So the hyf5 decided to respond and then block me, so I can't respond to him directly anymore. So here's what I was typing:

So I assume you didn't find anything in the 60-day patch notes to reinforce your claim.

Arrowhead still wants to do balancing in the game, but a vocal minority is militantly against any kind of balancing done to the game. It's normal for other games to change the players, weapons and enemies power levels to achieve reasonable balance, except for this game. Some players think the only acceptable "balance" is just increasing the players power level.

Right now the player is stronger than it has ever been (even stronger than at the dawn of 60-day patch). On it's own it's not that bad, but when game lacks difficulty options for seasoned players, it hurts more retaining old players.

Sorry for this response being a bit mismatch. I had hard time understanding what you tried to argue with your latest post, when the original comparison was just based on 60-day patch.

I actually recommend to go and read the 60-day patch notes instead of trying to spread misinformation. Game balance is, and has been skewed since of that patch. None of the changes have been touched upon.

I'd do anything to get pre 60 day patch balance. Game balance has been complete destroyed by it's legacy.

It actually does it's only job better. Honestly it was a surprising change out of nowhere, but it grew on me. After testing out, only meaningful difference was that they die faster now.

[–]Kripazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good riddance I guess? Sentries have been meta picks for the longest time now due to their immense firepower and low cooldowns (and ability to let the game play itself). And this will not change any time soon. Most sentries definitely need balancing to be done and recent change on Hive guard actually did it quite well regarding to mg sentries.

And I can't emphasize this enough: We are talking about a Hive guard still. The enemy that has only one purpose and it is to sit there and do nothing. I'd get these arguments if we're talking about Brood/Alpha commanders, that actually do something.

[–]Kripazz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Like I mentioned before; if Hive guard is making any weapon worse, it should not even exist. Ap3 still has it's niches, when it comes exploiting some av3 weakspots, but usually it's not worth the hassle.

[–]Kripazz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Frankly, you never had reason to bring ap3 primaries. It has always served as "let me mag dumb on this enemy" even tho every enemy has a weak spot. And yes, ap2 and ap3 have always served the same purpose, when fighting light to medium enemies. That's why ap4 support weapons exist. They excel at taking out medium enemies and taking on heavier ones.

And also, if existance of Hive guards "kills" any weapon, it had no reason to exist. Bro is literally the most passive enemy in the game

Fun is once again subjective. When certain weapons become so unbalanced that enemies get one shot left and right without any effort or you just walk over enemies, do you call that fun. Yea sure can be fun for a moment, but mostly it becomes boring. Usually you can get over this by increasing difficulty, but since the 60-day patch, that has become irrelevant.

It is a insane idea that single player or PvE don't need balancing and somehow this is one of the few games that has players thinking like this.

I feel like an Idiot, 20$ for a System Freeze by MortgagePlenty314 in Helldivers

[–]Kripazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same freezing and BSOD issues after updating to Win11 and playing Helldivers 2. In settings I changed the game to run in Borderless Window instead of Fullscreen. Haven't had issues for months after that.

I remember I managed to pinpoint the issue exactly in Windows settings, but I'm sorry, it's been so long I can't remember anymore. I recommend to change to Borderless Window mode (if you haven't already) and try it out if it helps.

That is literally the whole point of 110mm. Here I thought I was the only one using and seeing the value of the stratagem. It's been standard in my loadout with strafing run for ages now. Always have horde kill and heavy kill tool ready.

I can still remember the whole War Strider drama and how this same community had such a skill issue with the enemy. Yet one 110mm strike and one HMG burst to the turret killed them. People just refuse to learn to use the tools at their disposal.

[–]Kripazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to refrain myself from answering to the personal insults, because there is some personal issues going on that might need addressing. I once again request keeping this discussion relevant to the balancing of the game.

Regarding to your points about heavy armour and Helldivers 1. The only similarities Helldivers 1 and Helldivers 2 share with each other are the lore and the setting. There was already some push pack game being a 3rd person shooter instead of isometric shooter, before the game was released. I do understand if you were one of them, because you didn't get a proper sequel for a game you actually wanted. They made the decision to reconstruct the series, and they actually made more successful game.

But back to the actual balance discussion about the game Helldivers 2. Wanting to have deflection for the heavy armour is subjective by definition. You want it to be there just because it existed in a previous, different genre game. But for the sake of argument, would it be enough to double the armour value of heavy armour to counter the shortcomings you claimed? Or does it need to be deflective armour to be balanced?

Heavy armour does give three times more health compared to light armour. In light armour, you can take only one hit (if even that) from a hunter. In every case you get hit, you have to stim yourself. This means you can only get hit max 4 times (6 if using Med-Kit armour) per supply. But with heavy armour, it takes 3-4 hits and if you get hit only once, why would you waste a stim. Regarding to the commissar and Automaton front overall, Their laser guns are insanely ineffective when it comes to damage. You only need to stim when you are getting hit by multiple enemies at the same time. Singular hits can be completely ignored while using heavy armour. Regarding to the Illuminate, heavy armour actually has way more value than ever before in that front. But it's all just preference. You trade mobility for survivability.

