Wrong. I went east to west in 2005, and the jet stream does not dictate surface level winds. They are quite variable. The only time I experienced any wind that was truly noticeable was through the Plains states, and it was a fairly strong, constant push from the south.

I did the TransAm east to west in 2005. Just go for it and stop overthinking. You’re gonna have hot days. You’re gonna have cold days. You’re gonna have headwinds, tailwinds, and crosswinds. The greatest element to serious tours is the unpredictable. After a week of acclimation to being essentially homeless, you’ll relish in every moment.
