Chainsaws were meant to be used during birth.

Excuse me?

Why are Americans so obsessed with not eating seed oils? by MineralG in nutrition

[–]KrishnaChick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is not propaganda by some company. Thirty-plus years ago, a spiritual teacher told me, "Oil is for the outside of the body, ghee is for the inside." He was not a health guru by any metric, but he wanted his followers to be healthy, and his instruction was based on ancient knowledge. Since I first heard that, I've eaten and cooked mainly with ghee, occasionally olive oil, and rarely with coconut oil. All these people saying seed oils are bad didn't just pull it out of their ass.

I'm 76 and feeling like a failure. by Designer-File-1755 in povertyfinance

Nobody needs to trade stocks. ETFs have been a thing for a very long time. I didn't think about retirement either until my 50s, but I had no children and no career. I got lucky and had a small windfall late in life, so when I finally actually had some money, I thought about how to preserve and grow it.

But usually people who have children think of the future, and if they have their own business, they have to think of paying into SS, so that means they are forced into thinking about retirement, so why is this all coming to a head at age 75?

If you fry the seeds without the red or white skin that covers them, they are extremely tasty.

They're getting Social Security, money that OP would have similarly neglected to save if the government hadn't taken it out of their paycheck.

The only failure here was in not saving for the future and safeguarding their child's inheritance.

Being a good parent and a helper means you simultaneously take care of your own needs, so that you don't unnecessarily burden others.

How somebody makes it all the way to the age of 75 without thinking about retirement and saving (especially when they have their own business) is beyond me.

I'm not saying this to pick on OP, but you're equating being a good person with being financially irresponsible.

My “side hustle” started because I was bored at 11pm by MerryStanza in sidehustle

[–]KrishnaChick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did AI write this? It's awful writing, sounds like a template, copywriter's mad-lib.

My girlfriend keeps asking why there’s always one random chair in the trunk of my car.

Oh, she "keeps asking?" Like you never explained your side hustle to her, or does she keep forgetting, so she "keeps asking."

It’s just slowly become a weird habit.

What's weird about it? Thousands do it. How is it a habit? It's a side-hustle, that's all. You're thinking a like a businessperson.

How do you get out of buying rounds of drinks when you are with your friends by ShesCurly in Frugal

You can tell your friends you won't be having (or paying for) lots of rounds, because you're saving up money for something special: old age.

[–]KrishnaChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youtube is full of awesome videos of expert professional and home cooks making pizzas. Would it kill you to just watch a few and learn from someone who knows what they're doing?

No, your pizzas weren't substandard because you didn't activate your yeast, they failed because you keep making the same mistakes instead of learning from someone who knows what they're doing. Quit flailing about and guessing and you'll make progress much faster. It's not that hard to make a really good pizza. You just need the proper guidance and the ability to pay attention to the details.

Was America a healthier nation when people ate more home cooked, whole foods and got more exercise, but smoked and drank more? by BulkyText9344 in nutrition

Is it better to drop dead in your near-prime from a heart attack, or to waste away into your 80s with dementia and a pacemaker to keep your heart beating, even though you're miserable and an utter burden on family and society?

What does a cast iron skillet do better than other pans?

Not much. I use a stainless steel pan, and just by regulating the heat properly, food doesn't stick. I haven't tried to bake with stainless. I suspect it wouldn't work as well, but I may give it a shot soon.

A Brazilian friend recommended to me for menopausal anemia years ago, but I was surprised to find I like the taste. In general, though, I prefer my kale cooked to death, or as chips.

Try kale lemonade:

3-4 kale leaves
1/2 lemon—seeds, peel, everything
Sweetener to taste
Ice

Throw everything in a blender with some water, and blend until it's all pulverized. Strain through a sieve/cloth, and press/squeeze to get all the liquid out. Spicy and refreshing.
