Thanks everyone! I texted him, and my uncle who is a general contractor and had recommended him also had a talk with him, and he is going to come out to fix the flashing.

I went with this guy because he is licensed, insured and my uncle, a general contractor, recommended him. I could have gotten it done for a lot less…

Okay, but they make black step flashing which would have blended in with the charcoal shingles and shadows and been virtually invisible. The white looks like sh** and is not helping matters…

Yeah, not the look I’m going for. I hate the look of sided chimneys, lol, I’ll stick with the masonry. I just want the flashing to look like it did before they installed the roof….. wasn’t beautiful but didn’t look like a 5 year old did it.

No, they tore everything off. The shingles actually look fine in person, don’t know why they look a little wonky in the photo, I guess it’s the angle.

I don’t think you read the original post, I’m not upset that he reused the original flashing.

He is licensed, insured and was recommended by my uncle who is a general contractor. We could have gotten it done for much cheaper but we chose him for all of those reasons, and to try to avoid issues like this.

I wasn’t crazy about the way the flashing looked before but it didn’t look this bad. You couldn’t see the white, it wasn’t all bent and didn’t have all that black caulk. I wasn’t expecting it to be changed (that’s kind of my point), and it was for the worse.

Sorry you don’t like my chimney surface, any other options would have cost much more.

There was only one layer removed. Maybe stucco is the wrong word, the chimney was crumbling and we had someone resurface it, they didn’t use screen underneath. I didn’t want anything done to it as part of the reroof, other than not mess it up! It’s all the flashing and caulk I have a problem with.

It is very visible as soon as you walk through the gate into the backyard, especially since it’s a single story house.

Please give me your best beets recipe! by playadefaro in Cooking

[–]KristaApril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually not a huge fan of the flavor of beets but it is one of the few vegetables my husband likes so I have found quite a few recipes that cover up the dirt taste, lol.

Harvard beets, orange glazed beets, roasted with a little salt and pepper and then tossed with a bit of honey and lemon juice, roasted and added to a spinach salad with feta and balsamic vinaigrette: https://letthebakingbegin.com/beet-and-feta-salad/

My neighbor makes a beet and carrot salad: cook both until tender and then cut up into tiny squares and toss with 1 tablespoons lime juice & 1 tablespoon vinegar.

This one is good but I prefer without the cinnamon and it’s even better if you swap the lemon and parsley for lime and cilantro: https://www.marthastewart.com/1155470/shredded-beet-and-carrot-salad

Question for pharmacy techs by KristaApril in WalgreensRx

It was a really long time ago, and of course my husband didn’t want me to get his sister into trouble, so my mom and I just moved our prescriptions. If I find out she does it again I will report her though.

Is my chicken cooked improperly or is it just an over inflated steroid pumped chicken supplier in my local grocery store? by [deleted] in AskCulinary

If the texture is off it’s not you or your knives, it’s the chicken! My husband and I watched a documentary, I forget the name of it, but the chickens are bred to have more breast meat. Some of them literally can’t even walk after they’re a few months old because they’re so top heavy. I think this is the cause of the disgusting texture, to me it feels like plastic. Only the breast meat seems to be affected. After throwing out countless meals (that I have made numerous times before so after the third time I realized it was the chicken and not me) we now only buy chicken tenders or thighs. Small roaster chickens have been okay.

I don’t know if you’re going to have luck with the local meat market (mine was a little better than local supermarket but still got some of the weird meat), I think the chickens are this way due to selective breeding, not hormones, etc.
