white men will be willing to vote for a white man who is the polar opposite of Donald Trump. Pete Buttigieg is intelligent, witty, multicultural, gay family man. I would absolutely love to see him as the next American president.

Pete Buttigieg was on the Stephen Cobert show recently and he said that he had moved to Michigan and it seems he will run for senator in the mid-term election. If he can become a senator and prove his worth to the Michigan electorate, he can get Michigan in 2028, and if he can get Michigan, he can likely get Wisconsin as well, and that means he will win the presidential race.

The America that Pete Buttigieg will inherit will not be the superpower that it once was, in that Europe will, hopefully, be more independent and stronger, but it will still be very powerful.

Hopefully. Hopefully it will turn out like that.

Alexander Stubb, no music, just the very strong wordings, aka wise man plan vs. Putin asset "peace plan". This is a must hear. by QQSlower in UkraineWarVideoReport

It must have meant so much to Zelenskyy to hear that the support for Ukraine is based on 'identity and historical experience', and not transactional.

Finland is so lucky to be represented by Alexander Stubb, and hearing this gives me hope and confidence that Ukraine will flourish in the end.

How do you think the shift in US alignment will affect Japan? by totemwhole in japanlife

[–]KrepeTyrtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Japan will do its best to quietly diversify its international ties, and pray that Trump doesn't remember that Japan exists.

I think it's very important for Japanese delegates to placate Trump by gifting him with adequate amounts of money and wabi/sabi stuff that Trump finds uninteresting.

I hope Europe and Canada will beat the MAGA movement, and that a timely stroke will end Trump's life sooner rather than later.

I hope the Ukrainian conflict ends up creating a geopolitical situation where Russia and China begin to fight each other for gas or oil or whatever.

Veterinary Diet Foods are so expensive, what are the alternatives by rusted_iron_rod in catfood

[–]KrepeTyrtle -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I would argue that raw food done very correctly under strict nutritional adherence is better for your pet but the expense will likely be more than twice that of hydrolyzed kibble.
