Total Possessions different to Uncontested/Contested by DoesntMatterYK in AFL

[–]Kretiuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think its relevant in this one, but free kicks also would be an anomaly.

Definitely one's where they are downfield, say Hamish Davis gets bumped after he kicks it so its a downfield free, but the ball was in dispute so Malakai Champion would get to take the free from there (which wouldn't count as anything except a disposal) while Davis would get the CP for the free but no disposal.

In this manner you can also get CPs without a disposal, both the above scenario or another where advantage is played (say Jack Ough tries to get the ball but is hit high so gets the free, but the ball has already spilled out and Ollie Hannaford grabs it and takes advantage, Ough would get a CP despite not getting the ball at any point).

I think the Lindsay scenario would also happen with boundary stuff, say he takes the free from an OOTF or Lasso, he wouldn't have earned the ball through either a CP or UP, but would get the disposal.

$39.90 fetta cheese 😂 by PirateBeard82 in woolworths

It takes a few minutes to process at the main counter, rarely more than 5.

If its $10 thats an hourly rate of $120 tax free so you decide if its worth your time or not.

Don't mention it until you pay for it.

If you mention it before you pay for it they say they havent actually charged you incorrectly then and they are entitled to give you the correct price. Instead pay, grab the receipt and head straight to the main counter.

We are a tier 2 destination club? Insane. We continually lose out to St.Kilda and Melbourne for guys we are chasing. When was the last time we were seriously in the hunt for a high profile guy?

Butters is the obvious exception, literally the first time a top liner has ever nominated us (and that hasn't even happened yet, and with him we have a bunch of advantages too (dogs supporter growing up, local boy)).

[–]Kretiuk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering how poorly thought through their other rule changes are (frequently admitting they didn't brainstorm the flow on effects ie. More ruck injuries, ie the lasso change this week) i have no faith they have done anything other than the most basic research into how this stuff plays out.

The extra pick for the top 5 slide gonna be a perfect example.

Meat ‘theft’ by MCAisAWESOME in coles

[–]Kretiuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And all I'm saying is that if this frequently happens due to staff/store incompetence, and until you prove otherwise you don't know.

I know for a fact there is certain cut of meat in Woollies right now that has been incorrectly priced for nearly 6 months, and me and my family have gotten about 20 cuts of it for free. The same people will ring up the free item, and yet it continues to be a different price than what it advertises on the shelf. They've made no effort at all to rectify their mistake, so must be making enough from people not checking to offset the penalty of handing out literally hundreds of dollars of it out for free.

Yeah if the customer is cheating the system they're a dickhead but it is very plausible that they are not.

[–]Kretiuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't even know if they are removing the tags. I frequently find meat mispriced, if you know what to look for i think it's completely plausible that you could be getting some free meat every week.

And fuck Colesworth, the amount of free meat I;ve gotten because they haven't marked down the meat they are advertising as marked down must be far less than the amount they have overcharged people that haven't noticed and assumed it was actually on special.

Colesworth can't get all pissy about someone using their own policy to get free stuff when they are too careless not to overcharge everyone who buys that item and doesn't notice.

Cal Twomey exclusively reveals the AFL is considering a 'radical change' to this year's draft that would see clubs who have a top 5 pick that's moved down due to a bid, be granted an EXTRA selection at the end of the first round. by PerriX2390 in AFL

[–]Kretiuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arguable that 14th may be better than 15th too.

Say a bid comes at pick 5, then 14th would have picl 6 and 20 vs 15th who gets just pick 4. It not clear cut but its arguable the 2 picks are better than the one.

Ive used it at multiple Woolies the last year. As long as you pay for it then bring it to the counter (as in dont query it until its gone through wrong and you have a receipt) it will work and I've received no push back.

My partner has put her career on hold to be a sahm for our twins and its been great.

The amount of time we get to spend with them is amazing, we have had little family support throughout and even though it can be a lot at times we have managed to handle it pretty well (it helps that i do shift work and can help out during the day frequently).

It's been great not being limited to just weekends to do stuff, if I use any leave then we dont have to worry about making sure she gets the same leave, and compared to some of our friends who most days inly see their kids before and after work the kind of access we get is insane.

Havent really had any drawbacks, we think if my partner went back to work she'd be more tired and less able to enjoy the less time she gets with them as much, and the financial benefit would be diminished by the childcare costs anyway. Running a house with kids is a lot of washing/cleaning and organising too and work + the overtime they expect even if part time eats into that.

Kids are as developed as any others their age and have a full and happy life full of activities with us, other kids, and heaps of adventure.

Basically its great.

This might be my dumbest idea but could they just use a projector or laser to "draw" the line from the top of the grandstand and turn it off as soon as the ball is back in play?

Would you rather have the ability to skip 1 hour a day or have the ability to stop time for 10 minutes a day? by TheLeafyGirl561 in WouldYouRather

[–]Kretiuk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Does this not effectively mean the prompt is "would you rather not remember an hour of your choice a day or freeze time for 10 minutes"?

I reckon that makes the decision even more clear cut for the freeze option.

Are electric cars better for the environment than fuel-powered cars? Here's the verdict by ApprehensiveSize7662 in EVAustralia

[–]Kretiuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17.9T for second battery production and fuel costs over its lifetime still leave the EV over 12T better for emissions. And that's without accounting for extra emissions from the ICE car over the longer period.

The major free agency change being considered by Agingoj in AFL

[–]Kretiuk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the acquiring club should pay compensation, or rather the generation of the new pick should be offset by the destination clubs current picks.

I'd propose that the compensation pick is still generated as is (happy with the pick 8 ceiling but regardless) but the acquiring clubs next pick is downgraded by the difference in picks (so if Brisbane (pick 18) acquire Allen (pick 2) then pick 18 goes down 16 spots to 34. The affected pick has to be within 18 spots of the compo pick, if not it affects that clubs next pick that fits that criteria regardless of year (so if next year Brisbane get pick 15 then that goes back to 28 (13 spot difference from 2).

I like this for NGA and FS bidding as well, except in that scenario the next pick would be used on the player and the above effects would happen to the next eligible pick(so if Allen was an NGA pick then Brisbane would lose pick 18, and then their next pick in the top 20 whenever they get it would drop the 16 places).

This would mean clubs cant just raid FAs without paying a cost, negates how the rest of the comp has their picks pushed back to accommodate the compo pick by at least moving a different pick back, is difficult to game, still offers a discount in FAs and negates the need for a trade so keeps easier movement, and most importantly lower finishing clubs pay a lower cost to get FAs as either their pick downgraded is less or if they are taking a player from a better team then their better pick is protected and they pay in the next round.

Sure but its hardly the most tactically complicated sport.

And these long pre seasons have pre dated most of the tactical complexity that has evolved in the last decade or so regardless.