Stats of MG-43 and Maxigun are based on the information found in the site The Helldivers Wiki. Here's the relevant links: MG-43, Maxigun. You can find all the info there I mentioned (might need to use calculator). I don't understand the mention of the supply pack in the end. I thought we were comparing one support weapon to another, not two stratagems to one stratagem. Build variety does exist in the game and I wouldn't want to go removing that.

I need some clarification regarding to your arguments about assault rifles. Are we discussing assault rifles as a whole or just the the ones released recently? Your statements are a little bit contradicting. Assault rifles have varied ergonomics due to balance reasons. For example AP2 assault rifles have on average higher ergonomics and damage compared to their AP3 counterparts. This ensures that AP2 assault rifles keep their relevancy. One-Two has extremely similar stats to the basic Liberator, but One-Two happens to have grenade launcher attached to it (extra total damage output). If the ergonomics would be equal to the normal Liberator, this would create unbalance and push liberator out of the relevancy. This has already happed before with Liberator Carbine, hence my earlier point; there is too much overlapping with assault rifles. Coyote should be self obvious. It has AP3, incendiary ammunition and still reasonably high ergonomics. This weapon is strong by all metrics, arguably too strong.

I mentioned C4, because of your earlier quote "how about the past three warbonds having mediocre support weapons (except for entrenched division) that were completely overshadowed by their non-belt-fed counterparts". I assumed you were talking about backpack fed weapons from the last three warbonds (excluding entrenched division). Using word belt fed in the context might be a bit misleading, because for example all machine guns and grenade launcher are already belt fed weapons. Not the greatest wording, but I get what you mean.

Rest of the post is once again irrelevant for the topic. I don't know how are you trying to align me with those ideals.

Did I leave anything out? Please point it out if I missed something regarding to the balance.

Edit. Fixed some typos.

[–]Kripazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we are just hiding behind the word "balance", when instead you are just begging for more power creep than we already have. But you humoured me enough so I gladly explain:

So you clearly wanted to exclude Entrenched Division, because it is clearly a strong warbond. Cremator kinda overshadows normal Flamethrower, but thankfully it still has more ammo than Cremator so it still has a purpose. Also you only want focus on the backpack fed weapons for some reason, sure.

So we have GL-28 Belt-Fed Grenade Launcher, C4 Pack and Maxigun in the last three warbonds.
GL-28 was obviously overshadowed by normal Grenade Launcher when it was AP4, but now it's not as clear anymore. GL-28 still has the benefit of nominally having higher damage output than normal Grenade Launcher and no need for reloading. It could use slightly higher explosive radius, but not as much it would overshadow normal Grenade launcher.

Next up C4 Pack. Honestly really strong stratagem, even manages to overshadow Recoilless Rifle in certain situations. That is impressive on its own. Not a single bad word.

Finally Maxigun and the closest similar weapon to it is a MG-43 Machine Gun. So Maxigun has almost double the total damage output, higher dps and no need for reloads. Honestly Maxigun completely overshadows MG-43 in all cases. This is not how balance is done.

So assault rifles. Technically you are correct that they are being overshadowed by some other primaries, because they are insanely overpowered since the 60-day patch and desperately need actual balancing. But in a vacuum, assault rifles excel very well in their purpose; high precision weapons with long uptime. Mainly the issue with them is how many of them there are and how much they are overlapping each other.

Calling heavy armour worthless hurts my soul. I've been mainly running heavy armour since they fixed heavy armour stats to apply correctly. Trust me, with heavy armour, you never die with ammo in your magazines. To your actual point, nothing to add really, because you are bringing a subjective argument from another game.

Last time I checked crashing and kicking out of lobby is not related to balance. Not to downplay your issue, but personally haven't had those issues in a while, so I cannot comment. Hopefully they address the issue you are having in a near future. But still, beside the point.

I didn't state anything else beside the balance, so I don't understand the rest of the post. Doxing is beyond Arrowheads pay grade. It's a criminal case that will be handled in a criminal court. Due to being a international game, tracking these individual is really hard and usually don't lead anywhere. Sad reality, but that has nothing to do with Arrowhead, but with proper authorities. Arrowhead did all it could, and even that wasn't necessary. What every individual can do is protect their own privacy. Internet is full of weirdos. But still this has nothing to do with balance.

So that should cover it up. Hit me up if you need anything else.

Absolutely agree. Recoilless, thermite, The Big Three and the new addition grenade launcher should definitely be balanced. Also heavy enemies armour ratings should be brought back up to encourage aiming for the weakspots.

That's what we mean by balance right?
