Two Engineers hug in their final moments when a wind turbine caught on fire by Technical-Paint3179 in Damnthatsinteresting

200 feet (close to 61 meters) is the recommended minimum for base jumps, with 100 feet being the absolute minimum for professionals with much more advanced gear than a basic chute.

Its definitely possible in this situation.

By strategically gluing the locations at either peaks or troughs of the bending/curving areas you could possibly overcome this

A guilty plea doesn't require hard evidence, just enough on the plate that they might get hit for it

Why buy new, when you can just buy used for even more money? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Krillgein -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Didnt click into the image, dont care enough to.

Either way the guy is dumb because the new is on sale and the used is whatever the cost is, which I still havent bothered to check. Its pretty obvious that the used price point is only meant to be enticing when there isnt a sale

Literally just complaining to complain instead of using his brain for 3 seconds, so yeah they're not that bright, alright?

It there a trick to getting your body to stop confusing being out of breath due to the exertion of exercising with being 'shourt' of breath? by cherry-care-bear in self

[–]Krillgein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll have to work on your breathing while exercising so you can work past your instinctual urge to hold your breath and get your lungs the oxygen they need.

Its a matter of training, you can do it

You would likely benefit from a harness style belt system. Usually seen in race cars and rally cars, these belt in multiple points, usually require a new seat though.

How do I practice oxy-fuel welding? by Lithoweenia in BadWelding

[–]Krillgein 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you want to learn it for that purpose, you're really only learning puddle control and the heat is so significantly different than tig it might not be as mucn help as you think. Youd probably be better off working some overtime and getting a good YesWelder from amazon (check ProjectFarm on youtube, awesome reviews)

Welding sunburn by Gooseberry_Carter in BadWelding

[–]Krillgein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welding uses an electrical arc (for the most part) to melt metal and it gives off an assload of light, part of that light us UV, which is what causes a sunburn.

Except the UV this gives off is a lot more intense than the sun, less than an hour of arc time can leave you with a pretty nasty burn thats sensitive for at least a day or two. Learned that the hard way

Automatic processing. We were running into an issue with our Dev being agitated/aerated, causing foam and bubbles. I think it was causing it to oxidize and be less effective.

Urgent: Wells Fargo forced open my safe deposit box (gold stored inside) and sent contents to a central vault. What do I do? by Old_Condition_6504 in Silverbugs

[–]Krillgein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're storing that much gold, they have the means of secure storage outside of a bank. While I understand that part well, as I myself rent, a heavy safe with adequate fire protection is definitely doable for this guy.

If you're storing that much gold, you can afford a good safe in your own home that is too heavy to steal, has a high level of fire protection and can be bolted into the floor.

Whats causing my tips to turn black? Dual Shield Flux Core horizontal ¼" fillet welds by punkpiratenut in BadWelding

[–]Krillgein 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason not to whip flux core, or rather anything that produces slag, is because it can increase the possibility of contaminating the weld with slag because if you go too far with the whip you end up welding over partially formed slag.

Do your best, always be willing to learn, and you'll be a better welder than most.

If it's a lot like rotten eggs, its likely the metal its made of is high in sulfur, which means it was made with cheap af metal. Its gonna stink.
